Quote: HowManyWhen is Obama going to lecture us that automobiles must be banned nationwide?
The first I heard about the incident was in a satirical NevadaCarry.org blog shared on Facebook this morning. "In light of Sunday nights tragic incident on the Strip, President Obama is set to announce common sense car control measures." "Local Nevada group, Nevadans For Car Safety, are calling for institution of 'car free zones' on sidewalks." I assumed the entire story was made up.

When I saw news articles, some "related links" to questionable websites indicate that the driver is Islamic and shouted Allah Akbar! while running down the pedestrians.

Not the first time someone has wanted me tarred and feathered. Probably not the last. :-)

I was wondering the same thing. Thee must be some mental illness at work here. I hope that is not the case though. I hate the mental illness defense. Not fair that a crazy person gets sent to nut house instead of prison. I think they should put the crazies in prison as well.
Something like 60% of people in prison have some kind of mental health issue, so the people you get locked up with are the craziest of the crazy.
Quote: RigondeauxI've seen a couple TV shows documenting the places the criminals deemed to be insane go, like Atascadero, in CA. It's not exactly a holiday. If you are ill, it seems better because they try to treat you. Also, looks to be less inmate on inmate violence. But the living conditions aren't any better and you are surrounded by insane people all the time.

I will have to admit that I am ignorant when it comes to what happens with the mentally ill. I think what I have to go by is how it is portrayed on TV and in Movies which obviously is true. ;-)
You would give in and lick the caramel off them.Quote: GWAEI also wondered why someone would use tar. I personally would use caramel and then put them outside near sea gulls.

Plausible deniability. You sound like a politician.

Perhaps there is a lawyer up in Canada who will take your case pro bono.

Here's how I see it, based on the little bit I've read.
She came from a truly dysfunctional background.
Went to alternative school: that's where she peaked: with an institutional support group she "fired on all cylinders" for awhile.
Then she met a man and had a child.
Maternal responsibilities torpedoed her dream.
Without a good upbringing and support of a loved one she lacked the tools necessary for her to succeed in life.
Boy friend and she split up: it is reported she was enroute to Texas, hoping to find him.
Broke, attempting to sleep in her car, at the end of her rope.
Obviously she was overwhelmed by life.

Poor "bet selection" at roulette ;-)

Wow. That may be extremely close. I've seen many similar stories like this (minus killing people with a car) because I grew up in the inner city. You make a great point that having a good upbringing is very important. Family is a good support system. Without it, you are at a disadvantage.
Wow. What a grim, but probably accurate, account you describe. Sad.Quote: MrVHere's how I see it, based on the little bit I've read...
Lakeisha Holloway legally changed her name two months ago to "Paris Paradise."
Two months later she intentionally ran over pedestrians on the sidewalk in front of "Paris" casino, which is located in a section of unincorporated Clark county known as "Paradise."
Coincidence?

Ummm what? That is crazy. Hopefully that leads to premeditated murder and no crazy defense.

There is nothing remotely "alternative" about Portland's Madison High School. Isn't now & never was. It is an ordinary public high school on the east side of Portland, which happens to be located between a golf course and a large park. Glancing at Zillow, the homes in that neighborhood are currently going for between $250,000 to a bit over $500,000 or so. POIC has been around to fulfill their purpose of milking a variety of federal grants for a very long time, and is quite familiar to most people living in Portland, and not in a good way, if they pay any attention to the community they live in at all.Quote: POIC
Lakeisha Holloway, a graduate of Madison High School in Portland, OR, participated in our employment and training program.

That's creepy, but wouldn't be surprised. I can haz link?
I connected the dots, based on mainstream media coverage.
BTW, I've no sympathy for Paris Paradise Morton.
Sources say she told police "I am in pain, and I want others to feel my pain also."

Nevada has the death penalty: at the moment she is executed, I want her to feel their pain also.
