Quote: WizardI know you're playing against a computer, but can anyone recommend a site where we can play board games against each other live? I used to belong to such sites. Maybe we could challenge each other.
Been playing cribbage on gamecolony since about 2006. Only place I know where you can play for money. But 7.5% rake and fees and no more deposit bonuses. I do find free tournaments often enough to still earn about $3 per year from them on average, so I've got that going for me. Used to have a rock-paper-scissors game with a skill component to it. The variation I'm thinking of is not mentioned on the rock-paper-scissors wikipedia page; that page doesn't use hyphens in the name of that game, but writing it that way feels right to me and I'm letting my emotions control me right now.
In conclusion, gamecolony.com is where I play online cribbage against another person. I also play cribbage on the iphone against the computer. My favorite part is when the game tells me I'm making a sub-optimal move, but I truly know it is correct, because the computer is only trying to maximize points without looking more than one step ahead, and not accounting for defense or board position. My least favorite part is when I play so much I start confusing video poker hands with cribbage hands.

On a more serious note, did you fall off by "accident" any time during the ride ?
I didn't watch the whole video, but around 43;19 I can't tell if you "fell off", or just "got off to get over the bump between the road and the side walk"
Hope you had a nice ride (I am guessing the air was noticeably cleaner?)

No, never did. That incident you mention was a deliberate dismount. You can see me grabbing the handle of the seat. As I recall, I was going to run a red light between the Luxor and Mandalay Bay, but thought better of it at the last second.

Yes, in the audio, which you can't hear, I remarked many times how enjoyable it was and how it was going by too quickly. Yes, the air does seem much cleaner.

Your video will be an excellent history artifact documenting a dark period in Las Vegas and world history. Let’s hope it’s forever the only one of the sort. Thanks for taking time to do that.
But I guess they're probably just leaving them on because "Vegas, Baby...."

I’m always slow to remember the wise words of a former manager: Hope is not a strategy.
As to the lights, some kept on a minimum of lights to get around like the Flamingo and some were almost all the way dark, like the Cosmopolitan.
I liked how many casinos turned on the lights in certain rooms to make a heart or spell out something like "Vegas Strong."

U R funny. Whats next? Expecting corporations to pay their taxes? I'd say if a company paid no federal taxes, that they are entitled to twice that much back in handouts.

That seems fair to me too. I just know that if I pay $50,000 in taxes I don't get anything for a stimulus.

If you were addressing this to me, I think I will get unemployment but my filing hasn't even been addressed yet after four weeks. I don't know what the qualifications are for the federal $600 a week unemployment checks. I don't know if it is everybody on state unemployment or if there are paramteters.

Not the PPP program, but my accountant says I can qualify for two other programs. I had already applied for an SBA loan and a Rural Redevelopment grant before this but these new programs have swamped the lenders.
We got thru September 11th, got thru Sandy and we'll get thru this. My biggest losses from this has been my portfolio. My building is paid for, and I have more money than I need. It's funny but years ago, I saved up a $1,000 emergency fund. Then I slowly built up three months worth of estimated expenses for a rainy day. My plan was to reward myself with that $1,000 when I had $10,000 in the bank, but I never did. I tapped into it a few weeks ago and am still using that without hitting the safety net money, which has more than doubled. I'm also eight months from Social Security so I'm not worried yet.
What sucks is this was supposed to be a proof of concept and it may be stillborn.

Arrive at course. "We changed our minds, no golf carts, walkers only." No email notification. No call (I'm in their computer and they have my number). They wouldn't even let you use their pull carts.
I wish the course wasn't a nice track, and very close to my home. I hate the management there... I've complained about other stupid things before....
So I carried a 30 pound? bag on my back for the approximately 7 mile walk. My putting was like a blind man with Parkinson's.... I'm blaming the carrying....... (not really)
It's funny how much stuff seem extraneous when you have to carry your own bags.

Although I have never tried it, I think I could get around a course ok with just 7I, PW, and a putter.
One ball? I do not think I have ever played 18 holes of golf in my life using only one ball.

Here's something stupid to do during these times. Lift your dying 65lb dog into the car to take him to the vet so he can go in peace. Let your addled mom be less than no help, and hurt your back trying not to hurt the dog when the lift in goes bad. Let her have hysterics and stay in the car when you get there, and take the dog in by yourself and say goodbye.
Then let the twisted back turn into a trapped nerve that gets worse every day and now wakes you up every time you move in your sleep, screaming in pain, and walking crippled. Do this while hospitals and urgent cares are discouraging anyone from coming in for less than life-threatening issues, and chiropractors are not supposed to be working. No home helpers available right now for cooking or cleaning due to isolation and growing infections locally.
Talk about stupid timing.

This, too, shall pass.
In the words of Ben Hur Lampman, there is one best place you should bury your dog.
If you bury him in this spot, the secret of which you must already have, he will come to you when you call- come to you over the grim, dim frontiers of death and down a well-remembered path, and to your side again. And though you call a dozen living dogs to heel, they should not growl at him, nor resent his coming, for he is yours and belongs there.
People may scoff at you, who see no lightest blade of grass bent by his footfall, people who have never really had a dog.
Smile at them then, for you shall know something that is hidden from them, and which is well worth knowing. The one best place to bury a good dog is in its Master's heart.

Babs, sorry to hear about your dog. My vet offers to come to the house to put your pets down. I have used that service multiple times because I was unable to move the dog because they were in so much pain.
I empathize with your back pain. Before my spinal fusion last year I was in so much pain just laying in bed that I was actually contemplating amputation of my own leg. Not kidding.
Strip yesterday morning was completely filled with bikes. It almost felt like they closed off everything, just to allow them. Noticed three homemade / modified bikes. One guy was pulling a huge wood cage for his kids, another one the guy was just standing up, like a two-wheel unicycle, another one the guy was reclined so much it was like he was lying down and peddling.
Been visiting some of the rural areas, looking up the homes for sale and trying to think about what it would be like to live there. Moapa Valley is pretty green and Overton seemed to have decent amount of businesses / amenities and very easy to get back to Las Vegas. Searchlight is a great location, 40 minutes to both Laughlin and Henderson. Except the entire place is just a trailerpark.
Mount Charleston is obviously extremely nice, but over $200,000 for a small hut. Sandy Valley could be considered a trailer park, as most everything was a mobile home, but they were all converted into nice houses, each on at least two acres of land. Some of them looked new and well-maintained on great looking properties for fairly cheap. If anyone is ok with living in isolation, it would be a great place. On the California border about 20 miles west of the world's largest Chevron station, which is always worth stopping at anytime you're taking the 15 to California.
I liked Overton but was told it is a very tight-knit religious community that wasn't particularly friendly to outsiders. Same thing with Dolan Springs.
