Know you're trivia on Three''s Company. Mike will quiz you on it.Quote: CrystalMathMy wife and I started watching Three’s Company on DVD. We have the entire collection. It was originally on air when I was between 2 and 9 years old, so it’s a lot funnier now.
We’ve got 4 kids at home, and the 17 and 18 yr olds have been very difficult and emotional, since we have decided for everyone to stay home. Starting next week, they’ll start online classes, so we’ll see how that goes.

SK makes Lee Child look like a wannabe
writer. Any of King's books before 2000
are fantastic. The Stand, Christine, Insomnia,
Salem's Lot, the Gunslinger series, It,
Firestarter, Green Mile, and of course his
best work, The Shining. King has over 50
novels, get them on Ebay, they have free
shipping.

I'd push for his short stories; the Skeleten Crew collection is fantastic. Though I suppose 'short' isn't quite what we want in this situation.

Have you tried any books by Joe Hill, Stephen King’s son? I read NOS4A2 and it was excellent and King-like.
I'm not sure how available it is, as my copy is a limited edition of 7500 but Cycle of the Werewolf, illustrated by Berni Wrightson was a great read.
Quote: billryanI'm not much of a horror fan, but found Salem's Lot riveting.
There was nothing romantic about
the vamps in King's book. He
portrayed them as the pathetic
and disgusting creatures they
would be if they really existed.
In Buffalo, there is an annual art festival (Allentown Art Festival) that has artists like them at booths stretching for a dozen city blocks selling stuff like this. If it exists this June or July I plan on giving it a try with them. I offered them $1000 for 20% of the profits.... like Shark Tank..... (tongue in cheek)

Quote: MoscaNice list! My top 3 from it are Bull Durham, A League of their Own, and North Dallas Forty.
I’m going to add a little-seen hockey movie: Goon. Loosely based on the book by Doug Smith. About minor league hockey, but like any good movie, not really about that.
Thanks, Mosca. I really should have asterixed North Dallas 40 as well, not sure why I didn't. Nick Nolte's best film, I think. And I will never forget him tweezing the long blood scabs out of his nostrils. (No, not my favorite moment in the movie, but uniquely memorable.)
At about 2:30 near the bus stop, I thought I saw someone walking and thought to myself hmmm, at least someone is out. Then I discovered it was a bug on my computer screen, it was to small for a real human.Quote: WizardSpeaking of stupid things to do during the lock down, I rode my bike from my home in north Summerlin to the welcome to Las Vegas sign and back. It was a great ride -- near perfect weather and car traffic on the Strip down about 80%. Please enjoy.

There were some people out there while the camera wasn't rolling. I was hoping to get a better shot of the jogger outside of Caesars (8:09 point), but you can barely see her in the video. She looked like a female UFC fighter -- very muscular and athletic -- my kind of woman.
Sounds fun. I think they need a manager to negotiate with their investors. You have my number.Quote: SOOPOOSo my wife's daughters were sitting around the kitchen table painting. I was amazed at how good they both were. And how fast they could finish an 8x11 painting. I absolutely will try and make prints of some of them and try selling them once this crisis is over.

Quote: billryanAre the closed shops and casinos boarded up like you would for a hurricane? Somebody in Henderson commented on another forum that plywood was out when he went to Lowes.
I didn't notice any, but neither was I looking. I was on the southbound side of the street, where the doors are generally away from the Strip, and the drives leading up to the doors, like at the Mirage, where barricaded off. You can see that I got right up next to the NYNY door and that wasn't boarded up.
There were a lot of police just sitting there on Strip. I imagine they were pretty bored, but just seeing them makes people behave better.
I might go back, perhaps on my unicycle, and will check for that.

Nice.... in my opinion, female fighters and gymnasts have the best bodies.

Oh yeah.
A couple or seven years ago, I read a book by Nate Jackson, a former tight end for the Denver Broncos: Slow Getting Up: A Story of NFL Survival From the Botton of the Pile. And I kept thinking that the game has changed from the late 60s until now, the equipment and the strategies; but the dynamics of the people is the same.
Peter Gent, the author of North Dallas Forty, was a wide receiver for the Cowboys in the 60s. The book is semi-autobiographical. I would recommend Slow Getting Up.

