I got four 15$ comps to casino and free noodle bar for the entire month.
After work today, the plan is for some of us dealers to go to the casino we have comps to. They are going to be playing baccarat and blackjack.
We all love the noodle bar. My plan is to eat there... tip 3$. And have 12$ to gamble with. I will not take ANY money out of pocket. I will not go to ATM. I told my friends to not give me any money at the casino.. if they do, I will never pay them back.
--------
That is the plan... and I strongly feel I have the will power not to dig into my own pocket.
--------
Gamble with only 12$..... what will I bet? What is my stop limit?
If I lose the 12$.. that's it for me gambling wise...
Place the 6 and 8 for 6$ each.
If I get one hit. Come down. Have 21$
I will then bet 20$ Don't Pass or Don't Come
If the point is 4,6,8,10 I will bet a 1$ Hard Way on the point.
If Hardway hits, I'll do full pressure on it
-----If 7 out.. I'll have 40$ then I am not sure if I will book the winner or not..
If the point is 5,9 I will bet a 1$ Midnite next roll.
If the midnite hits.. I will take 30$ odds on the Don't
---- If 7 out... I'll have 40$ or more (if the midnite comes) .. Same as above. Not sure if I will book the winner or not.
at Starbucks. Almost..
If you're a true, down and dirty problem gambler, a hooked through the bag addict... this is a problem. It'd be no different then me going to blow a line thinking "hell, it's my buddies stash, not like I PAID for it or anything". This is called "bargaining", step (I think) 4 of addiction recovery.
If you "feel you must quit all together" then do it. This.... this is not quitting. I don't mean to be the heavy, just speaking as a fellow addict.
Good luck to you, sir

Congratulations on your courage so far. Let us know if you were able to conquer the beast. PLEASE !
I 100% know that 6 and 8 place bets pay 7-6... anyway.
Get to the casino. Eat noodle bar. Considered playing 10$ Player, 2$ Dragon on Bacc... Did not.. Player wins Natural 8.... D'oh..
Go to craps.. wait for new shooter. Point 4. Place 6 and 8. First roll, 6 easy. come down.. this when I realized I only had 19$.. felt foolish... waited. 9... waited.. 9.. saw they were changing stick.. I do 19$ DC... 7.. DAMN.. lol... and that was all my gambling.. I had ZERO urge to pull out any of my own money... I had my bankroll with me.. right in my pocket.. along with debit and credit cards... I had absolutely NO URGE to want to gamble.

Quote: WizardThis is getting out of my area, but it seems to me that if you're trying to kick gambling then it would be playing with fire to even use free play. I don't know how badly the OP is trying to quit, but just the excitement of $12 in free play could cause problems. My opinion of quitting anything is the best odds of success are with the 100% cold turkey approach. The road to relapse always seems to start with a little backsliding. You might consider asking the casino to remove you from their mailing list while you're at it.
I like the cold turkey advice on quitting addictions... however.. I feel I got this.
I have gone the entire year without risking any of my money on sportbook. Again.. I have to add. Was not a New Year's Resolution.. the week just happened to end on that day. People ask me for picks.. I give. They bet.. I sweat the games.. Enjoy it just the same with zero action. I haven't had any urge to risk my own money.
Remove from mailers? Today I went.. got a free meal. 15$ in comps. Gambled it.. Had money in my pocket... access to even more money (did you know casinos have ATM's)... the thought of buying in with my own money didn't even occur to me. Lost the promo cash and dipped.

Gambling for me was never what I considered a HUGE problem. I would not gamble money to where I could not pay rent or car payments. All my bills were paid. Just some times.. ALL my extra income would be spent on gambling. I wouldn't borrow money to gamble. I was pretty good on setting loss/win stop limits. I never lied about my gambling. I find most people brag constantly about big wins... rarely talk about losses.... I actually talk more about losses than my wins. I wouldn't lose sleep over gambling.
So even though there are people with by far more addictions to gambling that I had/have .. still felt I had to quit the habit.. and I feel great since.
I hate to be all negative, but you seem like a person that enjoys gambling way too much to stop gambling. You're going to the casino, using "free play" money, posting sports locks.
You seem more like someone who wants to take a break for a few months than someone who really wants to stop. I think I agree with the other people that say that "cold turkey" is the way to go if you really want to stop.
If you want to kick gambling but not lose the promo value, make one bet with all your comp chips. If you win, take the winnings home. Repeat till promo chips are gone. No loss/win limits, no betting redeemable chips, no stretching comp chips, all in only.

I agree with Wizard here. I'm not hooked and trying to quit, but regardless, when Mrs gets me to go with her for a meal comp or to take my weekly $15 free play offer, I always wind up dropping a couple hundred, even when I don't want to. So I stopped going.

Can't do that, baby... I love reading on Wizard of Vegas forum.
I get $800 a month in promo chips, and $400 in slot play...thats been my only bankroll in the casino for the past 9 months...
Once they stop sending me anything, I'm out.
