In this case, however, from the brief video that was posted here I believe the police were placed in a horrible situation where they had to make a split second decision.

What was the horrible situation they were placed in? Police have to determine if the guy who is complying with their orders, AFAICT, as best he can like police do every day 1000 times a day everywhere.

They reduce him to crawling begging and crying, and basically shoot him dead for what was probably no more of a reflex like brushing your hair out of your eyes or pulling your pants up. Of course, even though, he is probably cooperating better than many of the vids I've see where there is resistance, they are berating him almost constantly, probably making him more nervous and prone to a simple mistake, and now he's dead, and the police officer is acquitted.

Well that is the horrible situation, for the citizen.

I too am pretty pro cop in general. But I have a couple questions and I can't find a definitive answer. First, I was confused and thought they suppressed the video from the jury. Apparently that was not the case. Right? The jury DID watch the video, right?

Another question, apparently the cop's gun had an against-policy inscription on it that said "you're f**ked". If that is accurate, did the jury get to see THAT? I would think something like that would go toward cop's state of mind.

Go ahead and set me straight because I'm not sure of anything I just said. I'm just asking.

I believe the Jury saw the video, it just wasn't released to the general public until after the trial, which is what is getting people confused.

The Jury didn't see the gun inscription, the judge said it was prejudicial.

I see it differently. Cops can't take chances. How many times does this idiot victim need to be told what to do with his hands, and what will happen if he does not obey? Instead of whining like a little wussy, he should have concentrated on obeying the officer's reasonable commands. The cops were there because there was a report of a gun being brandished. The officer who fired rightfully was found not guilty. +1 for the good guys.

No more f-bombs, WMW. Warning. The one on the gun was pertinent, one time. I'm going to assume you're quoting that inscription with the bad rap. Be done with it. Your point is made.

On the other extreme of this story, I saw a youtube video later, probably some of you have seen it already, that was just as awful, maybe even more so, than the one we're talking about. A policeman pulled a guy over, and was so patient with the guy that it cost him his own life. The criminal kept taunting the policeman and would not follow any instructions at all. He grabbed a gun from his truck and eventually shot the policeman, and believe me it was horrible, complete audio of the policeman dying. From the video it is not clear as to why the policeman did not shoot the guy who was clearly a threat, it would have been entirely justified. Reading the comments below it said that this guy was put to death recently, I'm not sure of the date of the incident, for the murder of the officer. Apparently the video is now used as training for how not to handle a traffic stop. Both videos were very upsetting. People are just crazy. The world is crazy.

With a nation where its population is armed to the teeth, it is always a risky situation to get involved with law enforcement in this land, whether being pulled over in a traffic stop, being drunk and disorderly, or just misbehaving.

Getting drunk and firing off pellets will put you into a high risk situation. Did the victim deserve to die? No. But when you have a country full of people who can legally conceal and carry (or illegally, easily, for that matter) cops have to make decisions based on the information that they have, and cops have the right to make judgments, even bad ones, and get away with it because the benefit of any doubt is always with law enforcement.

I was pulled over for speeding my CHIPs the other day and I was thinking of how glad I was to be white, but I also knew to be fully compliant with slow movements and a lack of questions.

So, while I am disgusted by unjustified police killings, this gets piled on to the list of disgusts that I have around gun laws in this land, but I find that the solution, unfortunately, is not disarmament.

I'm a gun advocate and own several handguns like many do, but I see no reason for anyone to own assault rifles.

If a black person gets stopped these days they're now more likely than not, to be treated as extra-special citizens. Most cops are good people and they don't want to mistreat anyone, but they also want to go home after their shift. Absolutely disturbing video. No question. A tragedy, plain and simple.

But crystal clear that the cop executed him ?

NO.

If anything, I fault the police training. Certainly there was a better way to restrain this young man. There were multiple cops. He should have been able to be hand-cuffed safely and searched.

So, if you were a policeman responding to that call, you would have BET YOUR LIFE that he was not reaching for a gun ? The police already had reports that someone in that room had a gun, right ?

Yes, a tragedy, no question.

Respectfully, that's all baloney. This cop WANTED to execute someone. And since when do we call "murder" a "tragedy"?

If there was any question whether the kid was reaching for a gun, then why make him jump through all those hoops and crawl toward the cop? He had a chance to check for weapons, and cuff him, in the beginning, when he could have been laid flat out on the ground, arms out, hands exposed, etc. Got away with murder, plain and simple.

They must be a bunch of pussies since they were scared of a guy who was on his knees crying and begging for his life.

Take a look at some of his family photos.
https://www.facebook.com/JusticeForDaniel/photos/rpp.1709890655901266/1999939080229754/?type=3&theater

Not only pussies, but actual retarded/crazy people. I mean wtf, man? You are special forces, but you really can not assess a situation like that properly and you think it's all fine and dandy to put 5 or so bullets in THIS guy's head to control the situation? What is WRONG WITH YOU??

