Finger across the throat...or did he give you a California howdy?
Some of us had lunch together; we played craps for about two hours; we got a group photo of those willing to be seen; wandered down Fremont to gape at the side show and check out a Sigma Derby game, and then we headed back to the buffet at MSS to dine together before going our various ways for the evening. Looking forward to the lunch gathering Saturday.

Quote: DocThis evening, my wife and I walked through ParisLV to verify just where the Sugar Factory is located. It appears that there are two entrances, one off the casino floor and one from the street. Has anyone said where we are to meet on Saturday? Is there an official reservation?
Nareed doesn't have internet access but texted to ask that I pass along that we should use the entrance on the strip.
isn't.
Quote: EvenBobSo has Ahigh shown up? Rw4potus? Who's there and who
isn't.
Yes and yes.
AcesAndEights, DRich, SonBP2, Loach, Tupp, MrV, Paisiello, HotBlonde, MidwestAP, Ahigh, Ahigh's son whose name I keep forgetting, rdw4potus, Nareed, Doc, Mrs. Doc, and the Wizard.
My apologies for errors in spelling and formatting of user names. Let me know of errors, and I'll mend that list. Not a bad turnout, I'd say. We expected PaiGowDan, but he didn't show. There was also an impression that AceofSpades would be there, but that might have been obsolete info.
I guess I should let the Wizard tell his version of the saga about being late to the party and also about the trivia contest.
We had lunch today at the Sugar Factory, as planned, then lost money at $3 min craps at Casino Royale, for which the location and game were planned but not that outcome.
Quote: Beethoven9thSo Ahigh did show up?? Sounds like he was behaving himself though...since the Wizard & everyone else was there...
Ahigh was there for lunch and craps. I bet against him on the Don'ts and he picked off several of my bets before passing the dice as he had to go. The next shooter promptly seven'd out so I think I was about even on the hand as a whole.
It was great to meet everyone! My legs/feet are toasted from walking around everywhere and standing at the craps tables. I may have to start grabbing a stool like the old guys gambling away their superfluous 401(k) dividends by taking out multiple $1000 markers at the Bellagio craps table. Seriously I saw this guy and he is awesome. (I'm only guessing about the superfluous 401(k) part but he seemed well dressed.)
Anyway, icing my post-ACL-op knee and also my feet and also my bankroll. One more day to try to come even!
Quote: AcesAndEightsAhigh was there for lunch and craps. I bet against him on the Don'ts and he picked off several of my bets before passing the dice as he had to go.
You know what this means, don't you? Ahigh will be back to say he didn't 7-out and had to pass the dice because he had to go somewhere else. This will mean a new title for Ahigh: "He who did not 7-out." :-)
Quote: AcesAndEightsSo funny story...I should probs be more discreet, but whatever, I'm not coming back to Vegas for serveral monts at the very earliest.
I got backed off at MSS on Thursday playing BJ, but I figured they'd be fine with my craps action today. Turns out my back off was actually an 86 and I got a very stern GTFO from the same pit boss before I even bought in at the craps table just now. WTF! As Doc remarked, are they afraid I'm going to count the pips on the dice or what?
LOL. Bummed I missed out on the meeting today but I'll see you all tomorrow. Stay paranoid, casinos!
Can you elaborate? Are you saying that you were trespassed?
Quote: 1BBCan you elaborate? Are you saying that you were trespassed?
I was not read the tresspass act but it was made very clear I was not welcome on any Boyd property. I suspect they would have tresspassed me if I tried to come back at all. And I was only spreading $25-150 on a shitty NDAS DD game ferchrissakes.
I heard from him.
My wife and I decided to while away this afternoon in part at the Silverton. Watched the mermaid and fish for a few minutes, then I bought in at the craps table. I started to ask the dealer whether Aaron came there any more but decided not to. A few minutes later, I looked to the other end of the table to watch the throw, and who do you think the shooter was? I completely missed him when I got there. He fared better than I did for the session, breaking even while I lost.
I was there in spirit, perhaps hung in effigy.....
Quote: HotBlondeOn a side note I'm about to eat and then walk over to Caesar's to see about A ticket to see Shania this evening. If anyone is staying at any of the Caesar's properties and knows about any hook-ups or discount tickets please met me know. I'm going to see what I can cook up when I go over there, maybe I can get an "extra" ticket someone doesn't want or strike up some sort of deal.
I hoped you enjoyed the show. My daughter and I went last December. I really don't think you'd be able to get discount tickets for the show. But let us know.
I loved it so much!! I got choked up and teary-eyed when she first came out and I literally clapped and sang to every song. She was so beautiful and sang so well. I've ways loved her music. Super great show, I recommend it to everyone, even if you're not particularly a fan of hers.Quote: boymimboI hoped you enjoyed the show. My daughter and I went last December. I got a ticket in the back if the Orchestra seating for $91 total with tax and fees.

