If you can bring yourself to that part of town, the Italian place "uncle angelos pizza joint" was on point tonight. My wife, kid and I went for his 3rd bday and got the Garlic zapolis (little boys of fried dough with garlic butter and parmasean all over it) and a 12" stromboli with pepperoni, peppercinis, red onion and garlic. It was incredible in my opinion ESPECIALLY from something in that part of town. This was my first time going and I will be going back. They do take out as well.
P.s. we took home half the stromboli and all 3 of us left fat and happy.also it was not busy at all

Jerry's nugget is one of my favorite little places. It just feels like a different time when you walk through the doors. Feels like how I imagine things were in 1970's or 1980's. Part of that is the clicking of the coins in the section by the door (closest to the street) where they still have the old coin-dropper machines, nickel and quarter. Sometimes I just sit and watch the grey-hairs feeding there nickels into the machine, their finger literally a silver/gray hue.

I've only eaten at Uncle Angelo's 2 or 3 times (it was pretty good and more than fair for the price), but my partner and I eat at the little coffee shop restaurant every week for either breakfast or lunch. It's pretty good. Coffee shop food, but I like diner/coffee shop food and it's very reasonably priced. Baked goods at both the coffee shop and the little take out place next to Uncle Angelo's are excellent. Bake on the premises.

Jerry's is in an undesirable part of town. Just after I moved to Vegas about 6 years ago, I hit one of my first Royal Flushes on a VP machine there. $4000 hand pay. It was a disaster. The locals who were all low rollers were all well aware that I had hit and some of them made me feel uncomfortable. And at that time I was a public transportation guy, but I wasn't going to stand out front waiting for the bus after all those folks had their eye on me. I called a cab to take me downtown. The other reason, I knew it was rare for someone to hit a RF on a $1 machine is because there were like 4 people involved in the payout, including a security guard. I just got the feeling that amount was the high roller amount in that joint.

I'm surprised it was only four. Usually in a dive like Jerry's Nugget a dozen employees will be floating about after you hit a hand-pay, congratulating you, and trying to have anything to do with it. Don't dare trying to tip just one person and ask him/her to share it. Everybody else hovering around will give you the stink eye.

Be sure to visit Chicas Bonitas across the street after your next visit.

When I used to take the bus, the bus going northbound dropped off right in front of Chicas Bonitas. I never went inside. Nothing in there for me. lol (I don't even like Corona beer)

I have always been a little concerned that too many people working in the casino knowing about a big score. Never had any problem, but always had concerns about a casino worker tipping off someone outside like a friend or relative, that might pay you a visit later.

Here's a little story that made me real uncomfortable. Hit a $4000 royal at Eastside Cannery. After the hand pay, I went to the buffet to eat. After swiping my card the cashier gave me a smile and said "congratulations". I mean why does the cashier at the buffet have access to that information?

I like Jerry's Nugget in general.

I like how they treat me like somebody special there.

I like how they go out of their way to tell me about stuff I can take advantage of.

I like their free bets and free match plays every week.

I like their birthday celebrations, they are pretty fun on the kiosks.

I like how you can go to the gift shop to get your player id.

I like how they have that cafe with the folks working there that will tell you stories and entertain you while they serve enough food to fill anybody.

They actually have some of the most polite dealers in town because they have to deal with a lot of stuff.

If you are reasonably polite they are very appreciative.

I love the finger snapping.

I like the grunting.

I love the spinning in place on the seven-out.

I love the guys hopping six bets all at the same time.

It's just good fun to watch and experience, really, if you are able to fit in and enjoy instead of stand outside and judge.

Yep, liberal free bets and match plays are the big draw for me and my partner. Everything else is just gravy. And it doesn't take that much play to get those free bets and MP's.

I know a guy that had the valet driver
high five him on his 5K hand pay. It
totally freaked him out.
