And other gambling fallacies.

It's interesting how one, or at least I, can change my opinion, or the feel, I have of a certain place when I win as opposed to when I lose. Last trip I developed an aversion of the MSS craps tables, as I got killed in three sessions very quickly. Last night my impression of the Royal Yak casino turned 180 degrees when I had a fairly good session.

I know the dice have no memory (but they do hold grudges!), there are no good or bad tables, there are no hot or cold tables either, and all the rest. Just the same, after winning $120 I began to think "I should have raised my line bets," "I should have made more come bets," I should have placed the 5 when 8 and 6 were point and come bets," and so on.

Well, no. I should bet what I'm comfortable losing and not a penny more. I'd be unfair to myself to judge a roll afterwards. During the roll you never know how or when it will end.

Just the same, it does amke a difference when you win somehwere you'd only lost before. Now I'm thinking I could go play once or twice a month. No doubt if I do, and I probably will, and lose the next session, I'll begin to hate the place again :)

The thing is to be aware of these biases and not play more money than I can do without.

BTW, I usually "set" the dice before throwing them. I know tha likely amkes no difference at all. but when I hit something good, I keep setting the dice the same way. Never mind the throws are all over the place, sometimes escaping the table altogether. Call it a minor superstition. I do feel more likely to win if I keep setting them, but I don't go haywire if I don't.

I've always believed that if you could see the future, it would be easy.

Glad you had a good time!

No, no. You have to convince yourself it would be boring to know the future. That makes things easier ;)