Some of us are missing from the above pictures, including Doc. We were both fussing with our time-delayed pictures, and could not get them to go off at the same time. While these were taken Doc was still fiddling with his camera.
Here is the story of why I was 1.5 hours late. Remember, the lunch started at noon. At about 11:15 AM I was on my way from Flamingo and Swenson where SONBP2 and myself were doing a "truth in advertising" investigation you'll read more about later. On the way I could feel my tire was low on air. So, I pulled over and found it to be completely flat.
The spare little tire had never been used before but I got it on in the hot Vegas afternoon weather. However, with the full weight of the car on it, the spare was totally flat too. I figured it just needed an inflation so I found a gas station and tried to fill it up. After about three minutes of injecting air into the thing it wasn't getting bigger at all.
At this point I wasn't that far from the Paris, but I wanted to put as little mileage as possible on that flat spare. According to the map feature on my iphone, the closest tire place was on Swenson, near the airport. However, between the fact that it is a one-way street, that I can never recall seeing the place before, and that they didn't answer their phone, I decided not to attempt finding it. The next closest was the Llanteria Tropicana. For the non-Spanish speakers, the word for tire is llanta, so a place that sells tires would be a llanteria. By the time I got there my tire looked like this:
They were running rather busy but they eventually put on a used tire (they don't sell new ones) and I was on my way. Foolishly I went westbound on Tropicana and turned right on the Strip. What a mistake that was on a Memorial Day weekend. It took about 25 minutes to get from the MGM to the Paris. It made me remember why us locals hate to go to the Strip.
I finally made it there, gave my hands a good washing, and found everybody. My apologies again for being so late. Thanks for waiting everybody.
The person hiding behind the Wizard is MidwestAP, who likes his photo on the internet about as much as EvenBob. What catches me by surprise is that another participant who avoided the camera earlier is right there in full view. I'll provide names to all the faces when I post my own photos.

I'll get as many of the names as I can remember. Yeah, I just didn't want a close-up picture mostly. Plus with all the time I put in at the craps tables, I don't think anyone will ever suspect me for a serious AP :).

There were several more people who were at lunch but had to run off or didn't know we were doing a group picture.

Yes, see my signature line. I'm thinking of making a t-shirt out of it.
In other random trip-related comments, I feel bad that I stayed up until about 6am Saturday morning and hence was so tired when I cut my losses at the CR craps table I didn't have the energy to gamble anymore with WoV folks. My excuse for not planning any other group gambling sessions was that I was going to be counting cards the rest of the trip, which isn't exactly a social activity (although I'm getting good enough now that I can carry on at least a superficial conversation while playing skillfully). But, I totaled exactly 2 more blackjack sessions after Saturday afternoon, so it would have been fun to meet up again for anyone who likes to play craps, or anyone who wanted to teach me PGP, tiles, UTH, or any of those other games that I don't really play. But, alas, perhaps next time.
My trip ended up positive, although it almost went sideways in a hurry. At one point during the trip I was no longer a lifetime winner at craps (check my blogs and you'll see how much money that means I had lost, I'm embarrassed to come out and say it). However, I caught a hot table at the Flamingo early Monday morning and another one at Paris just before I went to the airport and so, for this trip, the dice gods only managed to take about $600 of my money. I was even pressing up my come bets at points at both of those tables, which I almost NEVER do. It managed to confuse a few dealers since they can't do the same off-and-on move when a number hits if the new come bet is for more money. Amazingly, after pressing up from $25 to $50 the tables continued to dump money instead of taking that as a sign to turn to ice. And let me tell you, that $350 off-and-on every time a box number hits feels good :).
Hopefully I'll get a full trip write-up in my blog before the end of this week.

