For whatever reason, I get the impression that most of the people here on this forum are in the 35-55 age range. But then again, I could be wrong.

So how old are you?

Old enough to remember the guys at the Rollerama

and black motorcycle boots with horseshoe heel plates
so you can hear them coming down the hall.

Old enough to remember when Father Knows Best

prime time. Old enough to remember when the
nightly news shows on CBS and NBC were 15min

I've been around long enough to know,
I'd prefer Roulette with one zero;
I shouldn't play Video Keno,
Though, young enough to give it a go.

I get that no number should I place,
Nor is there a good number to buy;
If it is pressing I want to try,
I'll double my Pass on a win and hope to get by.

I've learned to let the odds be my guide,
I don't need a made hand to Let It Ride;
Don't think my Hard-Four set affects play,
I still like to set them anyway.

Young enough to play when I'll likely lose,
But old enough to stay away from booze;
Because last time I took too much in,
I hit to seventeen, then hit again.

I thought it was a five, eight and three,
I really shouldn't play, if I can't see;
I tried poker and fared no better,
Know it's a face, can't tell what letter.

I'm finally old enough that it,
Makes sense to bet that fave number of mine;
When the croupier spins ivory,
I say a silent prayer for Black-29.

Look at the median and mean.
Good sample.
Group together all 34 and younger, and all 55 and older. Interesting. Good scatter pattern, good middle, weighted to where you thought.

Old enough to do all the things I couldn't do when I wasn't old enough.

Old enough to be able to tell you why Saturday Night Live is 90 minutes.

Old enough to remember watching the short sermon and prayer before the tv station went off the air for the night, and the morning farm reports when they came back on the air.

Old enough to remember "Duck & cover" (and kiss your ass goodbye).

Well, there were a number of sketch comedies before SNL, but its predecessor on Saturday nights on NBC was "The Best of The Tonight Show" (which I have a feeling is also the reason why SNL was 90 minutes).

Bonus round part 2: SNL wasn't on every weekend in its first year; instead, NBC aired a news magazine show called "Weekend", named for the fact that it aired "the first weekend every month" (except for one month when it was delayed by a week because Eric Idle was only available to host SNL on a particular day). Why didn't they just have SNL every week?

Yep.

Titled, "The Best Of Carson", they were just reruns. OK, they tended to select the better episodes, but that's what aired at 11:30 on Saturday night.

And back then, the Tonight Show was 90 minutes, which is why SNL is 90 minutes.

I like this "I'm old enough to remember game..."

..... I cant think of anything. I'm 27 so I guess that makes me old enough to have placed wagers when the economy was doing pretty good. I would also say that I was in the last generation that we kids all played outside instead of video games. We'd play SNES and whatnot but most of our experiences was playing baseball till it got dark, and freeze tag or something like that.

When I was 18 years old in Texas, I could drive down the road while drinking a beer and not wearing a seat belt. It was all perfectly legal. No one younger than me can make that claim (well, no more than a few weeks younger). Do I wish my kids were allowed to do this? No way!

Don't forget about the mid to late 80's when WWF's "Saturday Night's Main Event" would occasionally take SNL's spot. Yup I would stay up late to watch it.

Each SNL show begins with a short sketch that concludes with the phrase "Live from New York it's Saturday Night." Why don't they say "...Saturday Night Live"?

When I was in high school we had a ten minute break after 2nd period during which students could go outside to the designated smoking area and have a quick cigarette. They wouldn't be allowed to smoke again until lunch time.

Because the show was originally called "Saturday Night" (or "NBC's Saturday Night").

"Saturday Night Live" was a short-lived program on ABC at around the same time. I have no idea how NBS acquired the rights to use the 'Live' name...

Correct, the original "Saturday Night Live" on ABC was a variety show hosted by Howard Cosell. If you are thinking that sounds like a bad idea, it was worse than you can imagine.

Thanks for the compliment, I did write that on the fly! I've never played while as drunk as the poem would indicate, (or while significantly impaired by alcohol at all) but the rest of it is all descriptively true.

Median Ages around the world
Monaco 48.9
Japan 44.6
Italy 44.3
Germany 43.7
Switzerland 41.3
Canada 40.7
United Kingdom 40.5
France 39.7
United States 36.9
Brazil 28.9
Mexico 26.7
El Salvador 23.9
Belize 20.7
Honduras 20.7
Haiti 20.5
Guatemala 19.7

I would call that a safe bet. If the median age of Americans is 36.9, and there are no children on this site, you can bet the median age on this site is going to be about 10 years higher than that of the country.

There are only a handful of Latinos on this site, and they are balanced out by Europeans.
