This came up in the other thread and Hot Blond gave
an excellent answer. How do you know what great sex is?
Have I had it and not known? Sex is good, its fine, its OK.
But I can't say its ever been 'great'. Is it just me, or is
that the general consensus.

Yes, I've had GREAT sex -- once. Of course, at the time, I didn't realize just how great it was. At the time, I would have voted option E.
That one time is now part of the 'highlight reel'.

The greatest sex I ever had was from a young woman I met one night while playing darts in a local watering hole.
She was homeless and on speed, and had just been kicked out of a guy's home, where she'd stayed for a month or so, learning a "special skill" which I am certain will open many doors for her.
For the past month, at his suggestion, she'd spent a lot of time and energy learning how to and then practicing giving the perfect BJ; her being on speed probably contributed a bit to her obsessive / compulsive approach to the problem.

When I was eighteen, I thought that my sex was lousy because neither me nor my boyfriend had any idea what we were doing. In retrospect, yeah, the sex I had when I was eighteen was the best in my life. Wish I'd been able to appreciate it at the time. What a depressing thought.

One night, we were going at it, and a train was coming... as it got closer and closer, we got more and more excited, and as it blew its whistle RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR WINDOW, we both climaxed like, exploded. Over, and over, and over, it took forever. I felt like king of the world. And she was ecstatic. I will NEVER forget that. It was over 20 years ago.
Oh, our daughter was born 9 months later, so there's another reason to remember it.

Until I got married and the well dried up, I never realized how good I had it back in my early 20's. I had a couple of girlfriends back to back who both had high sex drives, interesting skill sets, and desires to experiment. I had regular great sex for about 3 1/2 to 4 years. If only I could have managed a 3 way with both of them, I would have died a happy man!

i think it's been mentioned but describing sex as great would be subjective and would probably require alot of mediation to agree on a definition. like asking what is the best BBQ ribs. some prefer wet and sweet and others prefer dry and tangy. but if 'great' means hours of continuous sex, then like the marathon i'm glad i did this when i could. :P

I voted only when I pay for it. For it to be great it has to fulfill a set of criterias and standards that I never came close of getting from amateurs. Doing it with a girlfriend is all about emotional attachment and paying for it is all about getting fantastic service. The same applies to many things in life: you can always get a decent home cooked meal but it's hard to get a fantastic one unless you go to a high end restaurant.
