Years ago I worked a suicide hotline for 4
months.

I cannot imagine being suicidal, making an impulsive call for help and having the phone be answered by EvenBob.
So many better men, a few of them friends, were dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things lived on, and so did I.

It wasn't a suicide hotline until EB started working there. Then every caller wanted to off themselves once he answered :)

Yet, in a way, you and the rest of us are still here voluntarily talking to him, the guy who used to work a suicide hotline. Something about Bob?

... Or us?

EvenBob, has said recently he doesn't care about what other people post because he only cares about what he has to say. That just seems like an odd choice of person to put on a suicide hotline.

But EvenBob is bright and occasionally interesting/provocative so of course sometimes I do talk to him, but I certainly don't come to WOV specifically to talk to Bob.

Surfing WOV forums is like birdwatching, and I've already checked the EvenBob species box on my lifetime list of birds. Now if I could only get the elusive Nathan to speak to me instead of talking to herself.

Thanks for your responses. Enjoyable. I like how you always try to add something new, or tie up loose ends.

Part of the fascination, eventually, if we are doing it right, has to be that as one "bird" becomes (more) understood, we move on to the next, and then the next. Just as we become really good at one thing, whether because of us or something else, it is gone. Poof! The old questions no longer hold the same meaning or energy, if any at all, as when we first asked them.

Now this is some straight up bulls*** that's pissing me off.....I tried doing this a few weeks ago (on a post I saw on reddit I think) and couldn't do it. Just tried it, still can't do it.

It's something about stereovision -- basically where you try to look "beyond" a picture, do some weird gypsy eye-sorcery, then you can see hidden messages n stuff.

WARNING: The video is posted by Vox, so tread with care.

I think I'm doing it right, but my eyes are just broken. I need to use my thumb to block out the red dots kinda so that I can see all "3 dots", but as soon as I take my thumb away, it goes straight back to 2 dots. And on like maybe 1 occasion, the dots stayed there....but when I shifted my eyes down to the picture, my eyes broke again and the "three" dots turnt back into 2 dots. :(

Halp?

It's been years since I've seen one of those, but I used to be able to see it and it is kind of cool. I wasn't able to see them at first, but as you figure it out it comes easier. Just keep trying.

I seem to recall that for me it was almost like crossing my eyes, but not quite and you don't really stare at it, but as you said "beyond" it. Sometimes it would take a minute or more, sometimes it would pop up in a few seconds. I don't know for sure, but I suspect putting your thumb over it would make it harder.

I also did it with real paper ones, not online. I have no idea if that makes a difference or not. I'll give it a try and see if I have any success.

Some are easier to see than others too, and I think there were some I was never able to get. So if one isn't working, try another.

I would suggest to V to go hook himself a nice pumpkinseed or bluegill, which I know he has out there and can be caught easily just about anywhere with just about any equipment in 10sec or less. They, or "it" as even one will do the trick, will decimate every single 'pole that happens upon his aquatic wunderland, and will incessantly harass any laying frog or toad to the point they won't stay.

I'd considered that but then remembered the problem a friend of mine had when he put fish in his pond.

Seems they kept disappearing (no, not walking catfish).

Come to find out birds eyed the fish while flying overhead then swooped down for a bit of sushi.

He wound up covering the pond with a net, which for me would be aesthetically unpleasing.

I will not use poison: birds use the upper pool of the waterfall to bathe (birds rock; frogs not so much).

Thanks for the constructive suggestion.

today I asked the McDonalds Manager if there was a higher grade of meat in their Quarter pounders

a couple of days ago I was at a luncheon buffet at Crave restaurant and they served sliders. it was way, way, better than any burger at MickeyDees. I had forgotten how good a burger could be when the meat is really high quality. they only sell sliders during happy hour but I'm going to buy their regular burger with fries which sells for $12.99. that's a little bit high for me for an ordinary meal but I'm expecting it to be a larger burger that I can split in 2 and get 2 meals out of.