Gee Alan M too bad you couldn't make it he would have done that same thing to you if you were betting against him! But that is what you get when a guy is nothing but a so-called random shooter!!!!!!

Lets see chalk one more up for Ahigh, but I thought Ahigh was going to stay out of the Silverton!!!!!

Nah, one of those guys was there. And it looked like they got along relatively OK. At least, they played next to each other and nobody wound up bleeding.

But in regards to the above comments I quoted, I have to say that there was one person who was at the get-together this weekend who I remembered as bashing me in my Hot Blonde Challenge thread. People who have met me in person may have noticed I'm a relatively upbeat and positive person, and although I don't like to dwell on negativity I did approach one of those people saying, "Weren't you one of my "enemies" in my thread?" to which he responded something similar to, "Yeah, but you know, it's the Internet, anything goes." (Again I am not quoting but paraphrasing.) I don't remember exactly what I said to his response but I was not satisfied with it, saying something along the lines of that he had no excuses. So I have to stress that opinion, it doesn't matter whether you're posting stuff "online" or not, your character is everything.

Come on now HotBlonde,.. I know you must have gotten some satisfaction from seeing the look is their face when you introduced yourself! I know that I have on many occasions,.. introduced myself just to see that look on their face. After they wrote somethings that were not true about me and never even met me before, only because I'm one of the few guys that will tell it like it is about becoming a DI. They don't like to hear that what they are reading is nothing but fiction, by a few of our great fiction writers on the game of craps.
These guys will jump on the band wagon, without even meting you, so they can fit in with the rest of the guys! I introduced myself to one of the guys that has been writing BS about me when there was a class in town not to long ago, after the guy that wrote a bunch of BS was praising my shooting. I could resist seeing the look on his face, when I told him who I was. The way I handled it was for him to tell the guy that was giving the class that I said Hi, because he also love to BS about me. I killed two birds with one stone!
Funny that the guys that said they were coming to Ahigh,.. didn't show up, then weren't they the ones that love to do nothing more then say he doesn't know what he is doing, aren't they still trying to cut him down! Even when he showed the guys at the craps table a thing or two, they are still talking BS about him!
Some poster's love nothing more then to stir the pot as they hide behind a magic curtain, where nobody can see who they really are!

So Ahigh did nothing but win? Wow, thats quite

This reminds me, so before I forget...
The Tonopah Station casino advertises live BJ on their website, but they have no live table games. When I pointed that out to their staff, they were less than apologetic.
Quote: BeardgoatSo I assuming MrV didn't want to be photographed? I thought he was there?
Thats right, where's V?
He was at every event, then I'd blink and he'd be gone. He was at lunch at Paris, and he was at Casino Royale later. But he wasn't with us in between (so, no picture)
Quote: EvenBobThats right, where's V?
MrV participated in the group events on both Friday and Saturday, but he declined to be in the group photos. I do have one shot of him at the lunch table, and I think I got his OK on that one, but I probably should verify that before I post it.

I don't remember that conversation, and I surely hope that's not me you are referring to. I did make comments many moons ago about that thread and how it had turned so nasty, but I don't recall saying anything against you.
This weekend I said that thread was like a bar that should be shut down NOT because the owner is breaking the law but because people keep getting shot there. I thought you rather agreed that the discussion had gotten out of hand.
BTW, for those of you who weren't there, at dinner Friday night I asked for a show of hands of everyone who had ever been suspended from this forum. The majority of the attendees raised their hands.
