Finally CONSISTENCY prevails.Quote: ThatDonGuyJust announced by the Governor: all Nevada gaming, including all slot and VP machines, must be stopped effective midnight Tuesday night (3/17).
With MGM closing a few days ago that means a thirty-four day shut down for them as any prior shutdown basically gets reset due to the directive
Quote: JohnnyQFinally CONSISTENCY prevails.
Yeah...that was my main gripe. Leave Dotty’s open but force senior centers to close?
Close MGM but Planet Hollywood stays open?
I have no idea what the best course of action is but inconsistency is just plain bad.

You should probably send them a letter to make sure they are ok. You can call the police, explain the situation and they'll check on their welfare. I hesitated with my elderly neighbor on night because his tv was always on and it wasn't on that night. I didn't do anything and they found him dead. He was kind of a jerk, liked leaving on Halloween to not give candy on Halloween, so I;m not worried about it and never was.

Quote: rdw4potusFigured I might as well make a planned trip to Mystic Lake to grab freeplay and see what they were doing.
Not sure if you're still around, but both of the Grand Casinos closed.
Quote: MintyNot sure if you're still around, but both of the Grand Casinos closed.
Yeah, they acted really quickly. Grands closed before Mystic and TI even went to mandatory spacing measures. Mystic announced this morning that they're closing at noon and staying closed for at least 14 days. TI closed at 9pm yesterday.
I'm really interested to see what happens during the closures. I know Mystic had layout changes they wanted to make (moving walkways & rearranging slot banks). This would be a great time to put down new carpet or perform any maintenance that requires chemicals with a strong odor.
What will all the gambling addicts do when the casinos all shut down?
Will they flock to the online casinos?
What about people who have money who get bored at home?

They probably all learned their lesson after 2008 when Don Johnson took advantage of their desperation and cleaned them out for millions... haha

I have no idea what their position is when it comes to giving whales great deals either way.
I agree in general this appears to be true
I am hopeful this is a different scenario. It's not a singular casino but the entire industry. Somewhere a casino is going to offer"better" comps than another which will spur that one to up the ante.
Hopefully it becomes a snowball effect when casinos are desperate to revitalize their economy and customer base

On that note...Not exactly a casino, but NYC Gov DeBlasio is "about to order a 'stay in place'". That comment, in context, was part hyperbolic exasperation, but he is meeting with Cuomo today to discuss exactly that. Not sure if there's any gaming that far down, but I know there's gamers there.
School here is closed anywhere from a month to rest of year. With Rochester's first death and it now kicking off in Erie county, I would expect a long wait for Seneca and can only imagine what getting to Fallsview would entail.

Fallsview closed. Some are suggesting DeBlasio does not have the authority to enact a "Stay in Place" order. That it would need to come from Cuomo. I'd prefer that.
At this point, other than AP's for whom the casino is their place of work, or for those actually employed in the casino industry, I'd say casino news would be so low on my list.....
That being said..... I will be at Seneca Niagara within days of its re-opening!

When people work a Monday-Friday 9 to 5 job, this is pretty common. I don't understand why you're concerned. They either were told to work from home or not work at all. A lot of people are facing that right now.
Quote: DogHandIn the South, all casinos in Louisiana and Mississippi are closed as well
The articles are silent concerning Native American casinos, so I presume they remain open.
The Seminole casinos in Florida remain open (mostly, closing poker room, sports betting, etc.).
Not sure what those casinos might be thinking, but governors' shutdown orders apparently do not apply. The Florida Seminoles are pretty savvy business people. Their actions make no sense to me.

Governor can close the roads in and out of a casino. A dozen state troopers and a few speed sticks and no one is going to work or play.

I guess shutting down is optional unless you're a casino here in LV?
Quote: WizardThis is getting out of my area and a bit of hijack, but I think they can make their decision on this.
At least here in MN, that's exactly how the tribes operated. Grand casinos closed about 2 days before the governor ordered entertainment venues to close. Treasure Island closed 4 hours after the order took effect, Mystic Lake closed 19 hours "late". I'm not sure what the minor outstate properties did.

By a casino, I mean one with table games. I am not counting that gas station off the 95 on the way to Mount Charleston. Is that what you meant by a "casino"? If you can give me one with table games, I'll give you 50 push-ups.

Biggest problem will be supply and demand but that will almost certainly arc within a month or two as well.
I'm guessing once the bulk of infection and treatments(even if it's home quarantine for positive persons) are able to be administered the country will feel more confident about reopening

One thing about Freemont Street Casinos is they are so open you almost have to wonder when they last closed the doors, or do they in the winter? Do they even have the keys to the doors?

30,000 tests the first week.
The scale will ramp up just like any industry.
$135 to those people out of work as a get back to work cost will be fine. Some employers may even cover the cost to get their workers back.
And insurance should cover these as well
The average cost of a low-spec blu-ray player is about the same. Americans need to get their priorities straight

Quote: AZDuffmanIs that fencing you are leaning always there or is it closing the actual streer?
It's closing the actual street. There are guards there to enforce it, who moved out of the line of shot of the picture. No, it's not usually barricaded.

I've never seen them close on account of weather -- or anything. Somebody once told me that the doors at 7-11 don't even have locks, because they never close, but I am dubious of that.
