Otherwise, you might as well change the site's name to "Blizzard of Bullsh*t."

I dunno. "I'm the Wizard of Bullsh*t. I run the blizzard of bullsh*t." has a certain ring to it:-)

Oh, hardly all of them. IN three years and a few days, surely others have found occasion to do so as well.
Oh, wait a minute, are you saying this isn't a gambling board?
In all fairness, I post off-topic items on occasion, because it is allowed, and it interests me.
But I would not object if the site were limited to gambling only topics, in fact, that would be my preference.

Me too. I know that I'm relatively new here so my opinion doesn't count for much, but all this off-topic crap just clutters things up. It's not a matter of "just not reading the threads" because they show up in the recent posts list, and the snr is really low (it's like telling someone to just ignore spam, instead of getting a decent spam-blocker). Blocking them doesn't help that much either, because new ones are always starting.
Now, if there was a way to block entire sub-forums (not just individual threads) that would be a reasonable solution. That way, as long as people posted off-topic stuff in the correct places (which, for the most part, they do), it wouldn't pollute things for people who don't care. It would be great if I could just block the entire "off-topic" subtree. Is that a possibility?
Quote: DJTeddyBearPlease keep in mind that most (all?) of the non-gambling threads mentioned were started before the DT board was rolled out.
There are a few of us who just need a bit more patience. We have been inundated with non gambling topics for some time now, and the thought of getting back to mostly just gambling makes it hard to wait for the 30 days or so that is left.
I enjoy the gambling posts from most every member on here, so I hope none leave. But I look forward to the crack down on non gambling posts.

As a matter of historical accuracy, this board was never really mostly just gambling threads. Check this nearly 3-year old post:
https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/off-topic/off-topic/346-the-great-eclipse-of-1991/#post574
Or this one: https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/off-topic/off-topic/584-movie-review-up-in-the-air/
Maybe gambling and Vegas dominated for the first few months, but then, as is natural, the threads ran down. There were also plenty of people who got along with each other and like discussing other things. Not to mention plenty of forum sections to it in.
And there's the matter of all the existing threads.

So your claim was the board was never mostly gambling threads?
You know most means 50%, right?
Looking at threads started - Mine are about 80% gambling related.
Looking at yours. (I only went through last two pages) - Maybe 10% are gambling related.
Maybe that's why people think the board has become different lately and are excited for a change.
Quote: FinsRuleYou know most means 50%, right?
I do like a chance to go Trekkie from time to time: "Most" means a majority, or greatest in quantity. 50% is "half." A "majority" is more than half. "Greatest in quantity" means a plurality. So if, say, 45% of all threads are about gambling, and we can group them all together as a single category, and if we include such things as procedures for comps, or stories about what happened in a casino even though gambling may be only tangentially mentioned, then, yes, "most" threads were about gambling.
That does not, however, determine what the board content was "most" about.
Quote:Looking at threads started - Mine are about 80% gambling related.
But since there were other posters who started threads, many of them with more posts than you, that doesn't tell us what "most" threads were about. Only what most of your threads were about.
Also, as a matter of simple logic, starting a non-gambling thread for the purpose of complaining that there are too many non-gambling threads, has the inevitable effect of creating one more non-gambling thread. Strictly speaking, even a thread meant to increase the number of gambling threads is itself a non-gambling thread.

What happens in 30 days? Did I miss an announcement?
