Quote: AyecarumbaMaybe the dip is due to end of the year tax incentives, and a need to be liquid to buy Christmas gifts?
No. Big investors have kept it propped
up around 6000 for months, they're
getting tired and getting out themselves.
They figured if they just kept it on life
support the public could be lured into
one last big rally to bail the big guys
out. It never happened.

Much cheaper and they will make great stocking stuffers.
Quote: DRichInteresting fact: As of today Bitcoin market cap is $59 billion, General Electric stock is down to under $7 giving it a market cap of $58 billion.
Are you saying BTC has a high or low market cap?
I think what knocked the pins out of BTC was the last year of raiders and thieves emptying accounts and wallets. The heart of a currency without a physical manifestation is its security and reliability.
Gotta be millions of squares like me watching it pretty closely, trying to decide whether to buy in, and reading all the stories about it being the preferred currency of drug dealers and scumbags, and then the guys who scored more than half a billion untraceable, and various other thefts. So we didn't invest, after all.
And for the price to keep going up, the demand for it has to be there, even with the cap or whatever the tap-out point for new bitstrings is called. If nobody trusts it will hold value and , why spend good dollars/yen/euros on something available to technogeeks whenever they want to take it?
Even though stocks are tanking atm, there is a historical growth curve, there are protections and regulations, and their currencies are backed by governments. BTC is just electrons that are worth what someone will pay in NOT-BTC value, whether in pizzas or Porsches.
How the majority answers that question tells you all you need to know.
Quote: RogerKintTrick question. Neither of those are money. Gold double eagles, if you please!
One day, one day.😁
Meanwhile the darkweb drug trade are the only people actually using bitcoin as a currency and couldn’t care less what it is worth day to day.
Well, yeah. Historically, 100% of fiat goes to zero. As long as one can still turn paper into metal that seems like a pretty great deal and an easy wager.
Quote: beachbumbabsSo we didn't invest, after all.
Never invest in a man made collectible.
Beanie Babies, Franklin Mint, collector
plates, bitcoin. Dead artist art, dinosaur
bones, antique cars, vintage jewelry,
rare books, those are good investments.
Never invest in something
they can make more of. Value totally
depends on availability.

Utter nonsense.

Then you should invest in bitcoin.

Care to explain?

They quit making it? Last I heard there
were still two places churning it out at
a profit.
Quote: MaxPenCare to explain?
Not really.

Kind of what I thought. It is hard to explain the real utter nonsense.

The cap is 21 million since the very beginning.
Quote: WizardTwo people, not counting me, voted that Bitcoin coin will crash in this thread. I also think that.
I too am bearish on bitcoin. I do not attempt long-term financial predictions but I follow the bitcoin futures market and the current trend is down. Bitcoin is easier than cash to lose or have stolen, also it has a taint of illegality about it. If you go on the Dark Web you can buy not only drugs and other illegal things but you also can contract for rape or murder and they always ask for payment in bitcoin. I think it possible that bitcoin will be made illegal. I plan to short bitcoin if it reaches the top of my channel.

You do realize the contract for murder stuff on there are all scams right? They're also used as police entrapments to catch the idiots that try to hire hitmen. Once the police gather their information, those guys get locked up.

How do you short bitcoin?
Quote: BlackjackLoverHow do you short bitcoin?
One way would be to sell short shares in a bitcoin fund, but I don't think such a fund currently exists in the USA.
Here is something I found about a fund in Canada:
First Block Capital Inc., a Canadian cryptocurrency and blockchain investment company, has announced that its bitcoin trust, FBC Bitcoin Trust, has achieved mutual fund status in Canada, allowing investors to place funds in registered accounts such as a Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA) or Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP).
The trust is available on NEO Connect, a fund distribution platform, under the ticker FBCBT, and is available to accredited investors only. Advisors can trade the fund with the same efficiency and ease as trading ETFs.
The way I would do it is to sell bitcoin futures contracts, which are traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. To do this you need a futures trading account and you must study the mechanics of futures trading. A futures contract is a contract to buy or sell something on a future date, generally up to a year, at a specific price. If you buy and it goes up you can sell at a profit, likewise if you sell and it goes down. There are futures contracts in grains, livestock, metals, oil and gas, and even the stock market. Google "bitcoin futures" to learn more.
BUY NOW !!!!!!

$19.6k
Quote: jackmagic777Bitcoin = 6 BILLION WIPED OUT/ Bitcoin drops to $3,350 Ethereum down 7% today. From $112 to $104.
BUY NOW !!!!!!
Never buy into ponzies. Early adopters are to profit from late adopters by design in the bitcoin project. That's the definition of a ponzi, being it decentralized or not. Value/money can not be created out of thin air.
Imagine if you were an early buyer and had set $20K as your sell point.Quote: gamerfreak$19.6k
I had the opposite situation last week with Tesla. Had a buy order for $300 and twice it went below $301 without breaking $300. It finally did after a week of trying.
Quote: billryanImagine if you were an early buyer and had set $20K as your sell point.
You would still have a lot of profit. Several years ago the price was about $100 per BTC. Or if you bought bitcoins in 2011, the price was about $1.
Quote: billryanImagine if you were an early buyer and had set $20K as your sell point.
Imagine if you were a pan. Your bum would've been always warm, your belly would've been always greasy, and everyone would've been grabbing you by the handle.
the exchange was handling about $180 million and one guy has a claim for $70 million
I was admittedly a fool to play with this stuff and I will never again be tempted by anything similar
I had gone since 1999 and the tech boom since yielding to temptation
fortunately I got in with only a very small amount

Quote: jackmagic777Does the word PONZI ring a bell ?????
Some people like the US Dollar ponzi, others like BC. Gentlemen prefer silver and platinum.
Quote: billryanI have a standing buy order on Tesla at 290. It kicked in a few weeks ago. Have a sell order at $325. Stock broke $322 twice yesterday. Missed it by that much. I'd been hoping to pay my February rent with the proceeds. Guess it will be March now.
Just pray Elon doesn't have a public meltdown or go through a breakup.
Quote: djatcI'm still buying more BTC don't @ me
When Macys has a 50% off sale, everyone flocks to shop. Why not buy BC when its so heavily discounted? $50 now might make you a brazilian later.

wtf lol
There have been a few times with insta crashes around 7-8pm(in my short sample of inconsistent observation), give or take, I'd be interested in if these kinds of things have some rhyme or reason.
I've been accumulating and hodling since 2010 or so.
