Gene Simmons TV Show

Does anybody else watch Gene Simmons Family Jewels on A&E? I really liked the first 2 seasons, started getting tired of all the phony scripting is the 3rd and 4th, and watched very little of the 5th and 6th. Its all the same, Gene works all the time, doesn't want to get married, blah blah.

The 7th season just started tonight and I'm kinda shocked. They're discussing very delicate, intimate subjects about what kind of person Gene Simmons is. He's always said he doesn't have sex with anybody else but Shannon, and its turning out he does. Its painful to watch, its very real, unlike the previous seasons. I suspect what were seeing is a reenactment of what happened in the off season, we're not seeing it as it really happened. But its still fresh in their minds and its very compelling TV. Gene Simmons is a scumbag as a partner, you can't trust him as far as you can see him. But he's a good dad and a good provider. Shannon is very emotional in the first episode, and that stuff is hard to fake. Gene's 62, he's a little long in the tooth to be hanging out with 25 year old girls, he looks ridiculous. Grow up, Gene.

I just heard it on the Howard Stern show this morning that they are splitting up.

oh, hell, they probably planned to split up and just want to continue to profit from it. Sorry, I am totally cynical about all this reality TV s**t.

Why is it it seems like a lot of these reality tv show marriages split up?

I like this show and I like this family. I saw the previews of this new season and it showed that there was something going on when Shannon pushed the camera away, but I took it as just being something that was over-produced for effect (as a lot of these shows are).

During the episode a couple of seasons back when Gene took the lie detector test and it showed that he wasn't lying when he said he hasn't cheated, I didn't believe it. They could have totally set that up. How in the world can Gene Simmons be a faithful man? That's not possible.

This may all be just a publicity stunt, who knows. Maybe he does cheat and Shannon is ok with it, but they pretend like they're loyal to each other just publicly cuz people would rip on her for being ok with him getting it on the side, since it seems "wrong" (damn Puritan America). If they're both ok with it then it's no body else's business but their own.

You do have to wonder about a man who is with a woman that long and yet doesn't marry her though.

Lie detector tests are notoriously inaccurate. And very dependent on the skill of the operator. Wouldn't trust it tomean anything.

I just watched the first 8 minutes of tonight's show and I do have to say that all of this marriage breakup thing seems COMPLETELY staged. I'm not even going to watch any more cuz I'm not buying into it.

I think the have a don't ask don't tell relationship. Gene brags about being with 5000+ women, he didn't stop just because Shannon had his kids. He will do anything to get out of spending time at home, he loves to travel on 'business' and be surrounded by young women. He doesn't drink and has never done drugs. He acts almost formal all the time, even with his family, like you're never seeing the real Gene Simmons. Even when they go on vacations, he never stops working. He's always on the phone and computer and making deals. The daughter has gained at least 40 pounds in the last couple seasons, the son has a comic book company and got caught blatantly stealing entire pages from other comic books, dozens of times, and his credibility is shot. Shannon has turned a blind eye to Gene's philandering for so long that she's sick of his lies and BS. If they split up, after 28 years and 2 kids, she'll get half of his 400M fortune even though they never got married. Good for her.

I've been around couples where the husband has cheated and the wife is out for blood, and they act just like Gene and Shannon in that interview. She pounces on everything he says, and he laughs it off because he doesn't want to lose half of everything he owns. It all started with Lee Marvin decades ago, when his live in girlfriend sued him and won even though the weren't married. I think Gene promised Shannon he would stop screwing around when the kids grew up, and he hasn't and now she's finally had enough.

Looks like Gene and Shannon are finally getting married...

I honestly think this last season has been fake. Did you see the stunt they pulled on the Joy Behar Show? There are clips on YouTube if you haven't already seen it. I don't believe for a second that they were ever having marital problems.

I'm watching a 2-hour episode of the show right now. I'm about half way through. It looks like they're going to show their wedding in this one.
