I can't remember if I'm saying this right. But which casinos in Vegas have this offer; the $10 gets you $15 offer. The Excalibur used to have it, but doesn't anymore. The Cannery?

The Tropicana had them a few weeks ago, and Circus Circus had them sometime last year. Four Queens did it two years ago.

Four Queens, Tropicana, and Hard Rock used to have them, but they were all one time restriction per account (lifetime), unlike circus circus and mandy bay that are every 6 months. Cannery (north las Vegas) used to have $15 for $10, that was good every 30 days, but that's a long way to go for a couple bucks EV. Add in gas and you are negative EV.

If you are 50+ and still around on Thursday, Tuscany gives free promo chips $10 in chips ($5.14 value) every Thursday. The kind where they take the chip win or lose.

Mandalay Bay has something (I always see the flyers when I'm there) but I never bothered to look into whether they were non-negs (play til you lose) or just promo chips (1 play only, win or lose, even money bets only). They are $20 for $30 worth of chips I think, so it's a good deal if it's non-negs and a bad deal if it's promo chips.

I don't think I've ever seen purchased promo chips before; in my experience they're always been non-negs. Every time I've gotten promo chips was from some kind of giveaway, drawing, freebie, etc.

They might be.

You are getting them as part of some beginner gamblers package or something. I think it includes lessons in some traditional games (craps, roulette, etc). I'm not sure if it's a once-per-card thing, or if you can do it on every trip, or every day, or what. They usually have the pamphlets at the cage, I think.

These I buy if it comes up and they've always been non-negs. It just seems weird that promo chips would be offered for sale. (Or not weird, but exceptionally predatory, if it was anything over half face value.)

It WOULD be exceptionally predatory. I am surprised it is NOT happening. We could put this one right up there with cashing paychecks and government checks that folks need to live off of. Hell, even combine the two. Instead of getting $100 cash, they could give you $150 in promo chips (value about $75) and there would be plenty of takers, still thinking they are getting a deal. Probably shouldn't be giving them any ideas. :(

And while we are on the topic of predatory casino behavior, I have wondered for a long time, why there isn't the ability for players to insert credit or debit cards into the machines and download funds directly from account to machine. The technology is certainly there. I mean this way the casino could not only get every dollar in a players pocket, but every single dollar in their account.

Win card chips are worth just slightly less than face value.

I think I was confused when I initially replied to this thread.

What are win card chips? Are they equivalent to non-negs?

Well, every time I got them, they were non-negs, but somebody in the thread stated that they weren't sure if a specific batch were non-negs or promos, which prompted my comment about paying for promos being predatory, which inadvertently may have opened a can of worms...

Ya sorry that was me.

The problem is that I have never heard the term "win chips" before.

I have heard of "non-negotiable" and "promotional" chips. I take it from this discussion that "win chip" is a synonym for "non-negotiable chip"?

They also usually come with a coupon that you play as a 1$ tip to the dealer.
