Quote: AhighI believe that $1,000 and up are still Paulson but with RFID. I know that's the case across the street at the Venetian/Palazzo. Generally you know when they do that because they require a player card in order to obtain one of those chips. Both the Wynn and Palazzo require a card to give out the yellow.
I wonder if purples at the Quad have RFID. My friend was refused a purple chip there because he didn't have a card.
Bought in for $100, re-buy for another $100. After a quite rough start, down to $20. Hit a nice run, cashed out $700.
They just switched out their chips - the new purples are slightly larger in diameter compared to the rest of the chips (old set was all 39mm; I believe the new purples are 44mm and lower denominations are still 39mm).
The smaller casinos around here top out at black.
Quote: sodawaterA few years ago, I was sitting at a dead poker table waiting for a game to start, and something hit me in the arm. I look and see it's a $5,000 chip. Someone was trying to toss it to his friend at the table next to me. Unbelievable. I picked up the chip and handed it back to him.
My friend has tossed a black chip across the pit (playing blackjack) to me because I needed to double down (or split perhaps). That was pretty funny.

The biggest I have ever had was $500 purple. I actually had $1100 which was my largest cash out ever. I asked for 1k chip but they told me they were only allowed to color up to the next color. I had some blacks so my next step was to purple. Never heard of the rule but I guess it didn't matter so I just took it.
Quote: vendman1Grey..5K in AC..several times. Every time when I was at the cage getting cash(and I went straight there) they asked if I had a marker. Since I don't do markers, I proudly said nope, the cashier said "good for you" and I was promptly paid. I always wondered..."good for you" seems risky, suppose I started with 10K or 20K. Cashing one gray would seem pretty tame by comparison, and not a good day.
That is the risk of saying "good for you" - however, I have earned to take it as a compliment as, a 5k chip to that person is likely a good bit more than their monthly gross income behind the cage.
For me, it's a yellow ($1000).
The most I have ever bet at one time on a sports bet is $5000
The most I have ever bet at one time on a table game is 2 hand of $1000 at blackjack
The most I have ever bet at one time on a machine is a max bet at $5 3-play spin poker (3 games x 9 lines x $25/hand = $675)
The sports bet was a one-shot deal (I lost). I have made several bets in the $1000-$3000 range though (won some, lost some, down overall)
The blackjack hands were not out of the ordinary -- that is my normal max-bet at a shoe game (so I've done it several times -- definitely up overall).
The machine bet was not my normal bet; I just decided to take a shot at a couple of big hands and hope i got dealt something good (I did not). It was TDB so there are lots of chances to get dealt something good.
most i've ever used as a wager chip: green

That's an interesting question.
The highest denomination chips I've ever placed into the betting circle is a couple purples, but my highest single bet on a table game is $1700.
The way that came about is that I was running late to get a ride back to the airport (noon flight), trying to get some last minute play in. My gf at the time was getting nervous and wanted to leave. The count was negative in a DD BJ game at Red Rock, so I waited until the start of the next shuffle, and told my gf I was going to play everything I had on the table on the next hand and if I won, parlay the bet (I had money in my pocket to cover doubles and splits), and then leave with a lot OR worst case, we wouldn't have to go to the cage. Well first hand out I get 20, dealer busts. The dealer breaks down my barber pole of assorted chips (supervisor had okay'ed the play) and it turns out I had $850. The dealer paid me like for like color on the win, so I stacked them all up again. The count actually went up with three other players at the table eating a bunch of low cards, so I went into the second hand with a very, very small advantage, although I don't think it would have made a difference since I announced my betting intention ahead of time. Maybe I would have been swayed not to play again if four aces had come out, didn't happen that way, so I don't know. It was a pitch game, so I pick up my cards, see a face card in the window and squeeze out an ace for the second and happily threw them on the table for a nice $2550 payoff. Tipped the dealer and headed to the window with $4200. First and only time I've ever done that on BJ. My typical green chip spread is $25-$400 or sometimes $50-$500
Machine bet, one time threw $500 into a hundred play machine (DDB) on a whim. This is where your friend who don't understand think you're crazy, not realizing that with 100 hands you are all but guaranteed to get some back. I had a crappy hand and it only returned about $200, so that was a fail.
Sports bet - $500 a couple different times.
$1,000 (orange) chips were normally stocked on Baccarat tables, but we had a max bet player arrive with a marker for $100k.
They brought a fill of $5k chips to the table.
I reached out and took the stack in one hand, preparing to break it down and prove 20 chips before signing the paperwork and for a split second realized that I had twice my mortgage in one hand :)
Of course, you become desensitized very quickly and they're simply different colored chips after you've handled them for a few minutes :)
I never buy in for black; I always buy in for red and only start betting black after coloring up.
Feels good, man.
Quote: Scooter77As a dealer, the largest denomination we had at my first commercial casino was a gray, $5,000 chip (max bet in the casino was $10,000).

