I got a call from sbux today to set up an interview, they told me they pay their employees here a huge $7.35 an hour, I have never worked a job that paid such a low wage before. I may have to accept it for the time being so I can make some money. On top of that I have to go out and spend $60 to get a health card, that is basically a days wages just to be able to have a job. I really hope I hear back from the Stratosphere. As for my dealer audition, even though everyone passed, they only hired one other person and it was not me.

You need a sheriff's card to be a dealer also, so the food handler's card is minimal.

Club Fortune is Asian owned so let me guess the one they hired was an Asian female???

The following is assuming you are talking about Starbucks.

I had a friend, albeit many years ago, who worked for Starbucks. While it's true she made minimum wage, she did get quite a bit of money in tips every day. Personally, I'm not a drinker of coffee, and thus do not normally step into a Starbucks, but I have been to the stores with other people, and it seems like everyone always drops a buck or so into the tip jar. With the sheer volume of people that Starbucks supposedly serves on a daily basis, I could definitely see this tip money adding up.

In addition, she received stock options somehow, but I don't know if that was a special program or something that came with the job. At the time, she did really well with those options as Starbucks was still growing wildly at the time.

Tips are probably a fairly substantial part of the income. Given that there are usually 4-5 people working at the same time, a busy shift probably would yield $3-4 / hour in tips.

As well, Starbucks is a large company where you can work your way up the corporate ladder. They have a regional office in Vegas. And you get medical and a pile of other decent beneifts including some free coffee and tuition reimbusement. So, figure $10 - $11 / hour. At an apartment with rent of $600/month + $150 utilities, you'll be fine.

It's a start. You'll work odd hours too meaning you'll have time to find other meaningful work.

Keep your chin up.

If you've paid attention to Nick's posts in other threads, you'll know that he used to work at StarBucks where he used to live - and HATED it.

I assume he's considering it because, at least he already knows the drill.

I need to get a job and I am ready to take what ever I can get, I am surprised I am eligible for rehire since I threatened to sue the company for slander.

Starbucks slandered you? How?
