I went there again this past Christmas and couldn't find them. I didn't ask what happened to them.
Here's an old article about Mohegan Sun from 2007:
http://www.vegastripping.com/news/blog/1550/the-new-rage-1-2-penny-slots/
It says the house edge on the half-penny slots at Mohegan Sun is (or was) a healthy 14.5%.
When playing a slot, you're mostly just playing a flat fee, such as 25, 35, 40, 60, or 89 (yes, eighty-nine) cents, for example. Are you playing a penny per line? Not usually. 35 cents per pull might get you a 50 line game. Or 40 cents might get you a 30 line game with bonus activated. 1024-way with 40 lines might cost 50 cents. So when people ask if I play penny slots when I go to the casino, I have to go into a long spiel, much like I just explained.
I know about these types, but really getting at I would rather the price to play be upfront than to have pay with lower frequencies and/or lower pay tables. Being stuck with using coins forces the method. Guess unless I want to donate big money to a politician, anything rational is pointless to wonder why. No grease, no movement.Quote: DJTeddyBearI reported last year that I saw 1/4 cent machines at Mohegan Sun when I went there for Christmas.

I was having some fun in the Sun this morning and I remembered this post. They do indeed have 1/4 cent slots. There are a total of 18 in two locations and they are all 5 times pay by IGT. If anyone would like the exact locations please feel free to ask.
Whats really sad it it seems that if you play max bet on a penny machine, it's equal to playing an old time $1 slot machine yet, you get a penny % payback, but you can play much faster then the old machines.Quote: 1BBI was having some fun in the Sun this morning and I remembered this post. If anyone knows of any penny machines that have less then a 8% hold please PM me.
I took the spin, but it did not win anything. But I was glad that I didn't have to worry about getting a 20 cent TITO slip.
If my memory is correct, this was one of the machines at the Rio. It was the only one on the trip that ever gave me that option. All others just made me cash out whatever credits were remaining under the minimum.
WMS has this feature which just came out and I think it's called spin saver. I've never seen it, but it's there to capture credits people might not know they're leaving. These credits add up to millions, so it's a smart move to try and capture them. Really I would like to break the nickels dimes and quarters and be able for casinos to offer what players want without thinking or $.75 or $1.25 is the limit. Just have the transparency there and raise the revenues by raising the bets. Never going to happen though.Quote: blount2000I played a penny machine on my trip last month that gave you the opportunity to take a "consolation spin" with your remaining credits when they dropped below the minimum bet. It was a video penny machine that had a 30 cent minimum, but when I got down to 20 credits then the option to take the spin popped up on the screen.

Interesting, I've never heard that before.
Most min bets machine beep incessantly when you fall below the minimum; very annoying.
Quote: HunterhillI don't know why they don't make machines that you can play any denomination that you want. VP machines could start at $1 and go $2, $3, $4all the way to $25.I know they have multi denom machines but you should be able to play any amount between $1and $25 or between 1cent and $1.
One reason is that gaming regulators require a separate set of meters for each denom. It would be a logistical nightmare to keep and report every possible combination.
Thanks for solving the mystery.Quote: DRichOne reason is that gaming regulators require a separate set of meters for each denom. It would be a logistical nightmare to keep and report every possible combination.
I'm pretty sure that one reason they don't do that is because on the multi-denomination machines, each denom has it's own paytable with it's own house edge. I.E. If you play the highest denom available, you get the lowest edge.Quote: HunterhillI don't know why they don't make machines that you can play any denomination that you want. To have a machine that allows any denom would be too much trouble setting up the paytables for the range of house edges desired.
At least that's my own W.A.G. (Wild Ass Guess)
