Another positive in today’s financial environment for those who own a home or invest in Real Estate. I don’t care who you want to give credit to, it’s another good sign for those who work hard, make the sacrifices and choose to buy a home. And if you bought in the last few years when rates were at near record lowers, you win again.
We can debate Roseanne and about her all night, but the right discussion is that long term, buying real estate and investments in the stock market pay off for most people who have the time.
And if you want to succeed, it’s never been a better time to legally live in America.
Americans are winning.

I am seeing a lot of business going under
Small mom and pop stores some in business for decades here in my hometown of nyc
Big corporations as well
Toys r us goes under and you say its the best economic boom ever
Smh
Toy r us - 735 stores closing
Subway closing 500 stores
Best buy closing 200 stores
Abercrombie and fitch closing 60 stores
Footlocker closing 110
The list goes on
If this is the rights idea of a booming economy...

No business has an automatic right to make money. You either adapt or you go out of business. Should we list other long gone and sometimes forgotten businesses that didn’t adapt?
When was the last time you bought a set of encyclopedias?
Ate at Burger Chef?
Shopped at a Montgomery Ward?
Bought an Oldsmobile?
Times change and plenty of companies are making record profits. They must be doing something right.
Quote: AxelWolfI'm sure that has a lot to do with being able to shop online.
I would agree if business was booming online for these retailers simultaneously
Quite a few are facing bankrupty. Thats not indicative of a change to online sales which most of those retailers have
And again Subway is closing 500!!!! Who orders footlong subways on Amazon?
There are no sales right now enough to sustain major retailers
Bad long term decision but they made enough they probably didn’t care and knew this would eventually happen.
And having a kid F’er as their spokesperson didn’t help, even if they didn’t know. Which is subject to debate based on what you believe they did or didn’t hear and ignore.

NYC is an awful place to run a business, almost as if they hate private enterprise. How anyone stays open amazes me.

Replace them with In-N- Out, I have yet to have bad service there or see someone who looks unclean there. They are almost too friendly. The other day, I had my own can of soda in the car. The drive up guys notices and asks me if I would like a cup of ice for my soda. It took a second for it to sink in what he was asking and why since most places you have to beg for a cup of ice and they might begrudgingly give it to you.

Quote: rxwineAssuming for a moment the point of view of someone who might be in the lower economic class of Trump voters, one thing I notice is price of gas and food going up. People might notice the jobs, or they might notice prices going up at that tier. I was just looking at the chicken packages today, what was $4 is now $7. Of cpurse, maybe it's just where I live.
Chicken packages????
Best deal on chicken in the entire country
Costco rotisserie chicken.
4.99 for a whole chicken
I buy one for a couple dinners then make chicken salad.
Bargain.
Costco loses money on this. Millions a year
The price amazes me
I've seen chicken parts in grocery stores for more then 4.99
Its also a big chicken. 3 lbs cooked. Bigger then the more expensive grocery store rotisserie that weigh 2 to 2.5 lb
Quote: rxwineI figure Trump has a whole base of voters who aren't even in the stock market or other investments.. They're looking at costs.
Yep. Gas up average of 80 cents/gallon in 1 year, hamburger $5/lb or more, which is up 50%, fresh chicken prices double, eggs almost double. ..and fresh food is rotting in fields everywhere because no one is around to harvest it. Things are only just beginning to really suck. Tariffs haven't even set in yet.
But, oh yeah, I'm getting an extra $30/month in my retirement check. That'll make up for it. Oh, nope, my health care went up $27/month, and I'm lucky to have it. So $3 / month from the tax plan.
As I said before in a different thread, I have enough. I have few complaints. But the lies are starting to come home to roost.

Doesn't Costco also lose money on stamps too ( I think they look at stuff like this a loss leader ) -- seems about right, also, have to factor in that they do get a yearly membership fee
But, regardless of political affiliations or debates we've had hereon -- I agree wholeheartedly that the rotisserie chicken for $4.99 is an excellent deal and a delicious meal (I like to add on some BBQ sauce when I am reheating it)

And this is what the Dems/Libs don't get. Axel did not "take a poll", do any complicated research, submit his thoughts to a Chi Square test.... I think most Americans agree with him, even the ones that hate Trump. Even in Buffalo, I get that same feeling now. Is it because of Trump? Who knows? But things are better now than they were 1.5 years ago. Would they be even better if HRC was President? We will never know, but I bet most Americans don't think so.
By the way, I did my tax cut analysis. For the same income I will pay around $10,000 more in federal taxes thanks to the tax 'cut'. So that should make my Dem/Lib friends happy!

Some food prices always seem to have random (and crazy) fluctuations.
Eggs are the worst for this. I bought a 30 pack of eggs a couple weeks ago for almost $9. Literally the very next week they were under $5, for the same pack (which is what they normally cost).
Things like milk, cheese, butter, bread, and a lot of other staples have usually been pretty consistent over the years.
Meat, too... at least chicken. The fancy pants hipster grocery store near my house has had chicken for $2-$3/lb for years now.
Many fruits and vegetables are also pretty cheap and consistent in price -- the most common items are $1-$2/lb, and have been for years.
I'm just not seeing these crazy food prices that people always seem to be talking about. Maybe it is just dependent on where you live.

Apologies. I was on mobile and really didn't have the time to do extensive research to counter the claim that AZ said the stock market was "up quite a bit since October". I asked him how things were going since tax reform and he said it was still up. I spent a couple minutes on the numbers:
January 20th, 2017
DOW - 19,732
S&P - 2,263
Nasdaq - 5,540
October 2, 2017
DOW - 22,405
S&P - 2,519
Nasdaq - 6,495
December 22nd, 2017
DOW - 24,782
S&P - 2,684
Nasdaq - 6,965
May 29th, 2018
DOW - 24,361
S&P - 2,721
Nasdaq - 7,433
It appears to be a mixed bag of results, doesn't it? The first year was awesome but things have kinda slowed down since tax cuts. During the Obama years, Republicans ignored the stock market's performance, saying things that the president doesn't really have an affect on it. But if so, businesses have been reaping record profits for quite some time, LONG before DJT arrived. But yet, somehow, his message of America is a cesspool resonated with you all. Interesting.
But on another point, you have me a little twisted. See, I don't root for my country's failure because I don't like my president. I celebrate our successes and truly hope for peace in the Korean peninsula. And if you knew me at all, you'd know that I've been clamoring for huge infrastructure investments for 10 years. It would be interesting to see republicans all for it in 2018 when they fought for EIGHT YEARS to deny it in the Obama administration (deficits? Will the real conservatives stand up?). Putting party before country? Sounds borderline treasonous to me, in my opinion.

But that strategy, of saying America sucks when it didn't, seems to have paid off for the GOP.

He's been rich and powerful since birth. If you're not used to being told "no" or "screw you," when you finally become President out of nowhere and half the country hates you at any given time, it's a massive ego blow. Trump doesn't know how to handle that, hence the almost daily Twitter crybaby meltdowns.
We're just lucky Trump is all talk and politically weak on the global stage. Otherwise there could be REAL trouble.