Sadly, I do believe that race has to do with this. We have ignored racial injustice for so long that now we accept injustice for all. It has become the norm. I am not black or hispanic. I believe that racial injustice has backfired on everyone.

I have personally witnessed alot of police corruption. My family are all college graduates with a clean record. Not even a misdemeanor.

My twin went to peace officer school. He gave discounts to the cops. He looked up to the cops and never would have taken drugs or associated with drug users. I wonder how many cops got a waiver for a criminal record.

my twin bro and sister and two neices were murdered by two different people on two different dates. The cops admitted that they knew it was murder but ruled it a suicide on day 1. My sister's husband confessed that his alibi was false with a stong motive. The employee that hung out with my twin disappeared after my twin died. The only conflict of interest that the cops had was that they didnt care.

I know people are going to dislike me probably on this forum too. I don't care what the consequences are anymore. I've got a death threat after I vistited the police dept. 20 years later inquiring for my twin's fotos. His inoperable 1980's truck the crime scene was stolen one week later. It hasnt been recovered for the last three years. I've been mugged five times. I am not scared to die. Its more scary to live.

One cop that I associated with changed my life forever. He was a bully. I don't believe that he could foresee the future effect that he would have on my life. He seemed remorseful the last time I saw him. But I believe that his intentions were not in the best interest of me.

I think its weird to have him cross his legs and crawl. If he fell he would have been shot too. It looks like a set up. I read to have them lay flat spread arms and legs with palms facing the sky

Is this a message: that the cops are a gang, they can kill who they want. YOu are not as imporatant as a cop. you are just a civilian.

If i told you 10-20 stories including 3 detectives in three different cities. And mention that its not uncommon for criminal records to goto police academy. Youd wonder the level of sociopaths in law enforcement. One det accused me of tax evasion in his office. ( he apologized). Because we had both employees handwritten and computer uploaded side. We had just went through an audit bc we over paid sales tax. And got a refund. Over those same paperwork. Another detective said my twin must be a drug dealer bc all the money he had in his bank acct saved from min wage he worked since he was 11. Another said my mom broke into the safe to claim insurance fraud. Cash theft insurance doesnt exist in usa. He wants my 77 yo mom to polygraph. I have alot more stories. Theyve been saying i broke in for 400 dollars to claim insurance that doesnt exist. My parents believed that the cops were all on our side. We never had a conflict of interest or argument with the cops. They tried to extort money. Thats another long story. My dad ran a restaurant for almost 60 yrs. after he was a waiter through college theyve been saying for 32 years that my dad is a drug dealer. Hes 85 now. I wonder why the cops never caught him. Because the cops are liars.

I have a lot of cops in my family. Had a lot of cop friends but at this point,95% of them have retired.
The problem I see is a severe lack of training. In NYC, you go to an academy for 26 weeks, then do almost as much time in field training before you can pretty much blow your nose without supervision.
Some jurisdictions have 6-10 week programs. I think most cops that get involved in stupid situations end up there for lack of proper training. There are some bad cops out there, obviously but I still give the police the benefit of the doubt.

Id hope they can learn in 10 weeks chl class takes two days. 2 weeks for ac certification

Well there were good leads and a mountain of forensics in my 4 sinlings cases. . So it boils down to character too. It was nothing like 48 hours. I never sat at a table to discuss the cases. The cops were too occupied. They told my parents over the phone. And didnt bother to wait ten minites before i could come home to hear about my twins case. So i dont have to be a cop to know what cops are like. I even told a cop that its not like 48 hrs and he agreed. The cops can take there propaganda shows and shove it. Ive heard three other friends cases destroyed by cops and other twinless twins cases destroyed by the police. My mom was rear ended and she got a ticket our insurance had to pay. The other lady was caught in a lie There was no parking exit. My mom didnt drive thru the grass. My dad was tboned and brain damage. They found the bumper of the other truck but failed to air on news. Two bullies i know became cops. Must be a coincidence

I posted my cases on facebook. I got three times more friends. Nothing but support. Except the media and cops are turning a blind eye. No one from local media contacted me even though my high school classmate was on the fone with an anchor.whose his aunt

i’ve been pulled over probably 15x in the past few years. Until recently I had gotten out of all of them just by being nice. One time the officer starts giving his speech about everything being recorded and I just threw my hands up and said ya got me. He kind of laughed. 77 in a 55 he let me go. I got a notice from my insurance that my rate was going up $290 because of one ticket over 10mph. So I have to slow down. I don’t drive that fast but I drive 300 miles a day a lot and it’s just a matter of statistics. Note this is all minor traffic stuff. Throw the book at drunk drivers, I have no sympathy for them.
