EDIT: Put my post in a spoiler tag. If you are easily offended, don’t bother opening & reading it. Please don’t ban me for simply expressing my thoughts, as I have no intention of insulting or disparaging anyone based on sex, religion, creed, or other things like that.

Bob just said he didn't care to hear about people's sexual preferences.

The first thing that I find curious is EvenBob's assertion that he doesn't care whether or not people are gay and doesn't want to hear about it if they are, but then at the same time he chose to participate in a discussion about homosexuality in an unrelated thread and then to create this thread.

I don't care about the NBA at all. If you presented me a list of 200 current players and asked me to identify what teams they play for, I would probably be correct on five or fewer. I'm not even kidding. I think I'm going to go start a thread to discuss this sport that I don't care about at all and know almost nothing about.

Before I get into the topic at hand, I also want to say that there are entirely too many threads here that are not related to gambling. I also notice that many of the same people seem to be involved in these threads, but not so much the gambling ones, though there is some crossover sometimes. I'm not going to mention any names, but I also suspect there are some people who are completely indifferent to the fact that this is supposed to be a gambling forum, or are outright trying to sabotage it as a gambling forum, by keeping these sorts of threads at the top as much as possible.

We have many gambling subject heavy-hitters who have come and gone and threads like this are the reason why.

We have one person who has participated in this thread where I am surprised to see ANY gambling thread posts by him in his last several posts. You have to go to Page 2 on his posts page, naturally, but they are there.

Again, not naming any names, but if I had complete and total control there are a number of people who I would ban from this site and take it over to Diversity Tomorrow. Some of them would and a few of them wouldn't. A couple of the ones who wouldn't I think are more interested in sabotaging any gambling-related discussion at this site than they are discussing political topics.

I'm not accusing the next two people of sabotage, just talking in general:

I'll name one name, you have EvenBob who hasn't meaningfully posted to any gambling threads since the Nixon Administration which, coincidentally, is also the last time any of his political posts were relevant to or reflective of the society we actually live in. I made it to at least Page 6 of his recent posts screen without encountering any gambling-related threads, I actually wanted to see how many months it had been, but that's tough to do when you're trying to scroll through the posts of someone who posts 973 times per day.

You could take 20-something thousand posts, delete them all and we'll really have lost nothing important to gambling. Arguably, we will have gained.

This also isn't meant as an insult to EvenBob, I like EvenBob, I think he's funny. My point is not that his posts have no value at all, they have plenty of value to a politics Forum, they just have no value to a GAMBLING forum.

Keeping it fair and balanced, you have AMS288 where you have to go three pages to get to anything gambling-related. I did find one gambling thread (Encore Trip Report) and went all the way to Page 6 to find that is the only one.

One difference between EvenBob and Ams288 is that I don't even need to read Ams288's posts to know what they say. I can just Google, "What is the most extreme liberal idea on (topic)," and that will be Ams288's post almost verbatim.

This Forum is what you would have if Fox News and Blaze TV (as the men, of course, lest they get offended) had a threesome with MSNBC and we didn't know who the father was. This baby is UGLY and should have been terminated in the third trimester. "We knew there would be a serious birth defect well ahead of time, but the mother wanted us to carry this out."

We can change it, though, by not having the political threads appear on Recent Threads anymore. Might we get fewer posts per day? Naturally. Will that result in fewer searchable posts overall? Of course. But, at least what we will have and what will be searchable will be gambling related threads that don't make us look like a complete madhouse.

I recommend Diversitytomorrow for the political posters if you don't like that the threads will be hidden. I won't be there, but if you miss me, feel free to come over and talk to me about something that has to do with gambling.

Politics is a sickness. I don't even know why I click these stupid threads half the time. Much less why I get into these discussions. It would be equally productive to sit down on the floor and just tie and untie my shoes for three hours.

Oh, homosexuality, almost forgot.

1.) Gay Pride Parades are about the fact that a person can come out in public as a gay person and theoretically not get the tar kicked out of them or be insulted. It's about the fact that the police will protect them as opposed to turning a blind eye.

2.) Originally, I would say gay people really just wanted to be able to be seen by their boss holding hands in public and know they weren't going to get fired the next day. Certain people didn't want to give them that, so this is what everyone gets.