How'd he do?
Quote: AxiomOfChoiceHow'd he do?
I think he was only up or down a handful of units after about three hours of play.
Not a very exciting game with a single, VIP player instead of lots of players.
It was much more fun to deal a full table of 14 players using stacks of black chips (less money, but more dealing finesse required).
Highest chip ever cashed out was a yellow $1k at the mirage. Bought into a craps game with $80 and my buddy rolled for about 45 minutes. This was in early 2009 and we went to Vegas to celebrate the NFC championship game. There were about 5 of my friends all wearing Arizona cardinals jerseys. During my friends roll we repeatedly kept chanting "Larry! Larry! Larry" as we wanted him to throw a hard 6 ( 3 3 for Larry Bird) ... After my friends great roll, some gentleman on the other end of the table walked over with 5 shots of Jaegermeister and congratulated my friend by saying great roll Larry. We laughed because that is not his name. Anyway I took two Jaeger shots and then threw up on my Cardinals jersey..
Highest Bet I have made was $300... I bet $100 and had to split my 8's twice haha. And I win every hand.

I think I've wagered a red chip a couple of times, but I really prefer $1 or $2 craps with 2x odds at a high-class establishment where they really appreciate my action.
;-)
Biggest chip I've ever held: A single purple. Never multiple. Cashed out $1100 at Main Street, and same thing, all black. They even called the pit.
Biggest chip I've ever bet: Black, many times as craps odds. Also a couple of times on black at roulette but I've been cure of that.
Never a huge win, but I've taken $200 to $1000+ many times at craps; every other color-up was with purples.
(Of course, I've taken $200 to $0 lots of times, too!)
Largest Denomination of Chip Bet: Green
I have bet >$100 on pressed place bets but they never made the switch to a black chip, so I can't say I have bet any of those. I did ask them to pay me in black before--especially when one guy hit a lot of 6's and the press was @ $90...got three or four blacks before he hit the 7.
I did bet five (5) $500 "Promo" chips one at a time on the craps table at Golden Gate last year. $2500 in promos from a football square game; turned in to $2500 cash. They would not color me up at the table, so I had a handful of blacks to take to the cage...which is all of 10 feet away...
The first time I had a really good night at the Rio, I got back to the room, and she asked if I had any black chips. I said no, but I have these purple chips. She couldn't see the denom, so she asked if that was good. When I told her they were $500s she was giddy.
So this went on for about a year. When I would leave, she would always tell me to come back with the Barneys. My degree of success was tied to bringing back purples.
The first time I won $4500 at the craps was in Tunica, and my wife was not on that trip, so she did not see the $1000 chips. Actually, they never left the casino, as I went to the cage and turned it into cash. I had a buddy from work with me, and he had won $3500 (he had a 30 minute roll just prior to my 70 minute roll). We took the shuttle back to our hotel room, laughing our asses off. When we got to the room, we did the cliche. We made it rain 100s on the beds. $7500 worth! lol Since that was a triple up of what I took, it meant a lot, even though it is not really that large of an amount.
Anyway, back to the Rio for another trip, and I get back to the room. My wife awakens and groggily asks if I have any purples. I say no, but I do have a few blacks. She is disappointed, but says that is good, at least I have something. I then say, "oh wait, I do have 3 of these yellow chips." She asks if they are better than purple. She liked those yellow chips. That is the biggest I have been able to get my grubs on.
As far as biggest chip wagered, it was a $1000 Buy 10 at Cherokee. I got paid once, and then lost the bet a few rolls later. Paying a vig with 2 greens is dismaying and an adrenaline rush, all at the same time.

I once doubled a $400 bet for $800 and won. I had an 11 vs. a dealer 5. I didn't get the ten (or even make a decent hand) and had to sweat out a dealer bust.

Did you have to remind me of what happened to me at the Rio? I tried to buy in at a crap table with reds, and got stares all around; somebody then pointed to the "MINIMUM BET $50" sign. I slinked away...

I got to 2 hands of 600 for majority of a shoe. Doubled my 8v6 and caught a 3. Other hand was also a double (forgot what, think a soft 13-16). Dealer breaks. Yeeeehaaaw! That was just 1 round. That was a golden shoe.
Bj 2700 on one hand. I new I had an ace coming. I got a double down and won.
Other games 3k

Nice!

The dealer showed me the card and then dealt it face down, so I knew I had to rely on a bust to win. I don't remember what card he turned over with the 5, but he had to draw about three cards before busting with a 22. Needless to say, I felt pretty uneasy for a few seconds.

$100. The reason is simple. I'm a recreational gambler, and I play negative expectation games. Reds and greens are thrill bets, blacks are deep breath bets. I don't bring enough cash with me to withstand the variance.

Too rich for my blood.
I find myself doing ridiculously well at $3 blackjack. In for $20, out for $100+, many times.
Was almost giddy tonight when I found a 1c video poker machine that offers my current preferred game. Max bet, 15c/round. I think I ran about $100 of coin in off a $1 buy in and $5 of free play. Had the credit meter all the way up to $8 a few times.
Sometimes, I'm in it for the money. Other times, I'm in it to enjoy the game.

I like tables with the lowest minimum I can find (assuming the rules are good) so that I can spread my bets further. The lowest minimum I can find in my area for my style of play is $10. There are a lot of $5 tables as well, but they are all six deck games.
