Are most of the steak dinners and breakfast specials gone at casinos? I'm thinking the player's card has killed most offers. Because without player's cards, casinos had to lure people to their restaurants with cut-rate specials. Now they can attach the rewards to their non-gambling commerce to keep it active.

there is still the ellis island steak special. Not as good as it used to be but we do it. Actually we have been doing the breakfast steak special. I think it is 6.99 for steak and eggs.

The dinner one is 9.99 but you can get a $2 coupon to make it 7.99 with $5 coin in and a players card of course.

Old Henderson (Klondike, Skyline, Club fortune) have the $1.49-$4ish breakfast specials still. AZ Charlie’s might still have a cheap grisly steak and eggs special around the clock. Several places have a graveyard steak and eggs special for $5-$8 (south point, silverton, think boyd downtown, maybe Tuscany).

We still do this too. In fact, Saturday for dinner and yesterday for breakfast. The dinner sirloin is a better cut of meat than the breakfast strip steak, but I still consider both of them a pretty good deal. ( A couple of years ago, we saw Anthony Curtis there at breakfast. I think he said he was just keeping up on their quality for his newsletter ).

Interesting that Ellis Island has been doing upgrades over the past several years. The black concrete floor has been replaced by nice tile, there is a new casino lay-out. They still have $ 5 3/2 black-jack, but I didn't play so I'm not sure what all the rules are.

And it looks like they are getting closer to finishing the atrium .I'm not sure what that will be used for.

* We are getting promotional post cards at home for discounted room rates at their hotel, which is a Super 8. I haven't ever stayed there, and don't have any immediate plans to. But as CZR continues to gut their Diamond program, who knows what the future holds.

Boy, do I miss DuPar's downtown. They had a steak and eggs special, but the steak was USDA Prime.

We use the LV advisor for the 3 rounds of drinks for 2 and get their root beer and take it to the restaurant. Plus the other LVA coupons which basically pays for the dinner.
