One of us will have to post something more substantial if we wish to debate the matter. Perhaps it is different in different areas, but the majority of the women in this area in the 18-29 range are unwed Mothers, many of the fathers are relatively unheard from most of the time, ergo, I conclude that they do not like chivalrous men.

I would be extremely surprised if 50.0001%+ of all women 18-29 in your area are unwed mothers. That seems way, way, way too high for me.

Mission may be overstating things, but in the government-raising-families world that *some* considerable percentage of women live in, males can start to be viewed sort of like bee drones etc. The male comes along and fertilizes the female, then might go away; pretty soon it's disturbing unless he *does* go away.

Feel free to come to my area, we will go to three different grocery stores and will ask fifty different women in the age range indicated from each store whether or not they are mothers and whether or not they are married. I am willing to wager up to $100, Even Money.

you've got some big selection bias going on there... unwed mothers are way more likely to be in grocery stores than wed mothers or non-mothers.

but, anyway -- you'd still lose. 50%+ is way too high. Too bad your max bet is $100 because that wouldn't cover travel expenses to conduct the experiment.

Cool, but I'm in Eastern Ohio.

50% is not too high. If you think it is, you haven't been to this area for a long period of time. Trust me, at 50% (not to mention me picking when we go to the store) I have the best of this by a great measure. House Edge 20%, you'd be wise not to bet me on this one, but I'm covering up to $100 in action.

I've never even been to eastern ohio. I am just basing my faith on general knowledge of demographics. If you said that the majority of mothers 18-29 in your area are unwed, I'd probably agree with you. But the majority of all women in your area 18-29 are BOTH unwed and mothers? It's just too much. There are huge swaths of women 18-29 who are married, and there are huge swaths of women who are not mothers. I bet if you add all those together (not double counting anyone) you get more than 50%.

I might be wrong, but it would be nice if we could have some way to look this up. Maybe Census data? What's your county?

I'm going to reconsider, retract my bet, and amend my statement to the following, "The majority of women that I encounter, who are between the ages of 18-29 are both unwed and are mothers." I really failed to consider that I do most of my stuff during the daytime hours on weekdays, because of my work schedule, which also happens to be around when the unwed mothers are doing their stuff. The wed mothers are more likely to have jobs, or something meaningful to do during the daytime hours, than the unwed mothers, thus, I would encounter a disproportionately low number of them.

I also manage a hotel, so I see a number of unwed Mothers from the area in said age range get rooms with soon-to-be absentee fathers after said soon-to-be absentee fathers get done impregnating the unwed mothers with the child that will make them unwed mothers the second, third, or fifty-second time around.

However, if you accepted the bet to such extent that I pick the stores and times, then I would definitely go $100 on that.

Just how many men marry women they're afraid of? And why?

Most guy's don't marry women they are afraid of. What happens is, the women get there hooks into the guys. They put on a small act at the beginning. You may even get everything you want. A guy might became less independent and more dependent on her( meals, shopping, washing ,cleaning, even bill paying and fiances sometimes) She starts building power. As time goes by they learn your weaknesses and things that will annoy the hell out of you. Lets just say they have you by the balls. Yeah, that doesn't work as well as you might think. I made more than both of my fiances and my eventual husband. It eats at a guy (and I was careful to NEVER make it an issue, because it was the situation when we met), and in each case it was at first a non-issue, then became one for them, not for me. I still haven't cracked that nut, but I'm also not willing to live only on a man's earnings (not that any of them asked me to), so maybe I never will. I hate it when something that's irrelevant becomes the focus of a problem that wouldn't exist otherwise.

So take a video recorder & do the experiment @ random grocery stores due to the cost of travel expenses. However, I as well believe you have ahuge bias. I think you should include in your experiment places other than grocery stores in order to disprove your bias.
Also, are you talking about just "your" area of Ohio .... or as an overall statewide? That as well will make a difference as to where you prove your hypothesis.

I'm talking about just my area, not the entire State. Like I said, my statement was largely empirical and, with respect to actual statistical accuracy, I could be wrong, but it's darn close. I certainly know that, only considering the people I run into on a day-to-day basis, it's not even close.

