Quote: KerkebetNot unexpected, as this article points out, at http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/Becoming-a-professional-gambler.html . It's rare to hear "the rest of the story", however. The last place you're ever going to hear it is over the internet. Eg, poker players are quick to point out their yearly winnings, but not their losses and simple expenses; and there is, I would expect, a lot of collusion among the regulars. People cheat at $30 Eucher tournaments. I wonder that there aren't more big winners, by luck then, who unwittingly go on to attribute it to being an AP. As Matusow more or less exclaimed, "You have to put something away, because every great player will eventually go broke again at the tables." (Actually, you have to find the occasional big game of rich drunks or suckers, and wait for the "nuts". Have fun doing that, they are out there, but so are a lot of others looking to fleece them.)
And, the only real AP's are the ones creating their own new plays and hyping that in the player literature - or casino-countermeasures seminars - conspicuously and forever outing themselves. The remainder few seem to be trying to buy themselves very expensive coffins. It's not the lack of AP's out there, it's that the casinos should be filled to the rafters with such were it all so enjoyably easy, and risk free overall. Where there anything remotely significant about such, business schools would pop up, instead of a handful of such authors, and random persons online over the years. It just never stands up to any actual scrutiny. Sure, a few rules and devices were changed in some of the gambles, but that says more for how easy it was to skirt any profitable AP methods than for what the AP's did to the world. Meaningless gambles to boot. Nonsense.
Should be a Gamblers' Anonymous for AP's as well. Perhaps, more so than for the people who get whacked outright, and learn the lesson early. People get in over their heads in rumor and glitz... little boys in a man's world.
Sounds like you don't believe AP's really exist from that ramble. We most certainly do. Is it easy? My AP is easy to do but not easy to learn. Most people I talk to just don't get it. Is it risk-free? Certainly not. I have lost a bundle doing it but only because of extenuating factors (not luck, trust me. The AP maneuver usually goes south when the casino finds out about it and they do get pissed or scared or both -- I've witnessed it.) But overall, it's fun, interestingly enough, it's even been fun when I've gone to war with the casinos -- although I certainly try to avoid a war. It ends up just being too costly.
You are a good writer and I would love to hear how you went from sleeping in the subway to a very successful AP.
How did you stumble into this AP thing and your journey to your present destination.

I'm writing my memoirs. One day I will publish them. My hustles were incredibly small and grew from there.
I no longer do the initial hustle. I walked into a casino in 2012 to look around as it was just opened a few months earlier with no intention of making this a career. They offered ten bucks in free-play for new members so I signed up for a players card. Turned the ten bucks free-play into $35 and walked away - literally walked away leaving my card in the machine.
When I realized I had left my players card in the machine I went back and saw someone else had sat down and was playing. Because it was a new casino, few players were signing up for players cards. I spent the next few months "Accidentally" leaving my card in slot machines and stepping back to watch while other players put credit on my card. I ended up getting monthly free-play offers and I just moved on from there.
Don't do that anymore and I can't talk about my current hustle, but that's how I got my start from just two pennies (which I never took out my pocket).

Perhaps you could be kind enough to give me an update on the Resort Racino in NYC.
Me being in Asia and I on the Resort casino cruise ship at least once a month.
They were doing a fantastic business when they started. But the state make them double the pay for their staff.
They retaliated by closing down the buffet and laying of some staff.
How are they operating now.

I hear they are always crowded and busy but I have not been there in over a year.

One of our esteemed members here have some recent "bad" experiences with this.
Quote: darkozSounds like you don't believe AP's really exist from that ramble. We most certainly do.
I suspect almost every AP, at every level has experienced this skepticism from friends and family at one time or another, so we are used to it. First reaction is a defensive one, wanting to explain or prove our existence, but after a while you start to take on a "why bother attitude", especially with those that are only casual friends or family. Let them continue think the world is flat if it makes them feel better. I wish a few more of the casino industry folks believed that we were unicorns and didn't exist. :)
But claims of $300k and $200 per hour and tens of thousands of $ every month I see is not something you have claim yourself.
Sure others could do better than you but the magnitude of their claim make yours look like child's play.
Quote: Deck007I don't think many here are disputing there are AP out there if he can take the heat, variance, travelling, etc.

