consoled by the comps program. Just like

they've accomplished something. When in
actuality, well, you know..
Quote: djatcPlaying for a new tier is not worth the -ev. If you happen to get there while gambling then its fine. Ask my platinum card at mgm, it doesnt do anything for me except cut in lines. Hardly worth the losses.
Yep, pretty much exactly my thoughts. Our machine play at Stations easily generates significantly into the Presidents cycle on both our cards. Neither my partner, nor I have ever hit Chairman. It wouldn't take too much more play, especially if we concentrated some play on one card to hit Chairman, but that extra play just isn't going to translate into much better offers, so it is just not worth it.
The big benefit is cutting the line at the restaurants. The Chairman line is a little faster than President's line, because most places have lumped handicapped in with the Presidents line and many people abuse that handicap status. That is about the only reason, I would like Chairman, but I can live with President and jumping in front of most people in line, but occasionally having to wait in line for a couple minutes at the busiest times, while some pretend handicapped person gets seated....ok, yeah...I am a little cranky about that. Lol.
I got a 3 night offer at the luxor once after extensive play, but the resort fee was not waived and it came with $10(!!!!) in freeplay. I am guessing its because my adt is extremely low due to checking in, grabbing freeplay and checking out.
And here I thought you were for not judging people without all the facts. Honestly, how do you know what conditions they may or may not have, how do you know they are fakes? Seen them at the BB courts after lifting weighs at the gym?Quote: kewljYep, pretty much exactly my thoughts. Damn! And I thought I had it good. Did I miss a blog of yours?Quote: teddysWow, that's a long time. You are going to have to try harder to beat my 75 days of room comps, though ;)
Quote: HotBlondeSo as an update I've been here 18 days now and not only did I reach platinum level a few days ago through the MGM properties but just this morning I checked and I reached diamond level with Caesar's/Harrah's! Woo Hoo! I gotta look at the list of benefits, but I like that diamond members have our own lounge to hang out in and private reception area.
I hit low level Diamond after 2 day's BJ play. Think I went gold to platinum after one day, then platinum to Diamond (low level) the next. Was kinda hard to keep up as the email were tripping over each other ;-) I will not make seven stars, cost me to much to make Diamond. Yeah it was just a bad run, variance got me, karma wasn't working with me......... Wife is looking at me with that 'I'll kill you in your sleep if necessary" look. And she might be serious.....

Quote: WizardI'm at the lowest level of every player card in Vegas except maybe the Boyd casinos, where I'm second lowest. It doesn't bother me at all. When the casinos started with the tier systems I admit that I was rather level greedy but learned quickly that it really didn't matter much. The best perk is the line cutting privileges. Comps have little to do with your tier.
I feel the same way. I was pretty into being the highest tier but over time the novelty fades away. I rather make $x then get comped $x. Line cutting is something I've become accustomed to, because some buffets are ridicuiously busy like the baccanal at Caesers.
I just used my diamond card to get right into the Caesar's Bacchanal Buffet. I have to say, I've eaten at Bellagio's buffet several times but this one tops the cake! Great stuff! And attractive too. I don't think I tried anything yet that I didn't like.
After this I'm heading back to the pool here (I'm staying at Caesar's now) and gonna play swim up blackjack. Terrible rules though!!! 8 deck shoe, only double on 11 and 12, no surrender, no double after splitting, blackjack pays 6:5. Am I missing anything? Basically the worst rules you can find. But I guess they're charging for their entertainment value. By using the Wizard's house edge calculator it raises the house edge on this game to "basic strategy with cut card = 2.34059%". That's just over 8 times the amount of the 0.28507% shoes I've been playing on!!! Oh well, I'm willing to take the risk to have some fun. I've never played at a swim-up table before!!
Agree!Quote: HotBlondeonly double on 11 and 12 ... Basically the worst rules you can find.
But that's just me, tee hee
Quote: IbeatyouracesThat's the Pussycat Dolls pit. And it's double 10 and 11 only and no das.
Damn, and I wanted them all doubled, twined etc. Big ETC....
yeah, I noticed there was different levels to the diamond ranking. Does it really mean anything? Or do they just throw that in to give you something to aim for for just a personal aspiration?Quote: TwoFeathersATLI hit low level Diamond after 2 day's BJ play. Sadly, when I walked through this pit last night, there wasn't an open seat!! Tourists just have no clue.
Quote: ahiromuThat pit is no longer officially sponsored right? It's just a generic breastino or whatever we want to call it.
I'm surprised Caesar's hasn't tried "bj pays 5:6" yet.