This general area (forty miles in any direction) is about as white-trashy an area as you'll ever find, except for the African-Americans in this area, the majority of whom are trashy, but are not white trash. "Trash," is an adjective that could accurately describe at least 75% of all people in this area, though, even though there are nice little pockets here and there in the county, such as the little town I live in. Half of the people in my town are poor, but not trashy, there are a few trashy people, though...heroin's a Hell of a drug.

Doesn't matter, moving in two years, so that's good.

Yeah, me too, that was the reason I never dated anyone in February, that's the ticket... yeah.

Valentines day is very formulaic. Card + one of flowers, chocolates, or a home cooked meal, and if that ain't enough, -- too bad! Turn the tables on them at that point (what did you do for me???). The expectation to go out on Valentine's day is the worst because then you gotta think about reservations, and the service is usually bad because restaurants are packed and servers are pissed off because they see you enjoying Valentines day and they get a bunch of patrons who don't go out enough and don't know how to to tip.

For the most part she is great, however in any relationship especially after 14 years there will always be some problems or things you don't like.

often times people stay together because of kids, we don't have any so that's a non issue.

I'm not sure if its a good thing or bad thing, but her birthday/ my birthday/Superbowl(my valentines day) and Valentines day are all about the same time. I just know, my holiday season starts in November and dose not end till after Valentines day, then sure enough our anniversary pops up few months later.

There are no African-Americans in your area. It's 98% white.

93.6% for the County, 94.2% for the closest city with a population of 5K, or more.

The County Population is 69,671, so call it 70K.

I don't know the specific number of African-Americans who are incarcerated in the State Prison that count towards Belmont County's population, but when I pull up data for Richland Township (the Township the prison is in) with a population of about 13k, I see that 10.4% of Richland Township's population is African American, so...

70000 * .064 = 4,480 African Americans

Richland Township = 13,600 * .106 = 1442 African Americans

Okay, Richland Township is otherwise close to Saint Clairsville, so let's say that Richland Township otherwise should have the same African-American population as Saint Clairsville (2.7%), then it could be argued Richland Township would otherwise have (13,600 - 2,692---total population in prison) * .027 = 295 African Americans who are not in prison meaning approximately 1,147 are in prison.

Therefore, when we subtract the prison population from the County population we have 69671-2692 = 66979 who are not in State Prison.

The African American population for the County is 4% overall which is 69671 * .04 = 2787 and 2787-1147 = 1640 who are not in State Prison.

The Population of African-Americans who are not in State prison is thus 1640/66979 = 2.44853% in Belmont County.

Therefore, we are not 98% White as this number doesn't include our Hispanic or 2+ races population.

***Does not include County Jail numbers.

I'm not racist. I hate everybody equally! :-)

Don't worry I was being silly. Can't seem to say anything today without offending somebody. Except in casinos....

And she hasn't asked you to put a ring on it????

That would piss off my wife J/k

We have often talked about it, just never got around it, for various reason some financially related related. At this point it's more of a why even bother situation. Besides she has a ring anyways.

Don't Jehovah witnesses think that only about 140k people or so are predestined to be saved? I'm assuming that applies to all of human existence so the percentages would be really low that you would actually be saved.

I believe the bible talks about 144k natural Jews and righteous Jews will enter the kingdom of god. Not just JW believe in this. That's one thing religions don't like to talk about, because people would then not try as hard, once they realized the odds of them being perfect enough to get into heaven, would be slim since there would be much more deserving people.

Particularly next year, 3.14.15

If you're rounding to 4 decimal places, then it's 3.1416 (rounded from 3.14159). So really, 3.14.16 is the monster Pi day.

But if we want to get really technical, then we should all be on ISO 8601 anyway. Neither 2015-03-14 nor 2016-03-14 are really all that special.

mm/dd/yyyy is the most daft way I know to write a date.

Just sayin'.

Absolutely agree. ISO8601. It's the only way.

31/4/15

Shame there's no 31st April, eh.

But 31/4/15 in yy/mm/dd is 15th April, 2031.

Good pie comes to those who wait.
