Well, I think the title is misleading, if the researchers actually found (according to the body of the article) that winners were changing to safer bets either in amounts or type, and losers were chasing their losses with riskier bets. Seems like fact matched with common sense, but leading to an incorrect title (Perhaps the editor didn't read the writer's article? Wouldn't be the first time).

The "hot streak" implies that you're making the same bet, and probably pressing it, and still winning. That's not what the research found. By treating any and all bets as equal, even though they weren't during the research, they're drawing a conclusion about "lucky" or "streak" when the bets are not correlated.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

I don't even understand this. Safer bets? So after two wins on a color in roulette, a gambler starts betting 30 numbers? I doubt this is common, nor is it exactly safe. If this data is even true, it was probably carefully selected. And it is extremely misleading.

Was this study on poker players? It says 'gamblers', it seems like poker.
Interesting read.
