NFL is now zero tolerance with that kinda thing
Chiefs have something good going this year and the last thing they need is this distraction hovering over them the rest of the season. Andy Reid knows they can win without Kareem Hunt. Spencer Ware will need to step up
The incident took place in February, and the NFL has spoken directly to Hunt about it. They requested but did not get the video. Now that the video has been made available by TMZ the NFL reviewed it and announced Hunt "was not truthful in those discussions." Minutes after the commissioner placed Hunt on his exempt list the Chiefs released him. It seems to be another case of the cover up being worse than the crime.Quote: michael99000... Quote: michael99000The video is not a good look for him. Not as awful as the Ray Rice , but still not good.

I watched it this morning. When he pushed her I was like, meh.. definitely shouldn't do that but they are both drunk and Inhad no audio so I dont know really what was going on. Then the part where she got thrown into the wall. I wasnt exactly sure what happened, did he push someone into them which made her fly or was it kind of an accident? Again Inwas like meh.. theennnn at the end when he kicked her pro wrestling style I said off with his head. If he walks away prior to that then I think he had a chance of not being fired and out millions. The kick was a terrible thing and way over the line.

The version I saw on the news last night was edited, and started with the altercation already in progress. The woman is up in his grill and he pushes her away a few times. Apparently, the guy she is with keeps jawing at him. There is a cut, and the next scene appears to be Hunt impacting the guy after getting a running start down the hallway. The guy goes flying into the woman and both end up on the ground. I don't think he intentionally meant to knock her to the ground as there was more than a few feet between the first guy and the woman.
But then Hunt kicks her when she is down. Not a vicious swing, but still, way over the line that could be justified as self defense.
Fortunately for the Chiefs, they have the Raiders this week, but this opens the door for San Diego down the road.

I think some of it can be considered self defense and that is why I was like meh. Especially the little shove when she was in his face. But with the kick she was already down and it looked like she may have been a little dazed

I just watched it again.

Half way through they give an alternate view. It appears that he is wrestling with someone in the hall way. At the same time the girl pushes some other dude and they run into each other.
Hos much did this tmz pay for the video?
Did they want to get rid of him?
Quote: FleaStiffAnyone think it was a set up?

Probably Belichick is behind it.

It is quite amazing how they get all of these videos. They are either behind some of them or they pay a ton.

I do have the Chargers to win AFC West
have gotten really lucky or an foia request if it was an exhibit in a case.
I think lying to the commissioner about what happened trumps what happened. The commissioner took action when his review of the tapes exposed the lies. There was no waiting for due process to determine the nature of the events.Quote: onenickelmiracle... There must be something said or something we don't know I'd think. ...

Wonder no more! More details are presented here: Kareem Hunt Reportedly Expected to Be Suspended 6 Games After Video ReleasedQuote: onenickelmiracleYou are right, that is a fact, but I wonder what he told them.
Short summary: The league’s policy is a 6 game suspension for first time domestic violence offenders. Hunt told the Chiefs he did nothing, and that is why they released him after viewing the video. If that policy is enforced at the conclusion of the league’s investigation Hunt can play again next year.
That's good he'll play, the Chiefs are idiots for releasing him though. He could potentially come back to the team, but what an opportunity for another team. I'm not really sure who needs him the most, but I'll make a Nathan prediction he will either go back to Kansas City or go to New England or Cleveland.Quote: BleedingChipsSlowlyWonder no more! If the Patriots sign Hunt, maybe it was a nefarious doing of Dark Hoodie.Quote: BozProbably Belichick is behind it.
"According to sources with direct knowledge of the situation, Hunt faces more than the baseline six-game suspension for violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy. The league also has been investigating an incident involving Hunt allegedly punching a man in the face at an Ohio resort in June. The NFL is believed to have found enough from that incident to add to Hunt's discipline."

His "value" to the team became questionable when he lied along the way. He had a choice to tell the truth about both incidents and suffer the imposed suspension at that point or to lie and see what happened. He gambled and lost. I don't think that lying is good way to endear yourself to an organization.
He is a top-rated running back, so someone will sign him when they are able to do so. Unless further incidents happen, I see him back in the league.
The Chiefs may also have considered that in a couple of years he would be up for a large increase in pay.
We'll see what happens from here.
Quote: mcallister3200Don’t think he’s going to get blackballed out like ray rice. A few years younger, considerably less career carries and more importantly looks like a significantly different level of brutality/force/intent on the video in his shove/kick than rice’s punch.
I agree--I am pretty certain, based on the information available at this point, that he will be suspended for 6-16 games and will signed as soon as he he is allowed to do so after the suspensions and perhaps some anger management courses or something.
How about just a violence policy?
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who can't wrap my head around the Chargers being in LA!!!Quote: Ayecarumba...but this opens the door for San Diego down the road.
I still see the team abbreviation (LAC) and think, "Wait, the Clippers are playing football now?"
Quote: BozProbably Belichick is behind it.
Now that is funny!
Quote: WatchMeWinIt is the era of the woman outcry. They who scream loudest usually get what they want.
There’s a video. Are you arguing that only women want him suspended?
Or are you just complaining that women are finally going to be starting to be treated better?
