Mrs Q wanted to head out to the movies tonight, so not being a Melissa McCarthy fan at all, I had her (Mrs Q, not Melissa) check rottentomatoes.com for a review of the new summer release, SPY, before heading to the local mega-plex.

It got great reviews at that website. And I'll add my vote as well !

This is about as funny of a film that you will see, just a great James Bond send-up. Toss in real life "action hero" Jason Statham as an ego-centric one-man pr machine for his own past CIA spy exploits, plus Jude Law as the likeable male lead, and some how it all works out very nicely. There are a handful of true laugh outloud moments.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Stars ( Blackjacks ? ).

ps:

I'll also mention that KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE is another excellent spy movie send-up that just came out on DVD. It isn't an out and out comedy, but is so glitzy and stylized it almost creates its own new category of Action / Spy flick.

Just saw this last night. Very funny. Maybe the most laughing I've done watching a movie in a long time.

Yes it was very funny. Melissa McCarthy is 3 for 3 with the comedies she's in that are directed by Paul Feig.

Bridesmaids (probably the best comedy of the last 10 years)
The Heat
and now Spy

Next summer he is directing the female Ghostbusters reboot with her. Should be another hit.
