I just watched an interview of Michael Shackleford by Steve Bourie of American Casino Guide about winning on slot machines. I assumed it would be about "banking" slot machines which to my knowledge are the only ones that can ever have a +EV, but instead it was just a discussion of how erasable programable ROM chips work. What a disappointment.

I'd like to the Wizard to address "banking" slot machines: how many there still are, where they are located in Las Vegas, and how big do the various jackpots have to be before the different "banking" machines have a positive return. What do other folks think?

It's a dead issue. The banking machines in Vegas are all but gone. There were simply too many "vultures" hanging around and swooping down on them when the bonuses got high enough. Fights broke out--ill will was generated.

There might be banking machines remaining in other casino jurisdictions, but I doubt it. I've run into "vultures" in Colorado, Tunica, Kansas City, and the Mississippi coast. The Second Great Depression (now playing in a country near you!) increased people's desperation, and probably increased the number of vultures enough to give binusing slots a deathblow nationwide.
The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one. The happiness of credulity is a cheap and dangerous quality.---George Bernard Shaw

There are banking machines here in MN. Green Stamps and...ummm...something where you collect monkeys are both available in a couple casinos. There are vultures, but they're some of the nicest guys I've ever met. It's kind of a surreal situation - maybe like the "minnesota nice" taken to an extreme? Seems like something is amiss if the homeless slot-machine squatter is the nicest person I encounter in the casino.

There are numerous banking machines remaining in the various Wisconsin casinos.

A friend of mine just spent two weeks in the Wisconsin Dells snowmobiling and picked up close to $3,000 with no risk roaming around the various casinos in the state.

A bank of slot machines is a row of slot machines games. This phrase can be used to describe any row of slot machines in any type of business that offers slots. A bank of slot machines doesn't really exist online, since the slots aren't really arranged in rows.
