Yup, that's the far end of the rez, and where I usually access Erie for fishing. I'm right at the other end of the rez. If I climbed the hill on the outside of town, I could see you. /wave
Edit: Man, Google Earth blows my mind O.o

Yeah, real temp when I was bitching last week was -30F. Wind chill pushed it close to -40. My town is weird, the way it's positioned in a small valley. In winter, it gets less sun so is always colder. In summer, it gets no breeze so is always warmer. It's a land of extremes, relative to my neighbors.

Mayhap someone should tell them that Siberia is in the Arctic? -_-

I'll take a winter in MI over a summer
in FL any day. I spent a week in mid
FL in July and thought I was dying,
yet people were living there on purpose.
All they did was moan and groan, but
they kept living there. I had a friend
who was transferred there in the 70's
for two years and said it was like being
in prison in the summer. Even Hemingway
escaped to MT in the summer from his
home in Key West.

I love the summer. I do all kinds of stuff outside. Bike ride, walking, golf and Kyaking.
I am definitly more active outside here in Florida then when I used to live in Maryland.
Are you overweight and out of shape?
Then I can understand that you thought you were dying.
I am in shape and not over weight, love outside activities.

31 Ways It Really, Truly Sucks To Live In Florida In The Summer

I like number 5:
"That little coast-to-coast heat wave everybody was bitching about? Yeah. That’s Florida from May through September. We have to hide until summer ends. We’re basically prisoners down here."
I remember running from the house
to the AC car, from the car into the
AC store, then back into the AC house.
Every shirt I wore was always soaked
with sweat, as was everybody elses.
The streets were free of pedestrians
at noon. The old saying was, you'll
never forget your first summer in FL
because you thought you were going
to die.
Quote: 98ClubsIn the 90's to 2003 my parents wintered in FL. By May 1, they would come back.
My dad always came back the last week
of Ap. He tried living in FL one summer
and made it to June 1st. Quote: "I thought
the humidity was going to kill me." He
ended up dying there, but in Jan.
My dog started limping from frozen paw 2 min
into his nightly business. He wasn't pleased.
Real weather for real men. (and real dogs)
But it is weird being outside when it's this nasty. It feels... sterile. And very quiet. Hard to believe there's things living out there.
+32 tomorrow. Won't know what to do with myself.
At least the battery didn't freeze this time. Yesterday I had no reading at all (--) until I brought the sending unit in and let it warm up.
Quote: ontariodealerwe're at 9 below.....the falls are about 95% frozen over.
Holy Crap. Do you mean Niagra falls I'm assuming. Do they freeze most winters? Just never occurred to me before.

That's what the picture was, as Face noted. Video I saw yesterday said it's been 1848 since they froze completely, but they freeze at least partially every year, according to the newscaster.
I've obviously never seen it, not even close. That "partial freezing" Babs mentioned is typically just over spray freeze from the perpetual mist, and a freeze of the slow moving stuff in eddies, like around Goat Island.
But the actual Falls? Unheard of. This does not bode well for my town =/

I believe I read since they started recording these things this would only be the third time they completely freeze over...its very close right now, just a liitle bit on the American side still flowing.

I've such an urge to walk it. Who can say they walked to Canada without using the bridge? Or even stood at the base of the Falls?
Border Patrol would likely have a fit =/

Orlando in February.... Vegas in March.... keeps me going!
Quote: SOOPOOI took friend from NYC to Niagara Falls yesterday.... his request.... We walked to the falls maybe 50 yards from visitor center.... as you got close to the edge the 'mist' blowing at you was frozen ice daggers.... He barely lasted a minute when he decided the visitor center was a better place to be....It was 0 degrees F. I would guess the wind chill was 30 below or something....

Those who followed my DT truck resto thread can imagine my... discontent? Disappointment? Murderous % $@!ING rage?
Yeah. That last one -_-
Quote: FaceWhen the cab of my truck warms, the snow on the roof melts. It's been so cold that it has been freezing before it can drip off. Unbeknownst to me, it had filled the void between the door and the cab in the seldom used passenger door. The ice was so thick and hard in the area around the hinges that opening the door peeled the leading edge of the door out. Totally flared it. Bent the metal, shattered the paint, it's a disaster.

Yeah, that last one. You worked SO hard to make the truck beautiful. :( Sorry, Face.
Insane why anyone would live in this? The swimming pool is near 90*, all by itself.

I am assuming you are in Vegas. If so, your thermometer is running a little high. It was supposed to be a high of 105 today. 108 to 110 the next 6 days. That's a little warm for mid June where the average high temp is about 97. This is more like July weather.
The first really hot period is a little rough because you just aren't used to it yet. But what is making this little hot spell particularly difficult is there is more humidity than we normally have. I mean not humidity like Florida or east coast or other places that I have lived, but 25-30% humidity is far greater than the single digit humidity that we normally have. 108, 110 degrees with a little humidity starts to get a little rough. :/
I hear ya about the air conditioning, petroglyph. It's a little depressing to hear it running non-stop this early in the summer. :(
I'm in Lake Havasu, yep humidity is higher than normal after a rain we had, around 30%. I already got my first burn of the year from the door handle on my truck. : )Quote: kewljI am assuming you are in Vegas.

Yup took it to the shop and found out a hose in the back of the engine was leaking. Luckily I ran good with it jus being the hose, could have cracked and broke a bunch of other moving parts. Ac being out in Vegas - no bueno with 100+ degrees.
Now a thunderstorm warning.... Oh well space jam is on tv so i aint going nowhere.
Quote: djatcMy car overheated and ran out of ac juice (freon) today ;/
A car with no AC is not a car....it's an oven. LOL.
That's funny.Quote: kewljA car with no AC is not a car....it's an oven. LOL.
10:10 a.m., 101*, in the shade.
A pet left in a car without ac running will die in just a few minutes. They bust people here quickly for leaving dogs in cars. The locals will call the cops immediately. Inside car temps with window rolled up will go to 200 degrees in minutes. http://phoenix.about.com/od/car/a/summercar.htm

As will children. :( We see the cases involving children on the news. Cases involving pets no so much. People that do that should be locked away immediately. Forget accidents, and feeling horrible and all that. There has to be some bare minimum level of intelligence to function in society and if you do something this F-ing stupid, you go away. You go to 'stupid' prison.

Agreed, there is a huge recidivism rate for stupid.
