I was playing a Pharoh's fortune slot machine. 15 lines at 3 credits per line. When I got the bonus, the game actually had 20 lines during the bonus. In the "credits played" box it said 60 credits instead of the 45 that was actually bet. Do I have an advantage on this particular machine?? Can I be charged with any crime?

I guess you should play 1 line, max bet.
I'm guessing you would have an advantage if you got 20 lines, max bonus every time you went to the bonus round.
There's no crime you could be charged with, unless there was evidence you knew you were doing this.
If you hit a hand pay big jackpot, you probably wouldn't get paid.

What triggers the bonus? Sometimes a free spin bonus will always give the maximum lines, but is triggered based on some event on a specific pay line. So the odds of getting the bonus are proportional to the amount bet, making the return the same for any number of coins.

Was it this game? --
It looks like during normal mode you can only play 20 lines maximum, but during the free spins it uses 25 lines. See in the video where the Total Bet in the lower box is 100 credits (20 lines x 5 coins per line), and above it the [Free] Spin Bet shows 125 credits (25 lines x 5 coins per line). So perhaps if you played 15 lines and got 20, part of the bonus offering must be 5 more paylines than what you were playing when you triggered it.
Adding extra paylines for a free spins bonus is not a new concept, and being an IGT game, I'm sure it is intentional and that the game does not have a player advantage (also, you can play it without the fear of being charged with any sort of crime).
