Manager confronted the Customer for charging back the $3,000 tip after he admitted he meant to do it because of the Social Media Trend. Customer told him to sue him, and Manager is suing the Customer. Luckily the Manager didn't ask the Waitress for the $3,000 tip back. Waitress was completely innocent in this whole mess and didn't deserve to have to give back the $3,000 just because the Customer did a chargeback after confirming he left the $3,000 tip on purpose because of the Social Media Trend. Thank God she was able to keep the $3,000 and only CUSTOMER is getting punished with a Lawsuit. 🤔💡

I play Bingo at three different Casinos. 😀 The Casino that has $300 Bingo doesn't have a Coverall Bingo, all rounds are $300 for a winning line. 😀 You can win up to $600 a Bingo card. 😀 And there are 10 rounds. 😀 And the FIRST Bingo card is free. 😀 The only catch is that that Bingo usually runs only once a month. 😐 They skipped July's Bingo, so they will have bingo twice in August to make up for the missed July. 😀

I didn't have money on Wednesday to play Bingo. I no longer get a free Bingo, so I now have to play $150 coin in to get a Bingo. 💡

Quote: NathanSome years ago, I had an App deal for Baskin Robbins banana split for $4.99. At Baskin Robbins, I asked for a banana split with no bananas because I have a VERY strong aversion to bananas. The Cashier asked me if I was actually trying to ask for a sundae. I said, "No, I want a banana split with no bananas. I want everything that a banana split has, but I have a strong aversion to bananas, so I don't want the bananas. " The Cashier finally got it and gave me the banana split with no bananas. 💡 I don't get why the Cashier at first thought I was trying to say a sundae at first 😵💫 . If I wanted a sundae, I would have specifically said sundae, not a banana split with no bananas. 💡

You missed an even bigger AP opportunity! Ask for the banana unpeeled on the side. Then sell it!
On my next trip, I got one for a quarter.
Quote: billryanMy local 5&10 used to have a special on banana splits. You could pay fifty cents or pick a balloon, which cost anywhere from a penny to around .75 cents. One of my first" dates" saw me take my girl for ice cream, and I paid eight cents for the two of them.

Damn inflation. Nowadays, what you paid .33 in total for would cost you about $16 today! 😱😳😵💫🤔💡

I raked yards for fifty cents a pop. Today, I wouldn't do that for fifty dollars an hour.
In 1967, a banana split cost .50 cents; to buy one, I'd have to work all afternoon. Today, a banana split cost $5, and I have to work about five minutes to afford it. When I was young, adding a zero to the back of your income was a big deal. Now it takes a comma.
Quote: NathanI personally think that a middle aged Adult would have ADULT Children who wouldn't need to be raised anymore. For example, when my Mom was my age(40) my Mom was a teenaged parent) I was already a full grown Adult, a College Graduate, and had a full time job. So I was already raised. Plenty of people in their "middle age" have teenage and possibly younger children.
Ashly may throw me out*if I go calling her "middle aged", but... two kids, 6, 13, and a dad (65ish). Let's politely say her husband is middle aged, and she's approaching middle age.
The littles are largely self sufficient (just requiring supervision, and regularly throwing some raw meat into the cages), and the dad has some minor medical adventures meaning he also requires supervision (he can still get his own raw meat).

They are referring to adults who help both their children and their parents. Too many old folks will no longer take that walk out on the ice. Several of my friends were in situations where they had to help their parents while still paying for their kids education. It's a place few parents want to be. We put money aside for our kids' education and save up for our daughters' weddings, but who puts money aside to help Mom move into assisted living? That wasn't something we were supposed to be doing. Life is what happens while you are busy making plans.
I was the youngest kid in my high school class, so we have all turned 65 by now, and I'm amazed at how ill-prepared they are for retirement.

I expect to retire around 68. 💡 My oldest Colleague retired at around 70. The second oldest Colleague retired at around age 68. My 401K has about $7,000 at this moment. I started my 401K a bit late and made a couple of loans from it. Had I started my 401K from the get go and NEVER touched it, I probably would have had about $15,000 in it.💡
I have 31 people who work with me. I have 5 people young enough to be my Children(around 20) , one who is about 10 years younger than me, 2 who are about a year younger than me, one who is about 5 years younger than me, one who is about 8 years older than me, 14 who are about 15 years older than me, one who is about 20 years older than me, one who is about 3 years younger than me, one who is about 2 years older than me, one who is about 5 years older than me, one who is about 4 years older than me, one who is about 9 years older than me, one who is about 2 years younger than me . 😀💡

So, in 28 years, You'll be drawing from your 401K? Let's do some estimating. Humour me. we don't have the same 401k products in my country.
Let's say you live till 80 and NEED $20k a year (in todays money value) over and above what the state gives you as SS. *
Let's further say that any growth in the 401K is cancelled by inflation. So we can do everything at today's values.*
(80-68) x $20k = £240k needed
paid in over (68-40)=28 years at rate of $240k/28 = $8570 per year or $714 per month.
I'm guessing you are not currently paying in $714 a month?
SO. Either you don't expect to need to draw $20k per year in retirement, or you expect your 401k to grow at a rate higher than inflation.
*Neither assumption is unreasonable, but neither can they be guaranteed. We have to make assumptions.
Let's plug in some more estimates to do it the other way around
Let's say you pay $100 a month into your 401K = $1200 a year.
Let's carry on with the assumption that growth in the 401K matches inflation, so we can carry on using 'today's values' of money.
in 28 years, you'll have invested $1200 x 28 = $33600
Draw down only $5,000 per year. At age 75 or so, you run out of money. At age 75, your options for increasing you income are slim to zero.
Now, other posters will rightly point out that 401K investments have a great chance of increasing in value far faster than inflation will erode them. But that makes the maths pretty hard. Growth in investments is not guaranteed to beat or even keep up with inflation. Also, government action can slash the value of savings and investments. In the UK we just had a period of inflation of >10% with food inflation >20% and energy price inflation >10% Stocks and shares did not keep pace. Bank saving rates did not keep pace.
It would be great if some actuary type guy..... like Wizard..... Plugged in some more reasonable numbers.
For now, Nathan, plug in your own numbers, privately. Then reflect on how expensive a quarter pounder meal, or your rent or whatever might be like year 2052.

On the bright side, you have twenty-eight years to save, and every dollar you save in the next few years will have lots of time to grow.
Quote: billryanA 40-year-old with $7,000 in her retirement has much catching up to do. You have 28 years to save $193,000, which might allow you to live at the poverty level. A rule of thumb is that you should take no more than 4% of your retirement each year, which means you'd have about $30 in monthly income, roughly $20 when adjusting for inflation. $400,000 can get you a decent life.

I held back from saying it, but it's true. Karen taking a loan from her 401K has messed up big-time. I don't suppose she's on target paying it back in. Money removed from the 401K is not growing: Not building a pension. She has left herself over a decade behind schedule to get a median level that in itself won't support a retirement in poverty.
I sincerely hope that Karen has other plans, future resources or income streams, A sugar Daddy? $:o)
