Geez louise, every day it seems Sam's Town is downgrading something decent that has been there for like a gazzillion years. What are they thinking? Many of the pre-downgrades or removals MUST have made money for them. Now how much do they make when no one plays? I don't understand their game plan. Who do they think they are? Harrah's? They're a locals joint, it's supposed to be different. I have always loved Sam's Town. They're breaking my heart.

On another note, I haven't posted for about a month. Geez, you guys are still talking about the elections? I slept through it. Who won anyway?

And on even another note, I see Joe Slothnik, or whatever, got bailed out or pardoned or paroled or something, but his name is normal color right now. I'm glad he's out. Did anyone throw a party for him when he got released? Seems like the right thing to do. Especially since he's done so much time.

Anyway, hate to see what's happening to Sam's and/or Boyd. Did they get taken over by a bunch of bean counters? Or was that a long time ago and I must have missed that article.

Maybe they're finding that buying Aliante may not be as profitable as they expected. Even with the sale of Borgata, they are still taking their time converting Aliante to full Boyd status. Heck, even Stations finished the Palms conversion by Nov. 1.

So which Sam's Town are you talking about and what are they downgrading?

ST - Las Vegas

Off the top of my head, a few months ago they downgraded dollar progressives at two bars, 9-6 JoB went to 8-5, and 8-5 BP went to 7-5.

A week or so ago, ten machine bank with 9-6 DDB for quarters, prog, that had been there forever, downgraded, probably to 9-5, not sure.

I think all the 9-6 JoB has been removed from any and all bars. There remains a handful of 9-6 JoB in the whole joint. I can see the writing on the wall for those.

What really kills me is all the 9-7 DB progressives at two bars just got downgraded, I assume to 9-6-5. And the casino had to make money off those, when the jackpot was high you could not get a seat.

So what's their next move? And what will they do with Cannery when they take that over? Will they torch those too? I just don't understand the motive. Someone told me it's like a morgue in there now. They massacred Sun Coast over a year ago. Will they move on to Gold Coast and Orleans next? Best game will be 8-5 BP.

I'm not bad-mouthing them, I just think they're making a big mistake.

Turning their current properties into morgues will probably not help their bottom line. Don't torch the place, put MORE good games in there. I know I'm on the outside looking in, but that's where I'll stay if they keep up this trend. Sad, I love Boyd properties.

It's obvious that Sam's and others got crushed for a few years with the young at heart promotion. I figure they are upset and taking it out on all ap vp plays! Is it a smart move? That depends on who you ask. If you ask a player like me... I say it's a bad move. If you ask the slots manager on day shift... He says it should of been done years ago!

I think you must be right, that young at heart promo must have killed them. I had friends who were always getting 30X and 15X and they were hammering them. I think they've toned that down now. I'd be happy with occasional moderate multipliers and good games. It's a balance, you don't want to put them out of business or we don't have a place to play, but geez, it was their idea in the first place. Don't give away the store, just maintain a happy medium. I hope they come to their senses someday, probably unlikely, but if the place is a morgue they need to do something.
