I constantly hear people talk about 'tight variance' and do tend to agree that some bet selections do help in lowering the wild swings that are common with close to 'even money' bets.
I am interested to hear which bet selections people beleive acheive the goals of lessening the wild swings in 'even money' games/ bets such as baccarat. (Besides the obvious hedge bets)

Flat Betting minimizes the variance.

If you think even-money games have wild swings, you probably shouldn't be playing. Even money games like baccarat have the lowest overall variance you can typically find in casino games; most games are far, far higher.

And you don't want to decrease variance much at the even-money level anyway, because doing so basically eliminates any chance you'd have of getting ahead. You can play roulette with exactly zero variance by putting $1 on every number on the layout. Your variance is zero because you'll always lose $2. That's not what you want to do.