I'm guessing club kids => not highly correlated with people who care about blackjack rules.
Quote: IbeatyouracesThat's the Pussycat Dolls pit. And it's double 10 and 11 only and no das.
I read this on bill zenders casinology that he advocates more choices on how to play blackjack then less, since most people make less then optimal doubles (10 vs 10, 9 vs 2, 7, 8) and surrenders.
6:5 seems inevitable but i think the tables can make more money offering more ways for drunk club goers to make mistakes. Also deeper pen, but thats probably something thats been debated a long time here. More options = goodwill which will be a curse in disguise.

Or money in general.
Quote: HotBlondeGonna go see the Titanic and Bodies exhibits today. Anybody see them?
Seen 'bodies' twice. Once as an official chaperone for 5th grade school class. Had to go to gov't office, fingerprint and run background check (took a couple weeks) to volunteer to 'help' on my 5th grade kid's field trip. Funny thing was, 'they cleared me'.......;-)
Trip was a goat sexual encounter, too many kids-too small a space-not enough 'officially gov't certified chaperones', had a couple kid's passing out on the floor from ( crowding, lack of oxygen, whatever).
Anyway, I wanted to see more, understand more, at my leisure as opposed being interupted by having to carrying kids outside into 'air', so I went back w/wife and 2 sons.
Extraordinary exhibit, I may pay for a 3rd visit and go alone. I recommend at least a visit to anyone and everyone.
Titanic was to replace the exhibit soon, Titanic would be interesting. Bodies was significant.

Doesn't look like it. And good move to get rid of that terribly dated "Pussycat Dolls" reference. When was their last hit...2008?
The Double 10, 11 thing is just funny. "Our place is so great, we might as well fleece them for another 0.18%!" They were the first CET property to downgrade the VP bartops this year too I believe.

The full rules are:
8 decks
Blackjack pays 6:5
Dealer hits soft 17
Double 10/11 only
No double after split
No re-split aces (I could be wrong on this one)
Not sure if surrender is allowed or not
Possibly the worst normal bj table game in the world that doesn't require an ante.

Thanks for the clarification. All I had to do was read the felt and that alone was enough to make me want to commit suicide instead of playing that game!
This will be my last night in Vegas. I was going to leave this morning but decided to stay one extra day. The host at the Mirage where I'm currently staying said cause of my play I had a ton of room for comps. I decided then to stay one more night, go to Joël Robuchon for dinner at MGM Grand and take a limo there, all which will be comped. Not bad as Joël Robuchon is a really pricey place!

Wow, well on your way to a MONTH! lol... Do you mind sharing your trip results? I assume you play other games than BJ to get such high comp values? Slots, VP, carnival games? Basically, how do you get such high comps =P.
Quote: HotBlondeShoot. I was supposed to check out today but I decided to stay one more day. Lol!
Leave 'mañana'.
That doesn't necessarily mean tomorrow, just means NOT TODAY.
I.E. that worthless contractor you're waiting on says he'll get it it done 'mañana'.
I think you should shoot for a month.....

I think we all know how comps are attained. That would be an interesting win/loss statement.
Quote: 1BBI think we all know how comps are attained. That would be an interesting win/loss statement.
I thought comps were based, sort of, on 'cash put in play', or 'coin in'.
Do losers get better comps than winners?
I've been meaning to 'search' thru some old threads on the subject.
I'm getting a lot of 'free cash' ( not free play ) offers,
As high as $500 /day, and some of them overlap, some are duplicates.
Does that make me a sucker?

More cash in, more loss, more comps. I don't expect her to tell us how much she lost. I wouldn't either. Does anyone want to take a guess based on the comps we've read about? If she had a big hit or a big day we probably would have heard about it.

I also believe this is a very special case.
That doesn't mean anyone deserves an answer ;-)

No guesses but I did watch her and Teddys play DD and 6 deck shoe blackjack at Mirage. Not going to say what she was betting.
BTW, they now deal that DD game from a small shoe, still face up.

Depends on the casino. Some factor in actual loss as well. One thing is for sure...winners never get better comps.
From what I'm assuming they're comping me based on how much I'm betting.
By the way, anyone care to guess how much my bill at Joël Robuchon was last night? No cheating. I'll give you this much: I had a several course meal with wine pairing. Whoever guesses closes to the total with tax and 20% tip wins. I'm still assuming they're comping it!! (Minus the tip, of course)

I never asked for her weight just the change in it over the past 30 days
