From some details obtained by ZippyBoy, it looks like Binions will host our Tourney, but that is yet to be confirmed. In the meantime I thought we should decide what buy in we would be comfortable with.

We should also decide what variant of poker we will be playing.

Please only vote for one catagory in each section.

Thanks people, and On to WoVCon

Please count me in as committed to the Tournament. I voted for N/L HE as it is the only variation I play regularly. Any buy-in amount up to $100 would be fine for me. I would just suggest that whatever the amount is set at , that pains are taken to ensure that it is amount that will not create grudges within the community.

Personally, I voted for Texas as it is probably the most widely known variant, and would be easiest to get a tourney set up for.

I also voted $25-$50, as I would feel comfortable buying in for that amount and losing, and not feel bitter about it. That is also why I was not in favour of a cash game. It could create too much friction.

Oh, BTW, Welcome back 98steps

If you would like a bespoke tourney clock for use on a laptop, let me know. I used to make the for the league I used to run here.

Thanks, will do. I imagine Binions will use CardRoomMAGIC, like we do, which is a shit system, but the best (or cheapest) available as it seems to be an industry standard. If you could make a system that didnt crash when you tried to amend a tournament in progress, you could sell it to the casinos and make a fortune.

But if we end up not using Binions and getting a suite, it might come in handy.

mine never crash, and I am trying to get them in casinos here, but they are so wary of anything from players.

It sounds like you're coming across as just another player. Don't be "just a player" when you try to pitch your tournament management software. Set up a small company, get some business cards, do a website with a demo version online, and then make actual business visits to the poker rooms separate from your poker sessions.

The best advice I can give is not to start with sales calls but with market research visits. Casino operators are much, much more likely to talk to you and provide feedback if they don't think you're selling them something (yet).

I think that is some great advice! I will get a website sorted. ;-)
