Quote: RSIsn't having multiple accounts at the same time nuke-worthy? Plus, I thought it was obvious (or semi-obvious) that seriouslyfunny was B79 or some other troll.
It is. And the evidence leaned toward him being a dupe. But we like to be certain, you know? We've had members be wrongfully banned before, and it's not pretty. And one day it may be you or a poster you enjoy under scrutiny, and I'm sure you would appreciate the patience. So we wait.

Potentially they could ask a new member to refrain from posting or else . That would require a mod to now do extra work.
It's not so much "the work". I mean, we're not that lazy =)
Nearly every single new member who makes a mistake is gently corrected by all of us. It's no problem, and easy to do. But as I said previously, I too thought something was up. Since I was unwilling to ban on an assumption, as I just told RS, and didn't want just a 3 day cool down that a minor breach would give, I let him run free. So instead of letting him have one day of disruption and having him come back tomorrow off suspension, he got two days of disruption and is now gone permanently.

Sorry you read it that way Ace, that was not my intent. I think I will just end this sidebar.
I have no ill will for AoS and I enjoy reading the trip reports. I was not trying to start a brush fire here, but this forum has really gotten to the point every word written is scrutinized for hidden meanings and other nonsense.
I hereby offer my public apology to AoS for having 'apparently' unintentionally cast aspersions on his character.
sorry for multiple edits. Poxting is hard to do from a phone.
He wanted to know if I was mad. He kind of caught me off guard when calling as I was eating lunch at the time.
He was never in Vegas, called from Chicago. He has no intentions of fulfilling the wager. He definitely doesn't seem like a high limit player. He wanted to make it right for my loss when he is supposedly coming in July. He seemed kind of normal on the phone at first.
However, when I had a chance to think about his 20 minute ramble after hanging up, he might have mental issues. The details of the rambling will go unsaid unless bits and pieces help to fulfill inquiries by other board members.
I have no intentions of having any kind of meetup with him in the future. For the record, I could care less about the wager.
Sorry, I called a troll a troll, will try to refrain from doing so in the future.

I read whale hunt in the deset, and the author found hosts can tell the company the gambler keeps by his bet sizing.

Quote: MaxPenI was contacted by B79. In my opinion Axel has this guy figured to a Tee. I had never talked with him before, however, he had my cell which I had sent via email.

I have,l. isn't it obvious from my post?
I only had the one verbal contact, mostly listened, when he called.
Also, whoever Barbara is should cut off any contact. I was trying to figure out who that person was.
I just hope BBB does the same thing, however apparently this guy may be charming to some people.Quote: rainmanIf it were me I would cut all contact with this guy immediately.
He probably has a believable sob story and he's playing the victim. She has been kind of defending him along the way.
IMMEDIATELY after his "he died in my arms" story was debunked, we should've tared and feathered him.

Yes it was obvious, I missed it somehow maybe my reading comprehension is declining but for now I'm
blaming it on alcohol. :)

I hope she's careful this guy was full of s#@* from the start and if you find Max credible which I do this guy might be
a little creepy.

Max is an intelligent good guy. He has been upfront and reliable. No BS stories, bragging or anything abnormal.Quote: rainmanI hope she's careful this guy was full of s#@* from the start and if you find Max credible which I do this guy might be

I'm very certain what he said was true.
I'm glad this B79's true colors came to light.

And sorry I didn't see you guys at SLS. RS pm'ed me about 10 minutes too late as we ran off to m resort for a late dinner. :( At least I snuck in a Firestone walker union jack ipa while there.

Yep a 'mess'. But the mess seems to have been resolved for now. Maybe a good time to send my thanks to the man behind the curtain, and the Mods, and I would like to include those many of the blues that help this thing police itself. Quite an accomplishment for all involved. I just hang here occasionally for jhits and grins, but the whole house (in it's entirety) is pretty Fing amazing.
Carry on...
This went pretty much how I thought it would.
Sucks for everyone that got caught up in it.
Truth be told, I think some here miss him and his delusions. Some may even think that he added value to this site.

You'll get no argument from me that he was a different type of guy. He definitely had a lot to say. In the beginning he was very easy going and approachable. I was entertained by him. I just feel bad for whoever lost money because of what happened. But everyone knew the possibilities. That's gambling I guess. You can't really say him not showing up wasn't a possibility, especially when you're betting on that person actually showing up.
Max seem like a cool guy though.
