Frogs: bah!

Our house has a waterfall and pond in the back yard; some nearby neighbors think it's cool to have frogs around, so they coddle the little critters, emboldening them to explore.

Once they reach our pond they die.

My wife and I listen nightly for the "ribbit ribbit" of croaking frogs: it's our call to action.

We grab flashlights, a pool skimmer and a flat shovel and go hunting.

We get them to enter the water and then it's game over: scoop them up with the skimmer net, flick them artfully out of the pond and onto the lawn, then WHAM with the working end of the shovel.

Just bagged one ten minutes ago.

I don't want frogs on my property.

No sense posting "Keep out," is there?

Two reasons we whack those damned amphibians.

One, they breed freely and the pond would quickly fill with unwanted frogs: no thank you.

Two, they croak loudly at night, loud enough to keep us awake.

You frog lovers have a problem with it?

Too bad.

My house, my rules.

Maybe if you had a fence around the edge of the pond, the frogs would just all drown.

Killing small frogs is no different than swatting mosquitoes.

I would love for that to happen. Definitely would make it tougher on you than the frogs are able to