I was making $45K a month for a few months as an AP. It only ended because the casino got wise. It is certainly possible to make a couple hundred grand a year using an AP maneuver. They are few and far between but I can certainly attest they exist.
Quote: WizardofnothingSo how would you feel is someone exposed that play and you lost it?
If it was published in national magazines first, not too bad.
However, if you can figure out my play, please by all means post it.
BTW, thx for re-invigorating some of my older threads.
I am not concerned at all with being able to continue doing what I do. If the casinos that have figured out my play couldn't stop me, I certainly am not concerned.
Quote: darkozIn fact, in the next day or two I will post a New York play for all the AP's on here that will be kind of juicy.

How about no.
Bad things have happened to those who expose or blow-out someone's play (livelyhood).

WHO cares what he's saying? So you guys want to get in a fight and then because you want to prove something you're going to potentially mess something up?Quote: darkozQuote: RSQuote: darkozIn fact, in the next day or two I will post a New York play for all the AP's on here that will be kind of juicy.

First off, just stumbled across this thread, excellent reading.
To your above post, precisely correct.
kewlj isn't even a member here anymore, unfortunately. You're reviving old thread after old thread for literally no reason. If you like the thread/read then great and good for you, but to not contribute to the conversation other than responding to someone who's not even a member anymore, you're just wasting space on the recent threads section.Quote: JIMMYFOCKER...To your above post, precisely correct.
This is the 3rd one... I'm going to flag anymore moving forward. If you have something real to contribute, then by all means... but if you just want to respond "Very true" or respond directly to a poster that isn't even on their boards anymore, then please refrain.
would that make you KJ's a flag hag?Quote: Romes

I think jimmy's post served a purpose. He highlighted a very high quality post from an ex-member.

On the other hand, I like it.

I would hope that any flag for no good reason would get you admonished by the moderators. Oh, hell no, I don't want anyone else suspended--that has gotten WAY out of hand. I just think you should be told the same thing everyone else has around here--flagging is not to be used just to get rid of the posts of others if they are legitimate posts and not SPAM removal, etc.
You may not be interested in an old thread, someone else might be, but old threads get revived all the time.

I think only posts by newbies can be flagged.
Also, what's the concern with bumping a thread from days gone by?
Sorry to have ruffled any feathers, will not dare bump any threads again that have been stale for over a week.
you seemed to bump more than a few and they just so happen to all involve KJ. That's a bit strange.Quote: JIMMYFOCKERWhat does flagging a post mean?

1 bump seems fine but many seems strange.
I guess it's not against the rules to comment on old threads, it just makes people wonder what's your MO.
It's all good carry-on. It just gets annoying to see a bunch of recent thread pop up as if they are new just to find out it's just some revival of an old thread of basically nothing interesting or prevalent.

I think one he bumped with an "apparently" or "agreed" or something like that. Or perhaps it was someone else.
The things folks here complain about these days...

The KJ specific bumps occurred because after reading some particular post from the idividulal, deemed knowledgable on the gaming front,so did a search on all that persons posts to see if I could pickup some info, and in doing so responded to 3-4 of that persons post.
Again, sorry to have caused such an uproar, never again.
As I said, It's all good... just blame Romes. He's the one that started an anti Jimmy bump champaign and wanted to flag your posts. I was never in favor of flagging any non AP informational post. He'said is obviously an evil guy, probably got to watch out for him. (-:.Quote: JIMMYFOCKERAs stated, will not bump anymore threads that have been stale for a week or more.

Sort of a be open, don't worry much about heat, Red or Green play.
Its similar to the retired folks who put their pension checks through slot machines and eke out an eight dollar an hour living in an alcohol fed air conditioned state. Not much money but what else would the retired people be doing all day? Sit at home and watch I love Lucy re-runs?
Those whose luck and skills give them a higher income do very well and the word 'heat' may just connote far more danger than actually exists.
I of course am not an AP.... I still count silently the intervening numbers, such as 8 ...9... 10 ... 11.
