This question is based on a quiz on Mensa, so I can't take credit. I hope the images all show up. I put descriptions on the four choices.
If you look at the names of the photos you are cheating.
Given:
Image A
Image B
Image C
Image D
Which of the following four images should be "Image E"
Image #1: Michelle Bachman satirical
Image #2: Nancy Pelosi
Image #3: Statue of Liberty holding torch buried in sand from last scene in Planet of the Apes
Image #4: Newt Gingrich approved head shot

For some reason, I couldn't get the scroll to pass image B.
I voted for Newt.

I went #1 because of the image sizes and ratios. I think that's as valid as a way to look at it as the "right" way seen by looking at the names.

I picked #2 for unknown reasons.

No the watermark is not significant.
If you've cheated (or even if you figured it out), don't reveal since other people want to play.
The commonly used terms to solve the puzzle are said to have originated during the seating of the French National Assembly in 1789.

The size of each image alternates; as do the sets of five, from left ear, right hand, left foot, right hand. Does that mean it's #2?
Why bet at all, if you can be sure?
Anyway, what constitutes a "good bet"? - The best slots-game in town; a sucker's edge; or some gray-area blackjack-stunts?

My thought was:
Liberal - part of body
Liberal - body
Neutral - part of body
Neutral - body
Conservative - part of body. I realize that the head is not the same limited scope as an ear or a foot, but that's what I went with.

I'm going to say #3 because it is so obviously out of place. All the other shots are anatomic.

But it is a statue of a mythical person. There are clues buried in the previous comments.

No one is playing anymore, so
left ear, right shoulder, left foot, right hand.
So we have a choice of two right wing politicians, one statue holding a lamp in her right hand, and a left wing politician. So the answer is #2.

I think it is a stretch to get "right shoulder" out of the second image. She is looking to the right-ish, but the image clearly shows her left shoulder. The answer could have just as easily been "belly button."

Sorry, but that leaves me unsatisfied. As was mentioned, "right shoulder" is not what comes to mind in image #2. In fact, that is way down on my list of things I focus on in that picture.
My best guess was #3, because would have established a pattern of alternating pictures of a visible hand.

A set of five straightish piercings in the upper part of the left ear. A set of five fingers visible on the right hand; not on the left. A set of five toes on the left foot. A set of five fingers visibly extended on the right arm; not on the left. Leading to a set of five rows of stars on the upper left-oriented shot of the sol'n's room? (From left ear (top) of image #1 to left foot (bottom) of image #3, then back to left stars (at top) for image #5.)
The liberty-picture, on my screen, is a large pic; not a small one as expected. And, on my screen, the pic's alternate from no hand, to a hand, to no hand, to a hand. So, back to no hand.

Thought about this a bit more, while falling asleep last night.
Beyond the political, for which iq tests aren't supposed to be "renouned": the first and third pic's represent left-handedness combined with up, or down, respectively; and, the second and fourth pic's represent right-handedness combined with back, or ahead, respectively.
But, the Speaker of the House is then the preferred political choice for the next image... political, but not overly-active as a regularly forward, or opposing, member. Meanwhile, Liberty's reversal which demonstrably avoids the up and down would make it a good choice to follow the image of Pelosi. The other two options appear to be a useless mix of those two.

The original four images were:
A) left-ear.jpg' rel='nofollow' target='_blank'>http://ishiboo.com/~danny/Play/other/cp/left-ear.jpg
B) right_side_girl.jpg' rel='nofollow' target='_blank'>http://www.celebpoker.com/images/wallpapers/Right_Side_Girl/1152x864_right_side_girl.jpg
C) left-neg-web.jpg' rel='nofollow' target='_blank'>http://www.lugus.net/images-WEB2/Navigation-Pages%20Images/foot-left-neg-web.jpg
D) right-hand-pointing-at-camera-and-smiling.jpg' rel='nofollow' target='_blank'>http://us.123rf.com/400wm/400/400/pemotret/pemotret0803/pemotret080300014/2629218-isolated-pretty-girl-posing-with-her-right-hand-pointing-at-camera-and-smiling.jpg
The selection was:
Image #1: Michelle Bachman satirical
Image #2: Nancy Pelosi
Image #3: Statue of Liberty holding torch in right hand buried in sand from last scene in Planet of the Apes
Image #4: Newt Gingrich approved head shot
Originally, I had a right knee for image B, and another right wing politician for image #3.
As with all puzzle making it seemed like it would be too easy.
So I substituted a girl looking to the right for the original image:
I had three right wing politicians and one left wing, but since I couldn't think of a left wing Republican, or a right wing Democrat, it made the exceptional image obvious. So I chose the statue of Liberty holding the torch in her right hand.
I apologize if I made the puzzle too vague.
