Face trust me that is not my car. It's white, I dunno what type but probably factory since the guy I bought it from just bought it from an old lady who drove the car sparingly. 97 Miata with 53k miles, got it last year.

If it helps man up the car it's a stick.

No need to get defensive. I asked because I want it. That's the exact color I need for my race car.

Djatc. I didn't think anyone would believe that was your car. I posted that as a joke. Sorry.

When I bought mine in 1990 I had never driven a stick shift. The dealer dropped it off at my work and I signed all of the papers. I was very concerned that my first day driving my new car I would burn out the clutch. Fortunately, I made it home with only a few stalls.

People laughed at me for buying stick shift car when I had never driven one. i figured what better way to learn?

No problem I'm not mad. My car has a lot of noticeable features on it so I prefer not to go into detail what it looks like since I don't want to be flagged by casino personnel at the moment.

I had a 2001 silver model. Never heard of it being popular with the gay community but it definitely is a chick mobile. I thought it might be a good way to meet women since So Cal has a couple of Miata driving clubs, although that wasn't the reason for me getting the car.

As has been mentioned previously the big problem with the car is, although it's a fun go-kart to drive, there is practically no cargo space. Whenever I wanted to drive out of town with my girlfriend for the weekend I always ended up renting a car. So although it's great for zipping around town for small errands, it's really not a good primary car to own.

About 3 months after I bought it, I tried accelerating around a turn to see just how good it handled. Ended up fishtailing and crashing into a light poke head on. Wasn't hurt but cost the insurance $10,000 to fix!

About a year later I made the stupid mistake of trying to pass a semi on the right during rush hour. He slowly changed lanes into me and took out the entire driver's side. Somehow, again, I miraculously came out unscathed but the truck driver pulled over, waited a few minutes, and then drove off! A**hole! Ended up selling the wreck to the body shop for about $1,000.

And that was the last time I saw her....

Other cars have been called girl cars. Some Volkswagen models and some Mini Coopers come to mind. Any others? I would never think that. A car's a car.

"Handles well" doesn't mean that you can mash the throttle around turns. It's still rear wheel drive. It doesn't have much power, but still enough power to spin the wheels if you're trying to turn at the same time.

"Handles well" means that it can take turns at higher speeds than most other cars. Which means that your entry into the turn is faster, not that you can floor it through the turn.

Note: trying any of this on the street is not a good idea. Especially in a car with no roof and no rollover protection. I know people (more than one) who have rolled Miatas (it's not as hard as you might think). They had proper rollover protection so they walked away unscathed. You are lucky that when your car slid it was able to slide and you just hit a pole. If the wheel had caught something, it could have ended much, much worse for you.

I realize that now. I was a stupid idiot back then. Now I am just an idiot.
