I was thinking of linking this story but figured someone had posted it earlier. The version I saw was the cab company gave the guy the employee of the year award and 1k for his honesty while the poker player gave the guy 0 but did get his contact info. I don't know if I was the guy I would have kicked the guy down with at least 10-20k but maybe it wasn't his money and he will pay the guy later out of his own stash.
Want to give the poker player the benefit of the doubt at least but if it were me, the driver would have got something right then and there.

Stating the obvious here, but how do you leave that amount of money behind? When I'm in Vegas, my roll is an order of magnitude smaller than that, and I'm nervous if I have the whole thing on me, in my money belt. I take about 1/3rd with me and leave the rest in the hotel safe.
Whenever I'm flying with my roll I obsessively check to make sure it's still there.

Something similar happened in Melbourne, OZ a few months ago. Cabbie finds bag in back of taxi which contained about about 60k in casino chips and approx 60k in cash. Chinese player gives cabbie 500 reward for handing it in. I was discussing this and there is no way the cabbie could have kept the bag, due to fitted GPS along with camera fitted in all taxi's in OZ (only Police have can access camera footage).
Even if he called a family member to meet him somewhere to hand over the bag, the call would be traced, his journey tracked, plus it wouldn't take long to determine the cab company who picked the lucky customer up, along with the tape evidence.

Obsessively checking is a tip off that you are carrying a large sum of money.
Forgetting a bag is usually a matter of sleep deprivation, time zones, playing non-stop, etc.

Well there are other things in life to take your mind off poker for a while and Cosmo offers more free ones than any other casino in town.
