So last week the 40 acre lot where Skyvue was going to happen finally sold at auction. This is the lot directly across the street from Mandalay Bay. There are currently two horizontal tubes sticking out of the ground as that is as far as the skyvue project got. This lot is also just down the street from where the Oct 1 shooting took place.

I have been wondering who purchased this lot all week. It seems to be being held pretty secret. Only thing I read was they got it for a fraction of projected value.

I am only interested because I probably have too much time on my hands right now, and I keep hearing Boyd Gaming desires to get back on the strip. I am even hearing they want a place on the strip that they can name.....wait for it.....Stardust or Stardust 2 or something playing off that.

The only thing I am wondering is being that this parcel is on the airport side of the lower strip, if there is some height limitations as to what can be built. They were going to build a giant observation wheel, so restrictions can't be too great.

I would think the buyer have to become public sometime soon, so we will see.

Unrelated in that same lower strip area, it is being rumored that MGM is basically done with Luxor and Excalibur themes and plan to build something new at those locations right in the shadow of the new stadium.

Is that near the lot the Pinball museum just brought? I thought that went pretty cheap, and is much bigger than they need.
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction is supposed to make sense.

The new pinball hall of fame location is just south of Russell. This location is a bit north of Russell almost directly across from Mandy Bay.

I would be shocked if that lot turned into a casino in the next 10 years. If Boyd wants back on the stripit would be much cheaper to buy an existing property from MGM or Caesar's. Both of those companies would be happy to sell a couple of properties.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

I thought the owner was hoping that the increased parking area would bring in more business. That being said, watch the PHOF lot turn into an overflow lot for the nearby Welcome to Las Vegas sign...

Also, that lot is only 120 feet wide; there isn't that much that you can put there.

Going back to the Skyvue lot, is that where they tape the national finals (and specials like USA vs. the World) of American Ninja Warrior? One of the show's producers also produces Hell's Kitchen - is it possible that they want title to a "permanent site" for some reason?
