Question on VP...are each of the game variants separate and independent?

Take a single machine, If a Royal was hit on say DDB $25 coin, does that mean one could be hit on DB or BP same machine quickly afterwards or would it still need to be around the next 48000 hands?

Does denomination matter as well?

Talking vegas, not the pow pow joints thanks

Odds are exactly the same - once one is hit it is the exact same probability I matter which game variant you go to unless of course you are speaking of a wild royal or something

Another way to look at it.... it's a re-shuffled full deck each time you play. So the probability is the same at the start of each hand.. the machine has no memory of past hands.

Why would you think it'd have to cycle through 48k hands to hit another Royal? Odds are the same every hand.

Why would you think it'd have to cycle through 48k hands to hit another Royal? Odds are the same every hand.

Perhaps something else for people who believe the machines have an exact 48k hand cycle to think about. Years ago I had a neighbor who was a slot tech. He actually believed that's how it worked. I argued with him but he was adamant.

I explained if true he could make millions.

Because If this were true you could just get a team together. The team would go a busy casino and take turns watching the most popular high limit VP machines. Simply count all the ploppy hands being played(estimating would be just fine). Whenever it got close to 48k hands the team member would jump on it. But why wait for Royals? Why not jump on when 4 aces are coming, or any hand that pays more than the bet?

If this worked and the denominations were all set to the same cycle, 2 people could just lock up a multi denomination machine crank out 47,999 hands at one coin on the lowest denomination then switch to highest denomination offered and pop a big RF at a very very little cost every few days. You wouldn't have any problem making a couple million a year.

Older slot machines had visible coin in coin out meters, if machines were set on exact cycles one could figure out the jackpot cycles and crush all the slots.

OP, Think about VP and the fact some VP machines have had individual RF progressive meters. If they were set to a 48k hand cycle how could they get so high in such a short period of time? You could say everyone was short coining and someone hit the RF with less than maximum coins bet. Perhaps, however there's been tons of occasions where a team has locked up a progressive VP machine and it went more than 100k hands without hitting a RF.

Thanks for the clarification guys, make a lot more sense. I guess I had bought into the old gamblers fallacy. I recently saw a RF on a machine I play a lot, so everyone including myself were avoiding it like the plague after we saw the payout (6 figures).

Do those 6 figures include the two after the decimal point?

That just makes my adrenaline go crazy - just thinking about it. It's so beyond my budget to play $125 a hand...but it'd be a darn hoot to hit a quad or better!

Perhaps it's a hot machine. I have hit 2 royals on the same machine within 100 hand I have played with others who have as well.

Some places allow employees to play. Back when .25 VP Royals were a all hand pays a coffee shop waitress who played every day after work hit a Royal. When they came to pay her and reset it they opened up the machine grabbed 5 coins from the hopper and inserted them for her(that was customary back then at a few locations). Sure enough she got another RF. I still remember her name.

Great story Axel. Brings to mind Richard Brodie's blog where he told the story how he hit two $250K royals on a 3 coin full pay DW machine at Caesars in the 90s. The execs took it down shortly after.
