Anybody else see POTC 4? It the best one yet and McShane is great as Blackbeard. Not as good he was in Deadwood, but he'll never top that.

Ian McShane has come a long way since Lovejoy.

His opening diatribe was such a world away from the lovable rogue of Lovejoy. It was like Big Bird coming on screen and humping the leg of Oprah Winfrey.

In Deadwood, I found myself wanting to be Al Swearengen's friend, until I realized his friends ended up just as badly as his enemies. Johnny Depp has said playing Jack Sparrow is his favorite character because he's so totally selfish and always has his own interests first. McShane said the same thing about the Swearengen character.

Compare Jeffery Rush's role as Barbossa, to what he did in The King's Speech. Marvelous actor.