Good stuff. World Market Center is a furniture store; or more accurately a mall for furniture stores. That description may be accurate, but doesn't really tell the whole story. Open to the public under normal conditions and worth checking out.
Heard that the casinos were paying for the police to be stationed in front to deter any problems people might think about trying. I hope that's reason and they're not just finding places to hang out while they wait for their shift to end.
Anything noteworthy among businesses still open? If you're taking requests for the next shutdown bike trip, I'll suggest a dispensary drive through.
Quote: jmillsMy vote for a first time Stephen King reader would be Dead Zone. Not too long and a great story.
If you really want a short Stephen King then read "The Jaunt".

If they're not heavy into steroids, they're okay.

I didn't buy anything this trip. As a local you know as well as me that about half the restaurants are open for "to go" orders only. Usually you can't even go inside but you have to flag somebody down through the window to bring you your food. Some non-essential businesses are still open. When I went downtown, the Cat's Meow bar was still open. A bike shop here by house is still open, but let's in one customer at a time only and just doing repairs.

Sure!
I've been playing Euchre, Backgammon, Cribbage, Minesweeper, Free Cell, Yahtzee, Spades, and Hearts on the computer.
After an hour I read the latest post on DT or here.
The only interesting thing I do is communicate with my colleagues on the front lines of this war.....
Quote: SOOPOOIn my pre-coronavirus life, I probably watched either an NBA or NHL game 5 out of 7 nights. Golf was on TV sporadically every weekend. I miss it way more than I would have thought. Friends call and say "The best playoff game ever is being replayed....". I have NO interest in watching the re-runs. I can't enjoy if I know the outcome is determined.

I would say about 90% of my tv watching is live sports. I have been watching some replays as long as I hadn't seen the particular game before. I am okay with knowing the result but I hate watching something that I have already seen.
I am not a soccer fan but I have found some live games to stream from other countries.

I know you're playing against a computer, but can anyone recommend a site where we can play board games against each other live? I used to belong to such sites. Maybe we could challenge each other.

Yeah, no heavy steroids. Fitness models, pro-crossfitters, etc. use some juice, but still have awesome bodies. The hardcore bodybuilding pros I'm not into.
Quote: VegasriderI've been watching a lot more porn.
I've been watching less. Being stuck at home with the wife cuts down on private time!
Before the new series came out, I had a chance to talk to one of the people who gets a producers credit. My first question was would there be a Kono character. He laughed and said so many people asked that very question. I was disappointed when he said it was going to be a female Kono, but it turned out alright.
Its strange how at 12, I found the McGarret character kool but now see him as having a stick up his butt.
A linelock burnout on the strip would be cool.Quote: TomGGood stuff. World Market Center is a furniture store; or more accurately a mall for furniture stores. Growing Up South of the Mason-Dixon Line
by Michael Braswell and Anthony Cavender, with Ralph Bland and Donald Ball

Under the Dome is my favorite post-2000 SK book.
But dear god the TV series they made out of it was awful.
I never got around to reading 11/22/63, heard good things though.

Yeah, I would never be tempted to read the book based on the tv show.

I believe the site is
cardgames.io
But when I went to play against others, I think I'd need to have a facebook account, which I don't.
I probably should sign up for one......
If you're a King fan, the first season of "Castle Rock" on Hulu is pretty good.
Got three concentric circles done before the wind kicked up, so I went to step 2 and started gathering the stones to line it. My original plan was to put the stones down so they touched each other but a quick guesstimate said I'd need about 4,000 . If I space them out to one every six inches or so, I can get by with about 800.
I had thought I could knock it out in two days, but I need better equipment. Knee pads, for one. I didn't realise how much time I'd be on my knees placing the stones. Now I know why so many paint them onto pavement instead of starting from scratch.

I've been trying a few sites since you asked about this. So far nothing I'd recommend. Pogo.Com used to be my go-to, but they've dropped most of the classic games.
Found a site out of the UK that had cribbage, euchre, backgammon, chess, etc. Not too bad for ads, but the interface is buggy and weird.
I'll keep looking as I get time.
Yeah, sometimes you just have to pick one chore at random and get it done. It doesn't have to be major or even all that sensible a selection, just do something and hope to get some momentum going.Quote: OnceDearWith stacks of time on my hand and stuck at home, I'm still procrastinating on all those chores that surround me.

My chore today is to replace the air filters for the HVAC system. I ordered 12 filters but only need four. I did something uncharacteristic for me, I bought the more expensive ones with a higher MERV rating.
