Ooh. Lucky you. Hope you get enough of a signal to give us a play-by-play.
I know Harold who was a box man at Bill's is going to be working there. So I'm anxious to see him and really happy he got a spot there. I know there's a couple of former Stratosphere dealers going to be working the craps pit too. So it will be interesting to see what the crews are like that they are putting together at the craps tables.
Quote: AhighI am missing the SLS opening. I will check it out during the week next week though. I like how they portray the game of craps from their website though and I'm anxious to see what it's like inside.

I think "Mama San" from Stage Door was going to be working a bar there as well, though there is conflicting information if she actually took the job or stayed at Stage Door.
Lots of hookers. At least they were dressed like hookers.
People should get out of my walking because idgaf in crowded spaces.
Valet needs to stop messing with my seat placement, or at least put it back.
Thanks for the drink I was tired of watingQuote: djatcTrip report. The bar machines had alcohol spilled over them and the buttons didn't work. I proceeded to order a drink and hulk smash the deal/draw button when many bartenders told me to stop slamming the machine.

Overall it was not as crowded as I thought it would be. I thought I seen Mission146 double fisted disappear into the crowd.
All drinks were free, lots of cool looking foo foo drinks were available from the cocktail servers, pre pre-made( no Capetian Morgan's available pre-opening)
They had lots of orderve's available, I noticed almond cheese balls and sweet potato french fries, I was not interested. I heard it was all Delicious.
not
The place looked cool and modern, I think it was awesome compared to the old Sahara. AT&T 4G was not working. Wifi connected but didn't work either.
I estimate 700 to 900 slot machines. Mostly video-slots (no reel-sots I found were interesting disappointing as far as the selection). Machines were not turned on till exactly 12 midnight. They did a count down to turn them on. 10% of them failed to turn on
They have a 8/5 a bank of bonus poker progressive $25 machines$4 over reset. Better games are available .25 and higher (not saying what) around 98% VP are plentiful.
card readers were not visibly calculating the points. A floor-man supervisor confirmed they were being calculated.(yea right).
They did have a $10 min njk, iihand dseat UTH.
more later.

You bet the machines were not turned on till exactly midnight...Gaming Board insists on that sort of thing.
Looks like they need to alcohol proof the machines.
Good luck running after that Russian!!
This has not always been the case. Many casinos in the past would have the machines on and playable many hours before the general public was allowed in.Quote: FleaStiffYou bet the machines were not turned on till exactly midnight...Gaming Board insists on that sort of thing.

Quote: odiousgambitlet us know if you spot secret agent 146!
Who is agent 146, exactly.

various rumors. The one I'm going with is that he is undercover in Vegas for the Wizard.
Yes.

