New Mexico: Tesuque Casino temporarily closed by virus case
Teya Vitu, Santa Fe New Mexican · November 6, 2020 at 3:41 pm

Tesuque Casino has temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the Pueblo of Tesuque Development Corp. reported Thursday.

A proposed reopening date was not given.

This was the first employee of the casino to test positive, the pueblo added.

“The safety and wellbeing of guests and employees is paramount to [the corporation],” Tesuque Development Corp. wrote in a news release. “The decision to close temporarily was made out of an abundance of caution, with the best interests of the community in mind, and in an effort to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 throughout New Mexico.”

Faith Hatton, KFYRTV.com · November 5, 2020 at 7:26 pm

The Turtle Mountain tribal council has temporarily closed the Sky Dancer Casino effective immediately due to increased COVID-19 cases in the area.

The casino will be closed until Nov. 11 at 7 a.m.

The restaurant Grillerz and the hotel will remain open to accommodate professionals helping the community.

The announcement was released at the same time as an updated mask mandate that will be in effect now through February.

A curfew for all businesses and community members lasting from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. will be in effect until Nov. 10.

All of these measures are effective immediately.

Chairman Jamie Azure said tribal leaders have been discussing the health concerns with those through the community to figure out the best courses of action.

Illinois delays new casino licenses because of COVID-19
Leanne Fuller, The Metropolis Planet · November 5, 2020 at 7:42 am

The Illinois Gaming Board is delaying handing out the first round of casino licenses as part of Gov. JB Pritzker’s statewide gambling expansion.

“I know everybody’s excited to get their applications and their casinos and their video gaming permits and so forth. I don’t blame them. I understand that. I endorse it, but we have to do our job as well,” Illinois Gaming Board Chairman Charles Schamadeke said.

The delay comes more than a year after Pritzker announced of a new multimillion-dollar resort and casino to be built in Williamson County.

The board blames the delay on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, saying the novel coronavirus wasn’t a part of everyday life back in October 2019 when the casinos submitted their applications.

Reduced hours, new capacity limits at most Illinois casinos
Christopher Placek, Chicago Daily Herald · November 1, 2020 at 7:00 am

Eight of Illinois’ 10 casinos are operating under reduced daily hours and new capacity limits amid rising COVID-19 positivity rates in most state regions.

The new Illinois Gaming Board rules, the latest of which took effect this week at Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, mean most casinos are open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and capacity is limited to 25%. That’s down from the 50% limit established in July, when gambling houses were allowed to reopen after being closed 3½ months at the onset of the pandemic.

Indoor food and beverage service is suspended, but outdoor service, curbside and carryout are permitted under the state’s rules.

If the casino is closed, take a "simulated cruise."
