Someone asked to make a thread to start planning and getting a list together. I figured I would take the lead. I can't edit this post but maybe BBB will edit it for me every once in awhile with the list of people. Next posts we can discuss what "events" there shall be. I believe last year the dinner was discussed in PMs or texts. Not sure if that is needed or wanted but we can. This will be my first time coming and I can not remember what type of things were done. I am up for pretty much anything for any amount of time.

The date will be May 11th 2019 and possibly May 12th if people are interested in getting together

If you are planning on attending please post in this thread. If you plan on coming but don't want to make it public maybe send me a PM and I will keep a tally so we know how many are needed for dinner reservations if they are needed.

List of people attending:

I’m 99% coming (haven’t booked a flight yet). My plan is to fly into Las Vegas on the 5th and then next morning head to California collecting casino chips for 3 days. I will arrive back in Las Vegas at some point on Thursday. I’m available to do things on Friday or Saturday any time but Sunday I fly out as I have a prior commitment that I have to attend.

Posting here to confirm that you have it correct: the wife and I will be there, arriving mid-day on Thursday 5/9 and departing mid-day on Tuesday 5/14.

As for rdw4potus, the first time I met him (8 years ago) I asked, "Who is rdw?"
Any of you who attend and don't know the answer to that, you can ask him yourself. And if he skips out, you can ask me.

I have every intention of participating the night of the dinner. I doubt that I will partake in other activities unless someone wants to take out a big life insurance policy on me for my wife and watch me die after about sixty steps on the hike.

You know there are some pushing just this as investments for a percentage of the death benefit.

Then they pool policies and sell shares to even out the volatility creating a (on paper) steady income return.

Note to GWAE. That's 20, plus I would guess 6-10 more to come. As a previous organizer, I would suggest you try to set up a party room or other restaurant reservation now, then we can finalize a head count with them about a week before or whatever they need.

As to dinner for Saturday night. Let's hear some suggestions? I think in the past it was burger places. I like the idea of something in that price range. Would prefer not to go to a high end place.

A lot of people are planning mob museum. Should we find a place in downtown? Strip? Or off strip?

I think we should keep the dinner location private as we did last year, discussed by PM.

I’m in for the mob museum, ideally on Saturday afternoon? I’m in for the escape room if it’s on Friday? Hike, sorry Mike but hell no lol. Poker run? Do you mean poker game after dinner on Saturday? If so then yes to that too!

Probably not. They are 40 or 50 dollars and you can only get 10 people or so. I think we had 7 which included wizard and some other forum regulars and we failed miserably. Did you say they are 10? Cant imagine a 10 year old figuring it out

There are no age restrictions for most. Other than under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Escape rooms seem to work best in groups of 5-8 people. There are alot of multi room escape facilities in Vegas. Sounds like DarkOx might have enough people in his group to get their own room. If not, it sounds like their could possibly be enough people for multi rooms anyhow.
Maybe they'll even have some multi-card puzzles.😀

True story - brought family to dinner at casino when my grandson was 6

Server asks if I wish to use my points on card

I reply no I dont have enough

My 6 year old replies, "But Grandpa, you have dozens of cards. Why dont you use one of the ones those people give you?"

I think my face turned redder than the strawberries on my plate. (Luckily the server didnt hear him. His voice was still low enough but the family heard him all too clearly)

EDIT: maybe I should delete this post. I dont want to be accused of hijacking. Maxpen just got me reminiscing

Dont comment directly anyone please

13 might be ok, definitely not the 8. I dont care how smart the 8 year old is there is no way they would be ok on an escape room. I do know there is a lot of frustration and a lot of cursing.

Sadly, I have concluded that I am a NO, I will be unable to attend the WOV Spring Fling this year.

I have an interesting excuse. I was successful at winning a part (as an actor) in a theater production that has shows scheduled for the March 11/12 weekend. So, I will be on stage! I hope someone will raise a glass to me at the dinner, even if you just mutter (or cuss me) under your breath. And, before I go on stage those nights, I'll wish you all good luck at the tables (or slots) .

they are really hard. The last one the very first clue was you had to look through something and see where there were moved items. LIke there was a missing item on a shelf. If it was in position 1 then in another part of the room the book on shelf one had to be pushed in. The thing is you dont know that the first part is a clue nor do you know what the clue is telling you. We found it after 15 min by an accident.

1. Yep, I'm RDW. I'm running for potus on a Canadian annexation platform. I really only want the coasts though. And Toronto, I guess. Definitely not Manitoba.

2. I'm a yes for the main event, mob museum, escape room, Friday night craps, Saturday night gambling. My wife is probably 70/30 against attending. She'd have to miss work at the same time she's fighting for a contract for next school year.

3. Kids say the darndest things. Lady in front of me and across the aisle on the plane today was watching a movie. Sex scene comes on. there's no content editing on west jet's films & it's graphic. Kid behind me says "look mommy! It's like you and daddy!"

4. We've.done pizza and burgers in the past. That seems to be the right price point. I think we only did it out of downtown once, when we met at Paris. Downtown worked a bit better, I think.

5. I thought last year's venue worked well, and we could have fit a few more people in that room.

I don't have kids, so I stayed away from opining on it, but I would think kids those 2 ages, if they're into playing with strange adults in a team, would be very useful. Between how they're learning to think, smaller size, probably better agility, and their familiarity with new data- or e-tools use should be in the team's resources.

I wonder if people who paid $50 to experience this will want to be in the same room locked in with WOV members from an opposing political party :)

My flight is booked, I get into Vegas on the 5th and stay for one night. On the 6th I grab my rental car and head for California. I will be back on Thursday at some point until Sunday.

Im also looking into a California side trip if i go.

Priced for vegas to LA were at $59. You sure you dont want to fly there and grab a rental in cali?

I’m going to California to collect casino chips from a bunch of places, it would defeat the purpose to fly into LA.

You dont tell someone who still believes in santa claus how the world of AP works.

You ever have children?

Obviously, I wasn't serious.

If you bring that rugrat, not only am I going to tell him Santa isn't real, I'm letting him/her in on the truth about the rest of the mythological characters you guys have been lying to him/her about, including grampus MFWSEAP fantasies (-;

It wasn't CASH that I donated. It was two $50 Amazon gift cards that I donated. :)

It goes both ways, my friend.

And they're still there for anyone who wants to read them. But this thread is for planning the meetup.

Considering how anal the mods are about banning for offensive language I am surprised the only reaction to a bunch of "your sisters anal loves...." which put some very objectionable images in my head gets its own thread.

So describing how other posters sisters get it up the anal is now officially pc here?

Im quite certain I have seen bans for less offensive imagery and if thread hijacking isnt here as well... hmmm!

Thread hijacking
Offensive imagery AND language
Personal insults

Results in your very own thread!?

You get banned for saying you beat your wife and you get your own personal thread for saying your sister likes getting pegged up the whazoo?

so anyways back to our regularly scheduled program. I made a post a few days ago asking for opinions on area to have meet and type of venue. Some people would like to keep it to PMs. I asked for PMs to talk about it and I have received ZERO PMs. We only have a little over 6 weeks to get everything planned so we should get to it.