Yes.
That agent '146', I get it.
Quote: onenickelmiracleCouldn't have been him because he moves too fast hunting progressives to be seen with the blind eye.
Agent 146 can be seen by not looking directly
at him, he can be seen with your side vision
only. He's that fast.
It's some kind of Reincarnation thing!
Quote: odiousgambitI'm damned if Godwin's Law doesn't explain it all!
I thought you shopped that, it's the real thing.
Quote: Pokeraddictseemed like the VP and slots were server-side.
Why would they seem to be server-side? That seems a bit odd.
Quote: RSWhy would they seem to be server-side? That seems a bit odd.
They are exactly the same setup/cabinet/feel as the games at Cosmo and Aria, which I believe are all server-side. I don't know that SLS is but they all have the same appearance. That doesn't mean they are. For example, there are (or maybe were) machines at Plaza that can be server-side but aren't.
Quote: strictlyAPi am told server side
Thanks
I found some 99.9x% VP there but you have to look for it. Those games only go up to $.25. Otherwise you must play $1+ denom to get games like 8/5 BP and 9/7/5 DB.
They also had some $.25+ 99% 3 and 5 play.
SLS = "Style, Luxury, Service".
personally i think it could be construed as a little racist
Quote: AxelWolfWhat's up with all the monkey junk at SLS? Some casino employees have monkey faces on the back of their vests and its in other places.Personally I dislike it and its odd and not very Vegas like.
apparently, this
Quote: onenickelmiracleAxel, does it have what it takes to be a locals casino on the strip or whatever they say?
I haven't been there yet, but I'm impressed with their craps felt and table (or the photo of it).
Not if they keep monkeying around.Quote: onenickelmiracleAxel, does it have what it takes to be a locals casino on the strip or whatever they say?
LOCALS PLACE? YIKES, granny get your party hat and dance clothing on. I will need a second look for sure, To much was going on and I had a few drinks, I socialized most of the time.
Seriously I'm not qualified to answer that(Remember my favorite casino is the Revel, if I could choose, but I only really care about AP opportunities). What's their marketing strategy? so far i don't think its good. You know how many times I have heard, "SLS, whats that?"
The clubs might do well. A club strategy might be the way to go. I heard they will have inexpensive rooms, certainly a plus. The Average frequently returning Vegasers just want a nice casino with fair room prices.
It's a very cool place no doubt, It's way better than any place near it. So as far as design YES, I liked it for sure. It was easy to navigate however, it's small(I like that) so how hard can that be.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they had limited dinning?.
They even had some fair VP pay-tables but what local place doesn't? I didn't see any real good pay-tables on VP IE. 10/7, FPDW. I didn't really look hard to crowded. They didn't have some of the more interesting slots I expected yet to many slots for a local joint IMO. I didn't notice many E-Table games.
I didn't see anything that really got me excited or any thing really spectacular.
Locals like EZ parking. If I meet up with someone locally at a casino, I choose a place like palms or Rio, places with a parking lot. I tend to avoid places like Gold Coast, The Orleans, Palace Station, because I think they are trashy looking, unless they have something good going on.
Agian, They are going after locals? Yikes. Personally I would have went in a totally different direction as I already pointed out.
I didn't like the high limit room it was square, really bright, lots of red and no flavor and it didn't match the casino at all. BORING. I like that they are not part of the big casino chains, we need more and more of that.
Yes however that would be creepy, we did make a u turn to make sure she was not in need of assistance.Quote: onenickelmiracleA 15 with no picture. That's just cruelty.
But at least you seemed to enjoy yourself, Axel. The side-by-side machine lockups looked hot too! ;)
I hope they do well. I never want to see a casino fail. Only want to see them get desperate? Not sure, Do casinos offer more with promos and intensives when they do good or less.Quote: onenickelmiracleThere were a few articles mentioning a certain percentage of patrons being locals. Something in the range of about 45% of the business. I hope they do well as well being a smaller company but if loveman etc. wants something they'll just add it to the tab anyways.
I have seen it go both ways.
The 8/5 BP on those $25 progressives only pays 30 for all quads (98.48%). The BP on all other denominations on the same machines is the standard 99.17%.Quote: AxelWolfThey have a 8/5 a bank of bonus poker progressive $25 machines$4 over reset.
That would make sense(i didn't look that close), seemed off they would have something like that on a progressive $25 machine. Or did they change it already:)Quote: tes3355The 8/5 BP on those $25 progressives only pays 30 for all quads (98.48%). The BP on all other denominations on the same machines is the standard 99.17%.
Did you check the meter?
They are obviously going for a young crowd while at the same time appealing to Asian players. Lots of roulette and baccarat. This was at the expense of fewer BJ and craps tables.
I put a few pictures and a couple tables on my SLS review.
I have to get something off my chest. When I was there I noticed a 6-5 blackjack table with a $25 minimum and four players at it. Meanwhile there were empty 3-2 tables at a $10 minimum in the same pit. As they say, there is a sucker born every minute.

Out of curiosity, did they have pai gow tiles?
Quote: harvson3Out of curiosity, did they have pai gow tiles?
Unfortunately, no.

No. Nobody ever tells me secrets.
No, I didn't play and no one else was playing that at the time.Quote: AxelWolfThat would make sense(i didn't look that close), seemed off they would have something like that on a progressive $25 machine. Or did they change it already:)

Are you sure the quads were not 35? There is a Bonus Poker pay schedule with quads at 35 that pays 99.66%.
