Requesting a legal opinion from anyone knowledgeable about UK law.

I was Phil Ivey's expert in his 2014 edge sorting case against Genting/Crockfords. As part of my duties, I wrote an expert report. As well, the other side also had an expert report. These documents were submitted into evidence in the trial. The trial was public.

Is my expert report a public document? Can I freely quote from my expert report and/or post any part of it, even though I signed an NDA with Phil's legal folks in the UK?

I am under the impression that in a court, all evidence that is not explicitly sealed is public. Not sure though about the UK. I think there may be fine print that the judge has to explicitly release court documents into the public domain.

TIA.

That must have been a great experience being the expert witness in that case!!!!

I think your question is actually complex... If you are planning on testing the legalities I would pay for an expert legal opinion first. My guess is that you should not mention it due to the NDA. But as you surmise, maybe you can mention anything already in the public domain. Good luck!