3.) Marriage should be a civil institution anyway. You can also make it a Religious institution, and that's fine, but have the two as separate from one another. Just because the church marries someone doesn't mean they are married by law and vice-versa. I wouldn't have cared if it had been called a civil union as long as the (mostly financial) rights afforded to heterosexual married couples had been the same.

4.) Gay adoption. Yeah, let's not give kids to potential parents who actually want them. It's much better to have some white trash heroin addict living on welfare in a trailer park get knocked up six different times. They at least claim to be Christians, so it's cool, right?

5.) Gay this, that or the other. Bars, mannerisms, whatever. Yeah, because if a gay guy flirts with the wrong straight man he could get shot right in between the eyes, so it should come as no surprise that they make themselves known to one another. Heard of Matthew Shepard?

Ever have a guy come onto you? Didn't bother me, I just told the dude I'm not a homosexual and that was that. Experiences may vary. I wish more of the guys who had a huge problem with gay people would get flirted with by other guys, then they would know how it feels to be a woman who is not attracted to them when they come onto them too strong. It would be a useful lesson.

I don't think I should be banned for anything in this post because I'm just talking about other posts, not the posters themselves. If I do get banned, that's fine.

Meanwhile, forum management is discussing a change in rules to get back to a focus on Vegas and gambling.

Thank you.

That would be fine as long as you post your ignorant views two or thee times rather than two or three dozen times.

What do Nazis marching by torchlight have to do with this?

It's very easy to understand if you are a kind, compassionate, and tolerant person.

I'm having a tough time putting this down in the proper words so let me link to the eloquence of one of the kindest, most compassionate, and most tolerant people on Earth to give you a little lesson on German history.

Is it just me, or is most of this Trump-related? I do not remember near the problems pre-2016. Many of us disliked Obama, and still do. But we did not have half a dozen Obama threads. I don't really remember any at all. We did not have near the level of hate we see in the anti-Trump threads. When we did go OT on other things it did not get dragged in that "you say that because you love Obama!" We have had that on Trump too many times.

To the haters, and I say that for lack of a better word so please do not suspend over it, Trump is POTUS. You need to deal with the fact that you will have a POTUS you do not like. Same as many of us hated Obama. I still cannot stand him to the point I would not have a beer with him. (He can buy me one, real men do not turn down a free beer.) But beyond reading the news or peeking at the polls, it did not consume my life. I found his supporters misguided, but I accepted we had to share the Earth.

Trump haters here and elsewhere seem to let him consume their lives. More than a few international readers here let him consume their lives. That one I really do not get. Other than being glad for the Brexit vote or being happy BiBi was elected, I cannot think of many foreign elections I notice much less care about. The aforesaid two I barely notice, though I did get more involved the night of Brexit as I was in a room of mostly Europeans who were watching like hawks which pretty much meant I was watching with the hawks, but that is another story.

Trumpers joke that the haters need mental help. It is starting to not be a joke anymore, I wonder about some of what I see. All I can say to the haters is get on with your life. If what I see posted is the biggest worry some have then their life is pretty good.

You do not see straight pride parades because there are no anti-straight laws.

There are really no anti-gay laws anymore. Sodomy laws were struck down years ago. But the parades are not about legality, they are about "pride."

Quote:

I suppose women's equal rights marchers are calling attention to their sides because there are no equal rigths mens marches?

Straight males pretty much have every other parade to themselves.

Acting like an underdog when you are on top. Biggest joke of the 21st century

As I have pointed out many times, straight males are the only group that can be disparaged without a group of them marching on you. Straight males are required to do it on their own, no support groups exist. Nobody fights for you, and the media always assumes you are in the wrong.

That piece of sh*t (Trump) has made people way to comfortable to spew hatred and think that it is ok in everyday life.

Come on, PG! YOU spew hatred (calling someone a piece of sh-t) while complaining about others spewing hatred!

As for the possibility of eliminating open discussion of a political nature, I have said this before..... I was drawn to the site because of my interest in gambling/math, but I remain because I have found a bunch of guys who I enjoy bantering with. If this site limits itself to just the odds on the 83rd potential side bet for blackjack, the site will be of little value and little interest.
