WOW!!! Simply amazing!
Their marriage has survived variance and led to positive EV...
he will probably tell you he cheated.

And I thought I was a non-romantic!
Quote: ewjones080It would've been funnier if they had said, "Since last night at his great grandson's bachelor party!" haha.
Or if she said: "Just an hour. I'm a "rental."

It must be terrible to go through life as such a cynic Wong. I have been with the same lady for over 45 years and have several friends together similar times. None of us have ever had affairs. For those working their way through a long term relationship it is +EV.

Agree 100%. I ignored Wong's comment, because I didn't want to waste my time responding to a garbage statement. But I'm glad you did Kenarman.

Congrats, Kenarman! And agree wholeheartedly!

You should be careful offering that bet. I highly suspect you'd be on the end of negative EV.

I used to DJ weddings. Two weddings a week for two years. In every one of them, I did a married dance, then ending of which is where the couple that had been married the longest dances with the newly wed couple. I would ask the elder couple on mic how they stayed together for so long, and about 75% of the time, the man would reply, "earplugs".
My apologies for pointing this out, but I believe the Honore de Balzac quote should be, "...Neither eaten, slept, thought or lived..." Your signature says, "Slept through," please don't take it as an insult because I rather like you.
I do the marriage duration dance too.
The best reply I ever got from a husband was: Just remember: "Yes dear" works a lot better than "I'm sorry"
The best reply I ever got from a wife was: There are two rules to a good marriage. Number 1, the wife is always right. [pause] OK, make that one rule.

Well bloody hell, you are quite correct. Bad retyping on my part, or possibly a dodgy character scan when I took from a image of the book.
Corrected, thanks. Been like that for a while.

How many people even know what trente-et-quarante is.
There's only ever been two games played at Monte Carlo
and trente-et-quarante is one of them. How hard do you have
to guess to figure out the other one.

Two? I think it's three traditionally, and more now. It might have only been two in 1829, though.
Balzac was writing about the Paris casinos in the "Magic Skin"... makes for a interesting story, and there's some great descriptive writing in it.

You're welcome!

I think they meant in the main gaming room. It offers all
the games most casinos offer now.
The Salon Europe, which is the main gaming room, I think, spreads all three.
Anyways, 1829, the casino wasn't open, I read (opened in 1856 in a different location, 1878 for the full Grand Casino).
