I baby my computer - a Lenovo desktop - hoping to get more life out of it
I store almost nothing on it - all my storage goes to various cloud services
I download almost nothing
I never keep a lot of tabs open
I clear the history and cookies several times each day - necessary to beat various newspapers paywall
I never visit shady sites that I think might be trying to harm my computer

it's not so much not wanting to spend money on a new computer
it's just that I hate the process of having to choose one

so far, it's lasted 6.5 years which is not very long, but longer than average I think

would like to hear from others about how long their computers last and whether or not they baby the computer as I do
or other things to do to make the computer last longer
thanks

I store almost nothing on the cloud(I kind of forget about that option)
I download bunch of stuff I don't need.
Right now I have 35 tabs open and it's a very slow day just after a restart.
I almost never clean my cookie or browsing history.
I use sites like movies123 and watch series.

Jack (Murph the Surf) Murphy has passed
he pulled off one of the most spectacular jewel heists in U.S. history
he stole the Star of India from the Museum of Natural History
his personal life story is sensational, but he was also a convicted murderer

I buy 1000ís of Lenovo laptops for work and they are very solid machines. We hardly have any issues with them, even the ones that are abused on construction sites.

Typically we replace them every 3-5 years but hardly ever because they are broken.

The biggest thing you can do to improve the speed and lifetime of your laptop is to buy one with an SSD.

The other key to buying a laptop from any brand is to buy the business series and not the consumer series. Consumer laptops are by far less quality across the board.

For Lenovo the business laptops are Thinkpad T and Thinkpad P series

For dell its the Vostro or Precision

For HP itís Elitebook or Zbook

Mcdonalds is the highest profit fastfood. Why would anyone do an ROI of 10%. To break even in 10 Years. Im guessing Long johns is around 3% or 2%. I recall one mcdonalds owner was working overtime and earning less than 30K /year.

Iím sure Iím way behind the curve on available math apps, but was just looking at a selection of recommended apps on my iPad and saw Microsoft Math Solver. Just point your camera at a quadratic equation and it produces the work and result. Even produces charts or graphs.

(Now I will learn this was new 10 years ago. : )

I calculated burger king with a revenue of 2 mil a year. And 20 workers per location per day. Operating cost is above 90%. Profit ~5% Each employee making 40 hrs. Would mean 15% of revenue goes to payroll.

One man owned all the burger kings in my town. They went bankrupt. An ex burger king manager told me everyone up to the supervisor was stealing. Another manger sued burger king for non payment of her last paycheck. Another burger king supervisor applied to work for us has class A theft. The first manager said everyone knew what was happening behind the owners
back.

The break even point is if every worker stole $15 a day. If the owner is making 100k per year per location.

The second manager sued him for her last paycheck and won. She said that she vowed never to work for another restaurant and is working in a hospital cant remember What position. I visited her home bc her husband used to work for us. I felt her judgmental to restaurants. So if you witness over $150 in theft per shift and the restaurant goes bankrupt. And You expect the owner to take a 60k loan to pay off 200 workers that were stealing from you.

I found a shrimp stuffed in the freezer drain pipe. I used co2 to blow it out. The freezer fan covers prevent food from entering drip pan. I cant remember which co worked on it. motors were periodically being replaced due to ice build up until i found the shrimp and adjusted defrost timer and moved thermostat location. It was one of the brick and mortar co. Before i got certified the ac and plumbing repairs bills were ~350k For 6 ocations.
