I live in northern NJ. Friends are keeping me updated on the snow. About two feet at my house.

I came to Disney World on Monday, and was at the airport Friday to return home, when United cancelled the flight. I hope to get home Tuesday.

The topic of discussion between my wife and me has been, getting stuck here has gotta be cheaper than Vegas. I'm not so sure.

What do you think?

It's much cheaper here unless you're talking comps. Should I come get you guys?

Naw...there's lots more to do there than at my house. Go to SeaWorld, meet the penguins and polar bears (also the otters and seals are fun, not to mention the dolphins, whales, and stingray pools). There are a dozen fun dinner theaters. Car rentals are cheap; drive out to Kennedy for the day Monday, then get on the Victory Casino boat for Monday night.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

I definitely would not want to be stuck IN disney. We forgot to bring drinks last week and ended up spending $60 on water, pop, and milk. Being stuck in orlando wouldn't be all bad.

If you've got a pretty big stack of unused 'offers', Vegas might be better. Just do the math.
Hope you make it home by Tues, and find you still have one.
Doesn't sound very pretty up there.

Orlando has 10x the free or cheap things to do that Vegas does. And there are huge coupons everywhere for the more expensive attractions. Plus the beach and nice weather. Food is much much cheaper here as well.

Fair enough, but where can you fly for a beach vacation and be on the beach in 45 minutes? I can't think of many. Maybe Miami or Ft. Lauderdale.

I just bought over three days worth of food for under $40. At so many of the major hotels you can buy two meals for around $10. No matter how nice the beach is, the time and cash spent on transportation is definitely a cost.

Again, no matter where you are the cost will be the same and will come down to whatever your values are. If someone likes spending money, they can spend a lot at either place. If someone doesn't want to spend much money, they can do so and be fine at either place. And whether it's a good time or a bad time being stuck anywhere will always come down to what you make of it.

I would not want to be stuck in Orlando, having been to the town a couple of times, it struck me as a giant meth lab with some really cool theme parks. As far as the snow in NJ, the bulk of that snow will be gone within a few days, as I believe you are schedule to have a few days around 40 degrees coming up, but I would prefer being stranded in Vegas because odds are, the reason for the stranding would probably be from outside the city rather than inside it.

Orlando is definitely the number 2 value destination for tourists. Avoid gambling in Vegas, and Disney in Orlando, and you will do quite well.

Number 3: Maybe Myrtle Beach, South Carolina?

Ha ha. You DON'T want to be stuck in Vegas. Vegas is only fun is when you want to be there. If not it is a real dread. As for Orlando you will be bored silly. Once you see and do all things you want to being stuck in Orlando is slow torture. If you want to be stuck you are better off being in some metropolitan city with easy accessible transportation that is not dependent on just one attraction alone. Added plus if there are good number of places to eat. Or you are better just being stuck at home.

You can stay DT for $38 a night and spend $15

If you are a foodie Vegas is AWESOME. Back in Feb. 2010 when I was still residing in NYC and traveled to Vegas, a three day trip turned to an nine day get away because of the constant weekly snowstorms. The fourth to sixth day was a real kicker and quite fun restaurant hopping but even by the evening of the fifth day reality started to hit. By the seventh to ninth day I got bored of eating out and actually stayed in and cook since I was staying at the Vdara where there was a fully furnished kitchen. Definitely don't hate being stuck in Vegas but the amusing aspects started to fade real fast! Luckily back then there weren't any daily resort fees.

I voted for Vegas. If it were "Orlando" instead of "Disney," I may have considered it. As stated before, Disney is expensive, and while I could find free activities that will hold my interest, the hotels and food will take a nice bite out of my wallet.

Now, if I had a car and was 'stuck' in Orlando, I could find some decent hotels for under $50, cheap food, and take a tour of all the mini-golf courses set on a 'mountain' with Ty-D-Bowl blue waterfalls that the area has to offer (there are several, actually)!

If by interesting beaches you mean nude beaches, Orient Beach in St Martin may be for you. I stay at Orient Bay every year but I have not yet got up the nerve to go over to the nudist area. The beach and area are wonderful but the nude area is just one small part on the very southern part of the beach. If you are interested Google Club Orient in St Martin.

You tempted me, I 'safari'd', scanned images briefly. Nice looking beach. Didn't try videos, only got so many hours in the day to stare at boobs and butts on the screen. You can't touch them, if you try it's just a cold hard glass screen....;-)

Canaveral AFB is awesome. Driving that long smooth stretch of highway towards the Cape knowing that the astronauts also traveled through the same path was quite memorable. It would be awesome though when I visited which was 14 years ago it was on a day of a shuttle launch. You never know how massive the complexes are until you see them in person.
